Fun adventure gameStrengths: Variety of things to do, different playable characters. Weakness: Some parts are very simple to complete. This is a very fun action-adventure game for all ages. It is pretty simple at first to start playing, but there are a ton of levels with a variety of tasks for each level. This is a remake from an N64 game, but a ton of things have been added such as minigames, new playable characters, and the use of the Nintendo DS touch screen. Using the touch screen is not mandatory, but may be preferred to controlling your character using the directional pad. The graphics are great for a handheld game. You are also given the opportunity to save frequently, so you won't find yourself having to turn off the game and losing progress. Its a fun platform game and each character you choose has unique abilities that will make them better suited for certain tasks. Mario can punch and kick jump off walls among other things. Yoshi can flutter as well as turn enemies into eggs. Wario is slower but more powerful and can break into places others can't. And Luigi is faster and can run across water for a short period of time. Even though it is a Mario game it offers a fairly lengthy amount of play as there are so many things to do in this not even including the minigames that you can unlock that are great for killing time and trying to set high-scores. I highly recommend this as one of the best DS games out. 62% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Excellent remix of an already great game. Weakness: Some camera issues, nothing major. Super Mario 64 DS is a great remix and an awesome game to show off the DS with. Control with the stylus is relatively simple, and the graphics are on par with the N64 version. 62% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: The base game here is amazing. Still one of the best. Unlockable minigames are fun. Weakness: Control is just awful. You've played Super Mario 64, right? Called the best game ever upon its release by many, the first 3D platformer to do it all right, still one of the best games you could hope to play? Well, now Nintendo has put it on the DS, and they've added a few things to it... while taking out one crucially important element that drops the fun significantly. 57% of readers found this review helpful. Super Mario 64Strengths: 3-D, something worth your money. The only thing that gives it a replay value are the mini games. The mini games are fun, unique, and original. Weakness: If you're going to be playing a 3-D game, you need a analog stick. You could play it using the D-pad, but the game would had been much better if the Nintendo DS had a analog stick. If you own a Nintendo Ds you must own this game. They are now offering it free when you purchase a Nintedo DS. If you have played Super Mario 64 don't buy it, unless you really liked it. The only new features are you could now use Wario, Luigi, and Yoshi. The only reason I still play it are the mini games. 56% of readers found this review helpful. Super Mario 64Strengths: Great Graphics, Looks awsome on a handheld. The mini Games. Weakness: The controls and camera angels. The adventure option is the exact game as the Nintendo 64 version. The game looks really nice on the DS. With that being said, it is not fun to play. The controls are frustrating and most of the times i cannot make Yoshi go where i want him to. Then the camera is is off and it is hard to turn around and look. Also it gets pretty boring returning to levels just to find more stars. 54% of readers found this review helpful. Super Mario 64Strengths: Terrific graphics, Expanded gameplay from the N64 original, 4 Playable main characters, Great unlockable touchscreen minigames accessable from start screen, Single cart multiplayer. Weakness: Difficult to control with digital pad and touchscreen control isn't much better, We've seen it before for the N64 and its similar (120 of the 150 stars are the same). Just about every gamer knows about Mario 64 and the way it revolutionized platform games and 3-D gameplay. It pretty much started it all. But how does this translate on to a handheld system, half a decade after it was orginally launched? Better than you may think, but some flaws are still evident. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Mini game mode, use of the touch pad. New stars and new characters. Weakness: No joystick makes the game difficult at times. Nintendo has improved on one of the greatest games ever made. There are new stars to get and 3 more characters to choose from. Each character can perform different things and use of all of them are required to complete the game. The mini game mode is also entertaining and a good use of the touchpad on the nintendo ds. Overall this game is extremely fun and a must have if one owns the nintendo ds. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64 DSStrengths: More charcters than the console version Weakness: Almost exact port of a 10 year old game; Difficult to control Super Mario 64 DS is the portable version of the Nintendo 64 Super Mario 64 released almost 10 years ago. The game has exactly the same boxy graphics as the original and manages to carry over all the fun as well. The problem with this tho, is that because there is no analog stick that made the console version control wonderfully, the game is extremely difficult to control on the DS. The best use would be the thumbstrap that came with the DS, but I still cannot seem to get used to it, even 10 months later. Good, but certainly not the best DS game to purchase. