Matrix, The Path of Neo

Strengths: Great fan service for those who love the Matrix movies and can't get enough. Fun gameplay that is the closest thing to being Neo in the movies.

Weakness: Decent graphics and framerate, stutters frequently. Gameplay isn't as intuitive and easy as it sounds, a little weird controller layout too.

When I heard this game was coming out, I was ecstatic. Being a fan of the trilogy and everything that came out in between (Animatrix, Enter the Matrix), I was ready for another great addition to the Matrix world. This game is really fun in terms of gameplay and the way that it allows you to emulate most of the awesome intense fights from the movies. Though the default xbox controller layout is weird and takes a little getting used to, it's functional enough for what you want to do in the game. The graphics are good, better than "Enter the Matrix" but not as good as it could have been given all the extra development time this game has had. The framerate isn't that solid on the xbox version and stutters more often than acceptable but it's not too bad since it sort of offers another "bullet time" to the game. The storyline of the game is also really well done and will have you wondering if there's any more to it in years to come. The alternate ending from the movies is a nice addition to the Matrix universe and is what really piqued my interest in this game. All in all, if you love the Matrix and enjoyed the "Enter the Matrix" game, then this will definitely be worth your time and money. If you're a fan of action games, this is also very fun and can get intense in certain battles. Give it a rental first, unless you're a big Matrix fan, then DEFINITELY buy it now!

Awesome

Strengths: Controller configuration, levels of difficulty, better moves and fighting techniques. Lots of different fighting moves that you earn as you move through the game

Weakness: Skipped a little bit of Revolutions. Would have liked to see Neo battling some Machines in Machines City.

This game is truly awesome. It is fun. It's not too short. You can actually choose different paths for neo if you are able succeed at them. The fighting and controller config is so much better than Enter the Matrix. The game does provide you with recaps of events from all three movies. And finally you can be NEO!!

A good Matrix sequel

Strengths: Fighting engine

Weakness: Random loading, cut scenes

This Matrix game gets it right.

It's not actually a sequel to Enter The Matrix, instead a game that follows Neo through the movie trilogy. As you progress through levels, new moves are unlocked, adding more fun variety to the hand-to-hand, gun, and sword combat that comprises the game.

While the new story elements are nice, the cut scenes spliced from clips from the films feel very non-sequiter and don't really mesh with the rest of the experience.

My only major complaint with the game is seemingly random loading during levels. You may be walking through a hallway or down the stairs during the middle of an action sequence and the game will pause for a moment, jarring you out of the "zone" and breaking the gameplay experience.

The Matrix: Path of Neo

Four walls and several pillars, all covered with a shiny gray paint. Part of the room seems somewhat hypnotic, bringing images of a supernatural world to mind. The view is purposely crooked, changing with the action but staying close to the target at all times. Two security guards enter and without a second thought I spring into action, deflecting their attacks and pummeling their chests with...

Matrix PathNeo

We might as well get it out of the way and tell you right from the beginning that The Matrix: Path of Neo is a whole lot better than 2003's spin-off, Enter the Matrix. It looks better, it plays better, and taking control of the former Mr. Anderson is more satisfying than running around as Ghost or Niobe any day of the week. More than that, though, Path of Neo tries to do things technologically...
