SEGA Superstars Tennis (PS3)

Strengths: Many SEGA mascots, online multiplayer

Weakness: Weak control scheme, dull mini-games

SEGA Superstars Tennis is a fun, entertaining game filled with bracketed touraments and mini-games.

It is liken to Virtua Tennis but with SEGA mascots. There are 16 SEGA characters to be found but the game starts off with just 8 of them. The other characters can be unlocked in a variety of SEGA themed mini-games.

Graphics is crisp and smooth. Music is up-beat and great. The game has a strong multiplayer capability. Mini-games Tennis matches can be played either locally or online. A TV function allows you to watch highlights and live matches from around the world in real-time.

Controls are a letdown here. Instead of having a control scheme similar to that in Virtua Tennis, the controls are down through a 2-button configuration. Perhaps they use a simpler configuration for younger gamers.

SEGA Superstars Tennis could have been a better title. It has great environments and characters, but It still falls short of being a top-notch game due to the control schema and dull mini-games.

sega superstars tennis

Strengths: sega characters, mini-games

Weakness: no-one playing online, average tennis

I never expected this game to be the next top spin with sega characters. It is a fun game to pick up and play with friends. The addition of sega characters brings back memories of the genesis days. The variety and amount of mini-games is a nice addition as well.

Sega SuperStars Tennis (PS3)

Strengths: Many mini games combine tennis with the game play of another game..Great Price

Weakness: Actual tennis is pretty average...Nobody is playing online

The roster of playable characters includes popular Sega mascots like Sonic, Ulala, Amigo and even Alex Kidd from the old-school Master System. Each of them have their strengths and weaknesses--for example, Amigo doesn't look the part, but he's a Power Player who hits about as hard as he shakes those colorful maracas. The old-school Sega songs are a nice touch for nostalgic gamers, and the court designs are wild and imaginative.

The mini-games are also a nice touch, but some of them are absolutely frustrating like the one for Jet Grind Radio where you must "get the perfect tag three times" (Trust me, play this mode and you'll know what I mean.) Many of them are quite fun and are a welcome distraction. And there are a ton of unlockables to be had, like new missions, songs and characters.

Overall, if you enjoy tennis games and happen to be a fan of Sega characters, there's no better choice of game than this.

Tennis matches of Sega universe

Strengths: Some of Sega's well known characters available. Mini games that offer different game play than just normal tennis.

Weakness: Controller configuration is a joke.

Sega Superstars Tennis seems to be Sega's answer to their old time rival Nintendo's Mario Power Tennis, though it is few years late. Some of the Sega's well known characters are in the game, such as Sonic, Dr. Robotnik, and other characters from previous games released throughout different consoles. There are mini games available in addition to the normal tennis. Some mini games are challenging but also fun and offer differ type of playing than just normal tennis. The mini games would also help the player to develop skills when playing tennis match.

Controller configuration is basically useless, there are not much to be adjusted as the game only uses couple buttons, others are either unused or repeat of the same function, making the modern multi-button controllers too much for it.

Sega Superstars Tennis is quite a fun tennis games with some of Sega's more well known characters throughout the years. While it is a tennis game, it also offers other mini games to entertain the players. Overall, it is enjoyable for adults and kids alike.
