Nintendo Wii Component Video Cable

Strengths: Quality cables, 480p for HD picture, price

Weakness: Only 480p

A must for those with HD TVs. Will only go up to 480P but will be much better than composite and s-video. Price has gone down and can be found for about $13-$15 at amazon. Get it now and you will enjoy your Wii a lot more than you already do!

Component Video Cable for the Wii

Strengths: 480p progressive output, 8 foot length.

Weakness: None

If you have a TV that can support 480p input, I highly recommend you get this cable. Games like Zelda and Resident Evil 4 for the Wii look so much better than the composite video cable that comes with the unit. There are generic versions of this cable and they all basically work the same. I went with the officially branded version since I found a great deal on them combined with the $5...

Works, don't expect 1080p

Strengths: Simple to use

Weakness: None other than the fact that Wii fails to provide HD resolution, regardless of the cable involved

It's Nintendo's Wii console cable for use with TVs that have component input jacks. Nothing fancy, just what you'll need to get the maximum possible resolution out of your Wii. Still a big notch below Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of resolution, but oh well. There are 3rd party cables that are a few bucks less expensive and do the same thing.

Wii Component Cables (Wii)

Strengths: Much clearer picture at 480p, no signal noise issues

Weakness: More expensive than 3rd party products

The official Nintendo Wii component cables allow the Wii to output to a 480p EDTV/HDTV resolution. Colors look much vivid and the overall picture looks much crisper. The cost is higher than the 3rd party alternatives, though there's not been any signal noise issue that some 3rd party cable suffer from. For anyone with an EDTV or HDTV, this is a must-have.

Wii component cable works great

Strengths: good quality cable, easy to hook up, 480p looks good

Weakness: some jaggedness of pins noticed in wii bowling

I would recommend this product if you have a wii and a HDTV. The picture looks sharper although I noticed some jagged edges of the bowling pins in wii bowling. Other than that, everything else looks great! If you can get it for a good price then I'd say go for it.

The official Wii component cable

Strengths: Able to get 480p resolution using the Wii. Cheap price Works well

Weakness: Only 480p, but then again that's the maximum the Wii can output anyways.

If only the Wii supported something better, like 720p. But hey, at least 480p is better than 480i or something even less by default. It looks decent on my 42" Sony XBR2 LCD 1080p screen, and noticeably better than before. But then again it pales in comparison to my PS3 with native 1080p resolution with games or blu-ray movies... but that's to be expected. It's still a great product and a must for...

Wii Component Video Cable

Strengths: A must-have for any HDTV owner

Weakness: None

I considered this such an essential item for my Wii setup that I held off playing Zelda Twilight Princess on my launch Wii because these cables were not available at first. Now they are easy to find and are an essential part of the Wii setup if you have an HDTV or even a standard television that accepts the higher-quality component inputs. Nearly all Wii games support progressive scan (480p) and...

Wii in EDTV!

Strengths: Great picture

Weakness: Can be expensive

The Nintendo-branded component cables for the Wii have worked very well. The cables are good construction quality and the picture is crisp and vibrant in 480p. You may be able to find other third-party component cables for the Wii, but if you go that route, ensure that they are Wii-specific cables. The Wii uses a proprietary connector for AV cables, which your standard cables off the shelf will...

Wii Component Video Cable

Strengths: Nintendo Brand Solid connections

Weakness: None

Excellent 1st party product. Definitely worth picking up of you have component inputs. The Wii is only capable of 480p, but that's still a lot better than S-video or *shudder* composite.

A good HDTV hook up for Wii

Strengths: Better resolution then composite hook-up, adequate length(8.2 feet), Nintendo licensed.

Weakness: Expensive than 3rd party cables.

If you are connecting your Wii to an HDTV, it is better to use the component cable to get higher resolution, better color saturation, and less noise. The cable allows the Wii to display at 480p instead of the standard 480i. Unfortunately that is the best resolution a Wii is capable of displaying. The only downside is that there are cheaper 3rd party cables available in the market as compared to...
