Unique gaming experience missed by most consumers. ....

Strengths: Innovative game play, engaging adult story line, solid audio

Weakness: Censored for stateside release, lackluster graphics, camera issues

When Indigo Prophecy was originally released in Europe as Fahrenheit, it included nudity and a sexual minigame not unlike the "hot coffee" mod in GTA San Andreas. After some content reduction and a name change, stateside gamers can now enjoy what's left of this game as Indigo Prophecy. It's still a unique experience to play through, but it's certainly not the complete cinematic experience North American consumers had hoped for.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of having any and all adult content censored from video games simply because parents are afraid that kids might get hold of them. Kids may get hold of alcohol, tobacco, firearems and pornography too, but those things aren't banned here as a result. Minus the censored content, Indigo Prophecy does bring an entertaining story and unique rythym-based game play innovations to the table.

The graphics are somewhat of a mixed bag though, and the camera frequently gets hung up in the walls. The story will probably keep most players eager for an adult gaming experience involved, but some of the endurance-based mini-games can be a pain to play through. Given lackluster sales stateside, you'll probably need to buy this used or rent a copy if you're interested. An uncensored PC version is also available for download only.

Indigo Prophecy

Strengths: Original game/story. Good voice acting. Fun quick time events. Really good music.

Weakness: Controls can be awkward sometimes because of camera angles. Story gets ridiculus towards the end.

Indigo Prophecy is a unique adventure game. You play as a character who finds out why he unwillingly murdered a man in a bathroom. The story unravels as you encounter different characters along the way and participate in quick time events. The QTEs are like a game of Simon Says where you must press the correct button at the exact moment. The game can be fun to play but certain parts of the story tend to drag on. The story starts off really well but fizzles towards the end. The graphics and sound are well done though. Check this game out if you want to play something really different.

Indigo Prophecy

Strengths: Interesting story, unique gameplay

Weakness: Story takes some overly-bizarre turns, game not for everyone

Indigo Prophecy is an interesting 3D adventure game, similar to an interactive book. At various points you'll need to press buttons and move the joysticks in different directions to perform actions like playing a guitar or mopping up a pool of blood, then the actions you take and don't take will have different ramifications later on in the game for different characters. For instance, for much of the game you'll be playing as a character who just apparently murdered someone but has no memory of it and is trying to figure out what's going on, and then switching to the policemen who are trying to track down the murderer. The story is initially pretty interesting, but gets a little unhinged later on, losing some fun. The mix of puzzle solving, conversations and general adventure game goodness is pretty interesting, though obviously not for everyone. If you dislike adventure games, you can avoid Indigo Prophecy easily. If you've never tried one before or like them though, it's well worth checking out, if nothing else for the unique and weird gameplay and story. Recommended.

.

Strengths: very good story and atmosphere

Weakness: wonky camera at times

PROS: deeply involving story and characters; you get to play as 3 different characters; voice acting is excellent and makes the game like watching an interactive movie; multiple endings and you can re-play the game at certain points so you will be able to see the results of all your different choices; simple control scheme, either matching buttons onscreen or twirling the analog sticks; lots of replay with the multiple endings

CONS: graphics are only o.k.; camera can get wacky sometimes

Indigo Prophecy (Xbox)

Strengths: (1) You have not played a game like this one before! (2) Great user-driven story (3) Fun/innovative controls

Weakness: (1)Graphics are sufficient but could have been better given the original XBOX's capabilities (2) Low replay value

Indigo Prophecy is an excellent XBOX game. If you have not tried this one yet, pick it up since it can be had cheap and it will work on the XBOX 360, too. This game is a fantastic experience and a refreshing, new take on the defunct PC adventure genre. Throughout the adventure, you will choose to control many different characters and even play both sides of the hunter/hunted as you switch between an "innocent" man who committed murder (under possession) and the officers who are pursuing him. There is much more to the story than that, and it is a very well done tale, however, the aspect that really stands out about this game is its interaction/control scheme. You will at times use the two analogue sticks and all the buttons on the control in combinations as you perform different movements that direct your character to perform actions. For instance, if you need to climb a fence, you will be prompted to alternate between rotating each analogue stick in quarter circles, then perform a different movement when the character reaches the top and needs to flip over it. That is just one simple example of the controller movements that mimic the onscreen action but they can get more complex and are very well done. There are also many endurance tests your character must face and these also really tire you out because you have to alternate pressing the right trigger then the left trigger as quickly as possible. Again, the endurance tests are genuinely tiring in the speed of button pressing required but it really adds to the experience (and may perhaps have you laughing at the "burn" you experience). In summary, this game tells a great story and you feel more like you are taking part in the action due to the unique controls.

Indigo Prophecy - Rated 9 out of 10

Strengths: Amazing story. Solid Graphics. One of most overlooked games on the original XBox.

Weakness: None.

.
Indigo Prophecy is, without a doubt, one of the finest games on the original XBox. With a great story, great characters, great voice acting, and a great gaming experience, Indigo Prophecy is well worth a look.
.
Indigo Prophecy is one of those games that gets you right from the beginning and will keep you playing and chomping at the bit to see what comes next.
.
XBox 360 owners (who don't have an original XBox) are in luck because I.P. is now backwards compatible as well.
.
I'm not going too in-depth in this review because I don't want to ruin any of the story, but know this - if you have a system that can play this game, you owe it to yourself to play this game.

Fantastic Story

Strengths: Storyline, gameplay

Weakness: Graphics, camera

Indigo Prophecy has one of the best storylines to come out in quite some time. The characters are very deep and interesting. Unfortunately, the graphics are a bit dated which really doesn't hurt the gameplay. One of the worst parts of the game is the camera. This can get to be quite frustrating at times and does hurt the gameplay. The content of the game is what really stands out and draws the player into the story. I would definitely recommend this game.

Indigo Prophecy Review

Strengths: Story

Weakness: Camera Issues, Controls

Indigo Prophecy is a thrilling suspenseful game that is really hard to categorize. Its not an action game, it is not a puzzle game, it is more of a story based game with the occasional action part and the occasional puzzle. Its strong point is the well told story that leaves you wanting to know what happens next. It has its problems where the camera can get in the way a lot and the controls can be troublesome, but for the most part it is a very enjoyable game that leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

Fantastic update of the adventure genre

Strengths: Great story, acting and music

Weakness: Graphics looked weak even when it came out

I played all of the great sierra/lucasarts adventure games on the pc, and have watched this type of game struggling to make a modern transition from the 2d worlds. Indigo Prophecy has succeeded in that transition. The story pulls you in, and playing the role of numerous characters fleshes out the world and the story. Great music, voice acting and writing are great foundations for a game. The visuals were never amazing, but they do a good enough job.
I enjoyed Dreamfall, but was disappointed by its lack of closure (and the long stretches where you run between point a and b). Indigo is a tighter game, and any adventure game (or crime/noir fan) owes it to themselves to try this out. It is a bit on the easy side, but for this type of game, I don't consider it a negative.

Indigo Prophecy

Every now and then a game comes along that focuses more on the storytelling and the solving of complex puzzles rather than finding the most brutal means to solve problems that comes your way, like say, cracking a lead pipe over a door to open it. Now using brutish means is the fun way of solving a dilemma but every now and then there’s the need to solve a puzzle the cerebral way. Thankfully...

Indigo Prophecy

What kind of experience would the player have if they were limited to simple timing and motion control interfaces instead of intricate menus and battle systems of the traditional titles? It might sound lame to you, but Indigo Prophecy will prove you wrong.
