Product Details of MLB 08: The Show

Description

To deliver the closest experience possible, next to actually trying to make it in the Majors, MLB '08: The Show introduces a more immersive gameplay experience. For example in Road to The Show mode, as gamers attempt to make a starting line-up in the Big Leagues, playing on both offense and defense from a custom-created player's perspective, a more robust dynamic goal system and a new career advancement system determines when a player is eligible for a promotion. Additionally, custom-created players are more interactive. As a position player, gamers are able to further adjust that players positioning, catchers endure more defense situations, and pitchers now experience mound visits with user interaction -- all making Road to The Show mode even more realistic.

MLB 08 The Show

Strengths: graphics, game choices

Weakness: batting and pitching

The graphics are amazing and almost looks real. The commentators are not boring and dont repeat the same things. Lots of different games to choose to play. Dont buy this game and expect to be an all star right out of the gate. It takes a little bit of time to get use to the batting and pitching. At first I could not throw strikes and it got frustrating, but finally Im getting better at throwing...

Best Console Baseball Game

Strengths: Depth of gameplay features, realistic feel, graphics, gameplay sliders, discipline at the plate required for batting.

Weakness: Initial loading times are long, infielders will occasionally forget to reach down for grounders hit right at them, baserunning controls are a bit wonky.

MLB 08: The Show is easily the best console baseball game available. It has excellent graphics and plays like real baseball. A good example is with the batting, which requires plate discipline since you will strike out a lot if you're too aggressive. So you can forget about having arcade-style slugfests with MLB 08. Oh sure, there will be some games where you score big runs but this will be due...

mlb

Strengths: good visuals, lots of modes

Weakness: steep learning curve

MLB 08 is the baseball game baseball fans should be playing. Everything is spot on and captures the sport of baseball extremely well. The graphics look beautiful and there are plenty of modes to enjoy the game. The only flaw I could find in the game was that it’s a hard game to play. You have to be patient with it and eventually will get the hang of it.

Fun, but not without flaws

Strengths: Realistic baseball play, amazing graphics, announcers aren't too repetitive, good fielding.

Weakness: Long load times, no home run derby, frustrating base running, too easy to steal, advertises 1080p resolution, but is only "optimized" for 720p.

MLB '08: The Show for PS3 is an entertaining, realistic baseball game. The graphics are fantastic, and the announcers don't get repetitive by the 3rd inning. I played the PSP version from last year, and a lot of the frustrating "features" of last year's game have been cleaned up such as not saving profiles correctly, runners being able to "skip" bases and run directly from first to third (right...

MLB 08 Review

Strengths: Excellent gameplay and graphics

Weakness: Franchise AI is weak

MLB 08 hands down is one of the best baseball games I have ever played. Sony really did a bang up job in most every aspect of the game. The game plays very good as well as looks great. The franchise computer AI can be a little dumb at times making odd trades, but it is nothing to big. Road to the Show is also the best mode ever found in a sports game. I have spent many hours playing that and I...

One of the best!!

Strengths: One of the best baseball video games ever made. It's very realistic- from the batting, the fielding, etc.. It's a lot of fun, but can be challenging, which makes it even better...

Weakness: There really aren't any- the game stalled on me once, after a foul ball.. I don't know what happened..

Honestly, if you have a ps3, love baseball, and want a challenge, then this is your game. I've played mlb 2k series in the past and this one surpasses it in so many ways. One of the best things about this game is the fluid motion of the game.. It's just so smooth, no glitches, when it comes to graphics. Have fun!!

Best Baseball Game Ever?

Strengths: Graphics, game modes, realism to game, replay value.

Weakness: Online lag, some glitches in fielding, hard to hit sometimes.

This game by far is the best baseball game I have ever played. The huge amount of options of game play modes is mind blowing. The graphics in this game are the best for any system and better than the 2K8 that is out for the 360. The road to the show is a really cool mode where you start your career as a minor leaguer and work your way up to the majors, but everything is done by your players...

MLB 08 - Amazing

Strengths: authentic baseball feel, atmosphere, graphics, sounds, stat depth

Weakness: a few AI quirks and animation glitches

Every wanted to be a major league baseball player? MLB 08 The Show is as close to the real thing as most of us will ever get. If you have ever played baseball before, this captures the experience like no other. It simply feels like baseball. The graphics are amazing, the players have animations that make you think you are really watching a broadcast on television, and the sound effects/broadcast...

Great Game

Strengths: Fun, Realistic, Graphics

Weakness: Nothing really new

This is the best baseball game available. It is basically everything that was good about last year's game with better graphics and some new animations. The gameplay is very realistic and it is a very fun game for baseball fans.

MLB 08: The Show

Baseball is, at once, the most complex of games to play and the easiest to understand. After all, you throw, hit and run. But the anomalies of the game can make it more complex than chess at times. And then you throw in the element of chance. The ball hits a pebble; a fraction of a second in terms of swinging can result in either a home run or a lazy pop fly; the release point on a throw will...
