Reviews for Duracell 30-Minute Charger

A good value for the money

Strengths: Charges fast, has a fan to cool the batteries

Weakness: Has an external power cord that's annoying

This Duracell CEF90NC replaced an old Energizer charger I've had for a few years. What I really liked about the Energizer is that it had flip-out prongs so that it simply plugged into a wall outlet, no power cord required. Because it was so small, it usually stayed plugged in all the time, and I would just swap batteries as needed.

The Duracell has a six-foot power cord with a brick power supply in the middle, which annoys me and means I will have to put it away between charges. In fairness though, I couldn't find any brand of 30-minute charger that didn't use the same design. I'm guessing that the power requirements for the faster charge mean that the power supply just won't fit in such a small package.

A positive feature is the built-in fan that cools the batteries as they charge. Batteries can get really hot when you charge them quickly, and I didn't see that feature on any other brands.

I've need fancier chargers, but most people will be more than pleased with this unit. The bottom line is that the Duracell CEF90NC does exactly what you'd expect it to do, and then some.

The best combination of charger and Nimh...

Strengths: Short Charging time

Weakness: N/A up to date

I like the charger, because:
1.Short-time charges, not exceed 30 min. The power is off automatically.
2.Goog NIMH batteriar for my speedlight.
3.It is OK for 110-230V. Thus, you can bring it during travel.

Maybe buy additional NIMH batteries in future.

Only shortcoming is that it is a little heavy.

May not charge non-Duracell batteries

Strengths: Fast charger - Separate adapter - Charges 1-4 cells

Weakness: May not charge non-Duracell batteries - Separate adapter - Not compact for travel - Have to charge batteries of the same size at one time (either all AA's or all AAA's, no mixing)

Some of my Lenmar batteries can be charged, some cannot, even though they are of the same brand, model, mAh (the LEDs were blinking). On the packaging, it says to use Duracell batteries only.

The adapter adds more bulk, and is about the size of a laptop adapter. The only good thing about it is because I hate those chargers with flip-up plugs (they tend to stop working after a while,) having a separate adapter with normal plugs is nice.

Even though you can charge any quantity from 1 to 4 cells, you *cannot* charge both AA's and AAA's at the same time.

Just as expected

Strengths: - is done charging within 30 mins - small enough to take on a trip - fan is very quiet while charging - can be used internationally unlike the Energizer 15 min charger

Weakness: - still wish it could be smaller - only cmes with 2050mah batteries (wish it was 2500mah)

Overall the product is great. I bought this because I knew that the energizer one doesnt work internationally. It claims it takes 30 mins and it doesnt go over time. I heard the Energizer one may take 30min even though it claims 15min. Overall great buy.

Duracell 30 Min NiMH charger

Strengths: Charges batteries in 30 min - just set it and forget it!

Weakness: Size a bit big.

This 30 minute NiMH charger can charge 4AA or 4AAA at once; just flip the switch to extend or retract the contacts for charging. 4 red LEDs turn on when charging, and turn off when finished. It also has a fan to keep the batteries cool since the 30 min charge heat up the batteries fast. The charger can be seperated into 3 pieces: the unit, the power adapter and the cable plug for the wall socket. It can probably be used outside the USA with the correct cable plug but those are not included. It is only marked for use with AA or AAA NiMH batteries.

Saving money and the planet--who can argue with that

Strengths: Don't have to throw 'em away. 'Nuff said.

Weakness: Big power brick. Makes a little buzzing noise (fan) while charging. No big deal.

The thing here is a 30 minute recharge time. That's just unbelievable, being that my other rechargeables need about 12 hours to charge. This is perfect for constant use items such as digital cameras, MP3 players, and flashes. Highly recommended.

Great Rechargeable batteries

Strengths: Quick Charging Cheap price, great name

Weakness: Hard to find the AAA batteries So i can reuse the charger

I personally using this in my Canon Powershot A95 and It handles a full day of taking pictures, taking about 100 picture. I haven't use it untill the batteries died out. I charged it over night.

Good charger

Strengths: Charge either AA or AAA, fast

Weakness: fan noise, external power cord

Have a Rayovac charger and off brand charger, this is by far the best. Rayovac charges Renewal but takes a long time to charge NiCad (hrs). With the Duracell charger, it charges most NiCad in 30mins or less. Though it came with 2050mAh batteries, wish it was more. Have other 2500mAh that charges nicely and doesn't drain as quickly as the other chargers.

Nice charger

Strengths: 30 min charge; good for AA/AAA NiMH; fan cool; automatically off

Weakness: external power; no cartridge lid

it is good and fast, although the fan is a little noisy. the lights are beautiful. the batteries are 2050mAh. it will be better if the cartridge can be covered by a lid. anyway, it is still a nice charger.

A big guy

Strengths: Price is fine, maybe the best Duracell and quickest charger avaiable, have a little fan to cool down this charger

Weakness: a little big, even need cord to connect, not good for travel.

Do a charge, really charge four batteries within 40 minutes, as it's described. The batteries are a little bit hot when charging. the downside is the battery is only 2050mAH, which I though should be 2300mAH,since my DC is really a huge battery eater.
Anyway, highly recommend for home use

Great batteries and charger.

Strengths: Superfast Charges. Automatic shutoff.

Weakness: None.

Great value for the entire package. The fast charger is really great. 30-minute is all you need to get your batteries ready. The charger shuts off automatically when the batteries have been fully charged. No need to worry about overcharging. Better stick with the Duracell batteries because this charger charges so fast. I wonder whether you can use other brand battery in this charger.

Very Nice Charger

Strengths: Charges in 30 minutes. Fan to cool batteries. Auto shutoff.

Weakness: Big Size

Charges AA and AAA batteries in 30 minutes or less. Fan runs during charging to keep batteries cool as charging fast creates a lot of heat. Good quality for a good price.

Great Charger

Strengths: 30 minutes to charge, can charge one battery at a time or four

Weakness: only charges AA and AAA

I just got this charger and have only used it twice, once with the Duracell batteries and then some other rechargeable batteries I had, all eight were ready to go in an hour. The 30 minute charger is the way to go, I replaced a cheap charger that took 12-16 hours. If you currently have the 12-16 hour charger, buy this!

Duracell CEF90NC 30 Minute Charger

Strengths: Quick as can be. Good battery life.

Weakness: Slightly more expensive.

I think for people who use batteries quick ofter, this is a great innovation. I would recommend it wholeheartedlly especially if you can get it for around $25. Good Luck!

not a bad product

Strengths: It did what it said. It did charge my batteries about 30 minutes.

Weakness: The price is a little too high. It didn't charge the batteries that comes with the charger, but it charged my other batteries.

This is one of the charger that you might consider. It is not better than other charger in the market I assume. I think all the charger have the same quality. So, you might want to shop around and find a better deal charger.

Excellent charger

Strengths: 30 minutes changing for 4 2050mAh batteries

Weakness: Size is too big

Got it yesterday and tried it. As it promised, finished 4 2050mAh batteries in 30 minutes. Great product! Also, it has a small fan to cool down the batteries during charging.
If it is smaller, it will be perfect.
