Microsoft Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection

Strengths: Easy to learn, very realistic zoo simulation, fun to play for people who like zoos/animals. Expansions really add a lot (T-Rex, dolphin & whale shows). More things can be added free from web site.

Weakness: As more items are added to zoo, game slows down and pauses for a few seconds to process increasing info. This game is VERY memory intensive. Occassional crashes when zoo becomes large, save often.

Time flys when you're having fun! There are many animals to add to your zoo. The big cats (lions, panthers, cheetahs) are interesting to watch. North American animals such as grizzly bears and moose are included. Endangered species (snow leopards, giant pandas, manatee) are also available.
The design possibilities are endless through combinations of paths, buildings, enclosures, and landscaping. Terrain can be raised and lowered to create mountains and valleys.
Marine Mania has killer whale and dolphin shows. Even a great white shark churns up the show tank to go into a crowd pleasing feeding frenzy and breach attack! Penguins dance when their happiness rating reaches 9X!
Dinosaur Digs has oodles of dinos: guest munching Alasaurs (Sorry, no law suits!), fence crunching T-Rexes, and Nessie the Plesiasaur. Mammals such as wooly mammoths (they like lots of snow), sabre toothed cats (finnicky like Morris about their habitat) also populate your genetic creations.
Hidden Easter Eggs are fun. Name an enlosure "Xanadu" and you get a unicorn. "Cretaceous Corral" poofs in a Triceratops!
As the year passes a broomstick riding witch followed by a flock of bats streak across your park at Halloween. Santa Claus ho-ho's through the sky whether or not your park has been naughty or nice with the finances.
These programs cost $20 to $40 each. They are a real bargain as a bundle.

Zoo Tycoon

Strengths: Gameplay, longevity, kid-friendly, education

Weakness: none

This is a great game for kids of all ages. Not only does it teaches kids about zoo animals, but also about finances. The objective of the game is to built your own zoo all the while be able to keep everyone happy: the zoo animals and the customers. To keep the zoo animals happy, you learn about what habitat they like to live in and what food they like to eat.

There are tons of animals including the expansion set with dinosaurs and marine animals. Overall, a excellent educational and fun game for kids of all ages

Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection

Microsoft has bundled its highly successful Zoo Tycoon game and its two expansions, Dinosaur Digs and Marine Mania, into one package, along with a few extra goodies like an endangered species theme pack and a strategy guide. Due to the fact that the main program and the two add-ons have both been reviewed previously, this review will not be an in-depth review, but will look at the bundle as a...
