Samurai Western Fails to Impress

Strengths: Fast gameplay. Bargain bin game. Good game for button mashers.

Weakness: Generic hack 'n slash gameplay. Killing the same 4 guys over and over.

While the concept of a Samurai fighting cowboys with six shooters in the Old West may appeal to some, Samurai Western just isn't fun. In Story Mode, missions last about four to five minutes and consist of nothing more than killing everything that moves. See a bad guy, press square. See another bad guy, press R1 or circle to dodge his fire then press square. These short hack fests are seldomly...

Samurai Western

Strengths: Very Unique Concept - Graphics are tight - Atlus title - Ninjas!

Weakness: Camera can be annoying - Repetitive gameplay

I've a very big fan of Samurai/Ninja type games. And I love when they add new flavor to them. Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi are the classics. Tenchu added Stealth. Onimusha added detailed storylines/crazy powerups and wicked slashem up action. Now Samurai Western brings in some 'firefly flavor'. I had to pick this title up without even reading any reviews. 1. Because it just looks good from the cover,...

Great Concept poor delivery

Strengths: Concept, sound

Weakness: Graphics, Gameplay

I wanted this game as soon as I heard about it. Atlus ussually puts out innovative creative gameplay and product so I really wanted to check this one out. I bought it at a low price and am glad I did. The cut scenes weren't that good. After killing about the 5 billionth bad guy in the same way after a couple hours, you realize there isn't much more to the game. I ussually like generic beat em ups...

Samurai Western

Strengths: Originality. Good concepts

Weakness: Could be better.

Atlus is not so great as Namco or Sega, but they have been making good quality games in various flatforms. They are known for games full of originality. Samurai Western is one of those games. Good arts and many unlockables. Sometimes the game gets boring for repeating scenes. It could've been better.

Western action with samuari

Strengths: Original idea Good unlockable

Weakness: gameplay gets repeatitive

Combing the Way of the Samuari Western with Western setting and you get Samuri Western. The gameplay is simple, as you beat up everything in sight. However, the game play is very repeatitive, and it quickly gets bored. The only plus side is that there are some good unlockables to reward the player for playing.

A average action adventure Game..

Strengths: decent graphic, gameply, easy controls.

Weakness: Short, & doesn't live up to the hype!

Samurai Western, was published by Atlus for a US release, sure like at Atlus release, if you don't pick up the game within months of release there is a good chance you might never see this agme ever agian. Pros: Western, type story to the mixes, some hack & slash gameply, easy to follow story, decent graphic. Cons: Don't live up to the hype that magzine gave this game in previews! relitive short...

Samurai Western

Samurai Western is the an Atlus published game, so one knows that the purchase will retain its original value, if not increase in value. Also the games packaging is quite nice. The game itself plays ok, and i would say it is a good game overall. Worth picking up if you can find a deal on it.

Its Average

Strengths: I liked the art style. Controls are well done. The Concept of game is pretty cool.

Weakness: Weak Story. Gameplay gets repeatitive. Terrible Camera.

Samurai Western is basically an average game. The main problem i had with the game was the camera, it basically has a mind of its own and you can get pretty disorientated from it at times. As long as you go into Samurai Western not expecting to be blown away i think you'll enjoy it. If only it could have had more time in development it could had been a lot better but its still worth a play...

what a weird game

Strengths: lots of action and laughs

Weakness: needs more power up moves

This game is such a weird title for Atlus to bring to the states. It deals with a samurai from japan somehow get to travel to the wild west of america to save the day. The game is very unique on the voice acting, using both japanese and english in conversations. This title is such a unique title, I would recomend it to anyone that loves a changes of hacking and slashing a very hard game.

samurai deflecting bullets, what more?

Strengths: This is the heart of Samurai Western. The action is very fast paced and frenetic, with your eyes constantly flitting around the screen for enemies, your ears listening for that sound of a gun reloading and being readied to fire. Your fingers are moving a

Weakness: Again, this is another lacking area of Samurai Western. It's nothing terribly in-depth or captivating, so I'll just lay the basics. Gojiro is a samurai who leaves Japan to come find his brother in America. His brother left Japan and the samurai way, and

Samurai Western is a fun game. Plain and simple. If you can look past the flaws (none of which really affect the gameplay), you'll find playing Samurai Western to be an absolute joy. I've seen discussion of whether or not this is worthy of buying or renting. I say it's definitely a must rent at the least. You can beat the game and maybe unlock some things before having to bring it back. But if...

Samurai Western

The men standing in the middle of the dusty streets of the ghost town twitch their trigger fingers and spread out. Their opponent shows no sign of nervousness and does not take his steely gaze from the gunslingers that begin to sweat. Suddenly the men draw their six shooters and, before they can even pull the trigger, the lone man pulls out a long blade and is on them. Within seconds the man...

Samurai Western

Stick some samurai in the Old West and you'd figure that there would be a bona fide hit. Maybe not something that will bring the love from folks of all sorts who come across the game, but Samurai Western certainly has the potential to be a solid niche title. It's name almost says it all. Throw a master swordsman up against a legion of cowboys and it could be greatness on a stick. But sadly we see...