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Multiple characters to play as, Added stuff that wasen't in the N64 version of the game - tons of mini games, some new levels, multiplayer mode Weakness: no analog stick on the Nintendo DS & you don't have as good of control over your character with the D-Pad or using the Stylus Remake of the game that defined how 3D Platformers would be made & was the measuring stick for other 3D platformers on the 32-bit, 64-bit systems. On the N64 version of Mario 64 you played as Mario thoughout the whole game. The interesting thing about Mario 64 DS is that you don't even start out playing as Mario when you first start playing the game. You will have to find & free the other character to use them & find yourself having to change characters as you may have to use certain character to over come certain obstacles in order to obtain all the stars in the game. The only thing I didn't like about the game is simply the fact that you don't have an analog stick on the DS & once you spend some time playing the game you realize how much better control you had over Mario with the analog stick on the N64 then you could have with any D-Pad I would still highly recommend this game to anyone that likes platformers & was a fan of Mario 64. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Super Mario 64Strengths: Remake of the original, so if u liked the original I guess you'll like this one, Some of the minigames are fun for a little bit. Weakness: horrible control, boring levels with rehashing the same level over and over to get more stars, outdated game mechanics. I never liked the original Mario 64 and I tend not to like 3D platformers in general. The only recent ones I've enjoyed are the ones like Jak and Daxter the first one and Prince of Persia the sands of time. However with the limited game library for the DS I found myself wondering why I even bought the console. The game with the highest reviews was Mario 64 of course so I figured I'd give it a go. Turns out it was a big mistake even though I got it at a decent price. The game has horrible control since the analog stick isn't there. Using the touch screen as an analog stick doesn't help at all. I think I got bored after 30 minutes of playing this game. Personally I'd rather play the old 2d platformers than this any day. The graphics are ok (n64ish), and it was a bit amusing at first, but collecting stars in the same levels over and over is not fun. The lack of control makes the game quite boring as well. However Nintendo and Mario 64 fanboys will have fun with it. For that I'll give it 2 stars instead of 1. And also the mini games gave it a bit of redemption though those didn't last very long anyway. And of course unlocking them all requires you to play the game. So the mini games won't make the game worth buying if you aren't going to enjoy the full game. 43% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Mario can't jump very well For this review's strength's ad weakness's I decided to straight to the source, my 10 year old son. Super Mario 64Strengths: There is a whole lot to do in this game (150 stars to get). Graphics are clean and don't get in the way. One of the original 3D adventure games and perhaps still the best. Weakness: Analog stick emulation has its issues. Sometimes it's easy to get lost as to what you have to do. First off, this game is basically the same game that you played on the Nintendo 64 some 10 years ago. However, the game has aged well. The graphics are clean. The camera is mostly hassle-less. And there is a whole bunch of stuff to do in the game. Is the game worth the rebuy/replay? Well, I can't really say whether it is or not because I never owned or extensively played the original. However, having played this remake, I have to say the original game certainly deserved the high review scores. 43% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64 DSStrengths: Great Graphics, Mini Games Weakness: Rehash of the Game for the N64, Controls Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo DS is probably the only game worth paying full price for the DS right now (maybe WarioWare Touched too). The game provides hours of entertaining game play by delivering the classic platforming action of the Mario genre from Nintendo. The game offers some fun new Mini-Games as well. If you've never played the game before on the N64 or your missing the old days, this game is for you. 33% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: -Very vibrant and colorful worlds. -Responsive controls -Wide appeal Weakness: -Awkward Thumbstrap controls take some getting used to. -Could have used more original content. Just about everyone is familar with this now classic Mario title, but it is not until you spend a good deal of time with it on the DS that you realize how enjoyable it is as a portable game. Mario 64 has the complexity and depth that most portable games lack, and enough original content to justify a purchase even for those who have already played through the original. 29% of readers found this review helpful. Super Mario 64Strengths: It's fun to get stars, some of the mini games are quite fun, can use d pad if you dont like touch control Weakness: People who can play Mario 64 in their sleep may be put off that it does not play exactly the same, touch screen is an awkward replacement for a control stick, camera is hard to get to I've never really played Mario very much on the 64, so this game was a new experience for me. I like it a lot. I have a tough time using the touch controls, but I'm quite happy with the dpad. (However the camera is still touch. That can get troublesome.) It's all of the great fun of getting stars that you had in the original, plus a few extras. You can play as multiple characters, all with their own special skills. You can also unlock minigames. Some are quite addicting. Anyway, I love this game. However, my friend has a diffrent opinion. He's played the original so much he could do it in his sleep. He couldn't stand this version, as much as the extras appealed to him. The controls just seemed wrong to him, and he didn't like the dpad either. I imagine that many people who are totally