Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Enthralling story, massive replay value, event-changing story depending on your light or dark force rating, the BEST Star Wars game ever

Weakness: Graphics could use an upgrade, save files too large to fit on memory card, have to be a Star Wars fan to truly like it

Truly, this is the best Star Wars game that has even come out for any system. It captures the Star Wars feel better than any game before it, especially the Jedi aspects.

The graphics are only passable for the XBox, though the sound, voice acting and story all make up for it by a large margin.

The story is the main reason to play this game, also trying to do all the side quests gives it massive replay value, plus with playing it as a Light Side or Dark Side, plus the three different classes, makes it a game you can play over and over again and not get the same game twice.

The RPG aspects are excellent, and I definately look forward to the sequel.

The definitive Star Wars game on consoles.

Strengths: Good graphics, light/dark side choices, good gameplay, great story, music, and customization.

Weakness: Too much fun?

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a very solid game. It has a high replay value and should provide at least 25-30 hours of great gameplay. The game doesn't have that much difficulty in the beginning but it picks up the pace in the later moments of the game.

When you first start playing KOTOR, you think that it will be like any other RPG based on what you see first. You pick a race and a class and work to level him or her up as you go form task to task. When you play, you quickly realize that your first assumption is wrong. Not even ten minutes into the game and you are already engaging the enemy and tearing through their ranks. The thrill of battle is heightened when you come across new weapons and technology.

As you progress though the game, you meet up with new characters. Most will become allies and join your party but, some will become enemies and try to kill you. The amount of characters that are allowed in your party is limited to three, including yourself. This makes the player think about how they want to equip their party for battle. Do they want to have everyone charge into the heat of battle swinging vibroswords and lightsabers or do they want the party to stay back and take pot shots at the enemy from a safe distance. There are so many options as to party customization in this game that the player will have to experiment to find what suits them best.

The number of different locations and planets is one of the games strongest points. There are around seven different planets that the player can travel to in the game. You start out on a lowly commerce planet whose trade agreements are decreasing with each passing day. After you decide to leave you travel to another fully explorable world full of life and interaction. The game offers a wonderfull array of different locations, most based upon actual places from the Star Wars universe.

The greatest aspect of this game is the customization. The ability to make your character into whatever you want. Be it a ruthless sith lord, a battle hardened soldier, or an honorable and diplomatic jedi. Your charter can become any number of things as you progress through the game and learn the nuances of each class. The ability to do this is what truly sets this game apart from any other RPG game.

Overall, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best RPG games on the market today. There is no way that you can go wrong when you decide to pick up a copy of this phenomenal game. From the customization to the planetary exploration, you will thoroughly enjoy your time spent playing KOTOR.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Good story, large variety of characters, smooth gameplay, many hours of fun

Weakness: The beginning is a little slow, there are some bugs and glitches in the game

I highly recommend Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox. This is the best role playing game for the Xbox by far. There is a great variety of characters (each of them having a unique personality), lots of hours of gameplay, and a well thought out storyline. Another huge positive for this game is the replayability factor. Once you finish the game with one type of character, you can play as the opposite gender, class, etc and play as a good or evil person. This game is definitely worth the full price if not more.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Awesome Gameplay variation and graphics.

Weakness: Replayability is somewhat weak.

This is a great addition to the Star Wars Games. I had to keep playing it, I just couldn't put it down. The graphics and gameplay are fun and exciting. Well Done.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Great gameplay, great graphics, Star Wars Universe! Low price now too - look for the sequel soon!

This is a great game. Finally, a good game set in the Star Wars universe that's not a flight sim. And an RPG to boot! You can follow either the dark or light side of the force while battling enemies and enjoying some good, old fashioned space opera story telling!

fantastic game

Strengths: great storyline, excellent rpg action

Weakness: some bugs and a little bit of number crunching

One of the great Xbox games there are. It weaves a great storyline with great gameplay and makes you feel like you are existing in the star wars universe. Better than any of the second trilogy of movies, and its just something you have to play yourself to really experience and enjoy. A fantastic game that gets my highest recommendation.

Star Wars: KOTOR

Strengths: Excellent Story

Weakness: Blah Graphics

Star Wars: KOTOR takes place thousands of yeard before the events of Episode 1. An excellent RPG, where you are able to choose whether you will align yourself with the Jedi or the Dark Side. The player eventually discovers their Jedi powers, as well as their mysterious past. At around 40 hours, this RPG follows in the footsteps of Morrowmind, also made by the same developers. If you want a deep RPG that draws you in, and especially if you love the Star Wars Universe, this game is for you.

The Force is Strong in this one.

Strengths: Awesome storyline and characters. Tons of stuff to do. Downloadable content. Great music and voice acting.

