Monster Rancher 4Strengths: Improves upon gameplay of Monster Rancher 3 in a variety of ways Weakness: Graphics somewhat subpar, can still be tedious to raise and train monsters Monster Rancher 3 was a fun title (basic premise - use CD's or DVD's lying around the house to create unique monsters that you raise and train and fight with in an arena). Monster Rancher 4 improves upon the formula and adds a ton of depth as well. The first improvement comes in the ability to set training schedules for 8 weeks in advance (a week being the game's basic unit of time during which you train and compete). This takes some of the tedium out of the training/feeding routine. The biggest improvement is in the exploration mode that was touched upon in the previous game. Now you can go out and find tons of items and, in fact, must explore if you want your monsters to become the very best they can be. The battle system has also been upgraded and is more deep and entertaining than before. While the graphics in this game are an improvement over the previous version, they still lag behind that of most titles. This is a very unique game, however, and one you should definitely try out if you are seeking an alternative gaming experience. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Monster Rancher 4
Lately, it seems as though the card game and a lot of the video game industry have been dominated by the “pocket monster” style of titles, and kids or grownups nowadays have access to everything from Pokemon to Digimon to Yu-Gi-Oh. Back a few years ago before all of this hype really seemed to take off here in the states, Tecmo released a really fun, addictive, and at first overlooked title... Top

Monster Rancher 4 (ps2)
Is it just us, or is nearly every review ever written for the Monster Rancher series always prefaced with the line this isn't for everyone? As true as that statement may actually be, the game is obviously appealing to somebody because over the last two generations, all four of the Japanese Monster Farm titles have been released in North America. And while we're definitely quick to agree that... Top