Weakness: the fighting is not that great. Too many items to go through with clucky menu screens.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the Star Wars game everyone has been raving about. It has won numerous game of the year awards from various websites and magazines. This game deserves the credit and lives up to the hype. Fans of Star Wars and role playing games in general are sure to find something to like in this game. The graphics are well done but are out done by the excellent voice acting and musical score. The problem some people ,like myself, had with the game was the combat system. It's not really turn based but it's not player controlled either. Its kind of both. It doesn't keep the game from being and incredible experience though. The story line is fantastic and the characters you meet are all interesting. If you can look past the weird combat system then you are in for on of the greatest RPG experiences the Xbox has to offer. A-

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Amazing story

Weakness: Graphics could be better

Wow- this game is incredible and SO engauging! I'm not a fan of the Star Wars saga- but this game sucked me in. It's the perfect balance of game play and story. This is a shining example of that gaming SHOULD be about. I played it twice (and I've never done that before) so I've gotten at least 120 hours of game play out of this puppy! I highly recommend without any reservations.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Good and very long RPG. Very open range game!

Weakness: The fighting is the biggest weakness.

This game is very good. You do not just have to be a Star Wars fan to enjoy. It is a nice open range game that will take many hours to complete. Even when you complete the game there are lots of different endings.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Fantastic use of the Star Wars license. One of the best console rpgs out there on any system

Weakness: Nothing besides nitpicking.

If you have an xbox, unless you abhor either: 1- Star Wars, 2- rpgs or 3- High Quality games, then this is a great pickup. I rented it for a few weeks, and once the price dropped to $20 still had to pick it up. It is a huge world that is designed so openly it cannot all be experienced one pass through. If you are looking for something different than the more traditional, linear games or just wondering if your xbox can play something other than Halo, this game will deliver. The story is excellent, the use of the license is spoton and BioWare has added another title to their library of RPGs.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Xbox

Strengths: Story, Replayability, Immersive Gameplay

Weakness: Graphics are a little weak, Save files are too big to move

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox is the best RPG available for the system. It features the Star Wars universe as a back drop but tells a great story and has tons of replayability.

Battles are turn based (sort of like Dungeons & Dragons), but are engrossing never the less. The game can take over 40 hours to complete, so its definitely an experience that you'll need to invest some time, but well worth the effort.

Star Wars: KOTOR

Strengths: Play as the light or dark sides, multiple choices, graphics, sound

Weakness: None

This is arguably the best role-playing game on the Xbox system, to date. As the main character, you start as a blaster wielding soldier that is destined to become a light saber wielding Jedi. On your journey, you will encounter various other characters that will join your party and help you on your quest. The best feature of this role-playing game are the decisions you make as the main character, not only influence the other characters in your party, but influence your character as to the ways of the force he will follow, the light side or the dark side. For example, a droid vendor will sell you a droid that you will need to continue on your quest. The droid will break as you are leaving the store. Upon returning to the store, you have the option of asking for your money back or demanding your money back plus extra money for the inconvenience, brilliant!

This game is exceptional and I highly recommend the purchase.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Xbox Graphic... Flows well with the Star wars Movie story...

Weakness: Battle system, character design, & battle system.

A Star wars RPG that is raved by magazine as best RPG ever!
As a big RPG fan myself, I have played about every RPG ever release in the USA.

After spending nearly 15 hour with this game, I just didn't really like this game. if you are expecting something on the line of final fantasy. well don't!
it's unlike any of the RPG you ever played from Japan.

I don't know why this was raved so much by game magazine, Reason? maybe because there is next to none RPG, for the Xbox to compare this game to.

Well it's another disappointment from an American made RPG.

An Excellent Star Wars RPG

Strengths: Great story, the ability to play through the game on the light or dark side, Star Wars universe

Weakness: Not enough voice acting

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic is truly a great RPG on a system that is lacking good games in that genre. From the minute you start the game, you get totally immersed in the Star Wars universe. The story line is great and you'll want to play through it twice just so you can play on both the light and dark sides.

I really like the pseudo-real-time combat system that has you selecting actions while you can still move your character around. The way your actions and decisions can determine how the game plays out is great as well.

This is a really well done RPG and if you are either a fan of the genre or a fan of Star Wars, you really owe it to yourself to check this game out.

The best star wars game ever

Strengths: Tough moral choices.

Weakness: Average graphics

Amazing voice-work, beautiful music (John Williams contributed to the score, afterall), tight gameplay, and tons of replay (since you can play as either the DarkSide or the LightSide). The best part of the game, though, is the extreme quantity of tough moral choices posed to the player throughout the game. It's a game you play not just with reflexes or even your mind, but with your heart. Can you have a person murder their best friend? The choice is up to you... it's a great way to see how far you'll really go.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Great story, voice acting, soundtrack, choice between dark and light side, Star Wars universe.

Weakness: High learning curve, poor frame rate, character models repeat (again and again and again).

I've read and heard a lot of hype regarding this game over the last couple of years. I've finally been able to sit down and play through this game and although I don't quite think it lives up to its' billing as the greatest thing since slice bread, I believe Bioware has crafted a fantastic RPG that just happens to use the Star Wars license. I would have to say this game almost feels like a MMORPG, with the massive world, menu system, character interaction and battle system. To tackle that last one, I would have to say the battle system is perhaps one of the weaker points. It would have been great to see this game utilizing more real time battle elements (like Jade Empire) since the light saber battles are begging for that type of format. Instead, you get battles where you basically command your party what to do but you can pause at anytime to change up strategy. I got used to this battle setup after a while but I personally would have preferred real-time combat. Another thing that may prevent fans from enjoying this game is the high learning curve. I've been born and raised with games like Final Fantasy and Zelda so it took me a significant amount of time to find my way around the stat system, equipment options, battles, etc. I do NOT recommend this game to younger gamers unless they have a grasp of playing more complex games. But gamers who can enjoy this will have a great time trying to decide between light and dark side decisions. The story is so deep (everything is voice acted) and there are so many characters. The one problem is that Bioware seems to repeat the same character models over and over again as different people. This is unfortunate because it detracts from the Star Wars galaxy being a large universe. Another flaw in this game is that the frame rate chugs along and there's a lot of slowdown. In spite of the flaws, this is probably one of the best Star Wars game ever made (especially if you're looking for storyline elements). Even though this game takes place 4,000 years before the movies we all love (or hate, in the case of the new trilogy), this game feels oh so familiar.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Great story, Beautiful Lightsabre battles, Memorable Characters.

Weakness: Starts off slow, Sub-par graphics.

I had more fun playing Knights of the Old Republic, more than almost any other Xbox game. It's a very well done RPG that excels at almost every level (the graphics are a bit dated). It is safe to say that you should not miss out on this game.

The combat is a cleverly disguised turn based fighting system that is, at first, disappointing in that you don't get to slash up your enemies ala Ninja Gaiden with lightsabres. But the combat is very well done and as long as you have the difficulty at high or medium (you can change it at any time) then the combat becomes very strategic. Choosing which type of attack or force power during a battle will decide the outcome. Not jamming the A button as fast as you can until the dude dies. And no worries about dumb team A.I. If you wish you can press the Black button at any time to line up orders for your two teammates.

As I said before the graphics are a bit dated. Things glitching through walls will happen quite few times. And the close ups during in game dialog is kind of ugly. During your walks around a planet the game looks very good. And the lightsabre battles shine out. But even with all that and the beautiful CG cut scenes, graphics are KOTOR's weak point.

The game has a lot to it. I, being the kind of player that does all of the side-quests to make my character the mightiest Jedi in Galaxy, finished the game in 34 hours. And of course KOTOR is famous for its Dark side/ Light side paths. So if you wish, you can play twice to get the experience of the both good and evil.

The presentation of KOTOR is excellent. From the look of the lightsabre battles, and the sounds of each and every weapon. The voice acting and CG cut scene when traveling to and from planets is very polished. Overall Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the best Star Wars game and at least one of, if not the, greatest Role Playing Game on the Xbox.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: amazing story

Weakness: turn base battle system is not for everyone.

The story of KOTOR takes place 1000 year before the Star Wars movies, so it leaves a lot of room for the creators. You can chose between the dark and light side which gives the player a lot of freedom on what to do, which is quite different from most RPGs. Along the way the player will visit new and familar places, and interact with many interesting characters. My only complain is that the turn base battle system might not be for everyone and could take a while getting used to.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: A good, long RPG that will satisfy Star Wars fans and RPG fans.

Weakness: Maybe too deep for casual players.

Developed by Bioware, of Baldur's Gate fame, KOTOR is a PC-style RPG that gives you plenty to do. There's a long story, a lot of quests, and you can play as either a good or bad character. Any Star Wars fan will love this, as will an RPG fan. Fans of both will be in heaven.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: a great rpg, length

Weakness: you will want the combat to be in real time

this game is the reason why I bought an xbox, and it was well worth. This game has lightsabers, 8-9 planets, a killer robot, and jedis. This game lasts about 20 hours and it isn't too hard. It is now a platinum hit, and well worth the 19.99.

being able to choose wether to be a jedi or a sith through your choices is one of the best parts of this game. The best part of the game is the storyline with a great twist. And thats not to mention the great gameplay. I would recomend this game to anyone that likes a good RPG.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for Xbox

Strengths: Great combat system, very deep story

Weakness: A few bugs throughout the game, but not a nuisance

This is by far the best Star Wars game released since Dark Forces II back in 1997. While it is an RPG, the combat system makes it play more like an action/adventure game, while keeping all the elements of an RPG. The game includes downloadable content with an xbox live subscription, or for free if you buy the PC version.