new to the game will take the new controls in stride, but more experienced players will feel uncomfortable. Keep this in mind. Super Mario 64Strengths: Mario characters; mini-games; timeless gameplay; free form gameplay; improved graphics with updated textures Weakness: It's still super mario 64 from N64 days This game is and deserves to be one of the top games in regards to the DS lineup. The familiar world of Super Mario jumps to a 3-D perspective, and with it, the boundaries of Mario gets pushed to interesting new gameplay mechanics that now have been implemented as standard features. The father of 3D gaming gets refreshed with an updated palette, and it sure looks pretty! Mario and friends look great. The N64 mario does not age well and Nintendo deserves kudos for going in there and tinkering with the artwork by swapping in new textures. This doesn't even push the Nintendo DS hardware but the colors and playfullness of the graphics just draw you in like no other game. Mini-games are very fun, and provided you have another DS owner nearby, this will definitely extend the replaybility of this game ten-fold. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Portable version of the greatest platformer of all time, improved texture mapping. Weakness: Lack of analog (touch screen with thumb nob is a poor substitute), poor camera. I have been waiting years to finally have Mario 64 on the go and now Nintendo has finally granted me my wish! In 1996, this was proclaimed the greatest game of all time and in many ways, it still is nearly a decade later. I mean, how often do we hear about platformers being the next great "Mario-killer?" Not many platformers have lived up to the billing because they never come close to rivaling the sheer scope, gameplay and fun that Mario 64 provides. While Nintendo has updated the game with improved texture mapping, it's a win/lose situation. Yes, the game does look better BUT it also suffers jagged edges and pixelated polygons (N64's hardware had better anti-aliasing and blurring features). These graphical blemishes are hidden somewhat because the screen is small. I also like the fact that you can choose from Mario, Wario, Luigi and Yoshi as playable characters (they all play differently according to their strengths and skills) so the game doesn't just feel like a rehash of the original. My only gripe with game is the somewhat broken controls. Using the touch-screen is a poor substitute as an analog controller, especially when you have to stretch your thumb all the way to the middle of the DS. The D-pad feels a lot more comfortable but it's not as precise and your thumb often gets cramped because of all the constant pressure you have to apply to make the character move. Lastly, the mini games are an absolute blast. You unlock more as the game goes on but they make great use of the touchscreen. I can definitely see the great potential the DS has after playing some of the mini-games. Despite some control flaws, I give Mario 64 my highest recommendation. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Super Mario 64Strengths: Mario 64, great gameplay, fun Weakness: no analog stick Game plays just like Super Mario 64, without an analog stick. There are tons of additions to this game over Mario 64, the most notable being the minigames. The minigames use the DS's touch screen perfectly. They are great games! Overall, this game is excellent, although no analog stick can be frustrating. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: -Classic reborn on the DS -Character specific puzzles -Lots of fun touch screen mini-games Weakness: -Controls aren't the same without analog stick -Getting all the stars isn't as rewarding When I got my DS in January, I bought this game along with Feel the Magic. I was very happy with my purchase as the mini-games alone made it worth the price of admission. I was first turned off by the thumb strap control but later it became second nature. Though at times I just stick to the D-Pad. The biggest change from Mario 64 going from N64 to DS is the inclusion of Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario as playable characters. It really adds to the experience in a great way and also brings in an additional 30 stars to unlock. Honestly I lost interest in the main game once I hit 80 stars and was able to fight the final form of Bowser. I was more into the mini-games because of the touch screen factor, but I soon lost interest to other games. I still rate it a 4 because its a great introductory game to the DS but not strong enough to call it a must own. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Absolutely classic game remade for the better, lots of fun minigames Weakness: Control can be troublesome One of the first titles I picked up with my launch Nintendo DS, this is a technically excellent remake of the Nintendo 64 classic Super Mario 64, with several improvements such as new levels and characters. The control scheme is probably the most notorious thing that plagues this game. I personally found it to be mildly annoying when starting off, but after some practice it really proved to work quite well; but it's not the analog stick the game was designed for. Super Mario 64Strengths: Impressive graphics, classic gameplay, addictively fun minigames, a few new levels, wireless multiplayer mode. Weakness: Controls are awkward with touchscreen, generally the same game as the N64 version. As someone who has barely played the original Super Mario 64, this was the first game I purchased for my Nintendo DS. The controls took a little getting used to, but they are decent. The game offers three control methods, but none of them are as intuitive or precise as the N64 analog stick. Once I figured out the controls, it's a very fun game. The graphics are even more impressive than the N64 original, the music is crisp and enjoyable, and there are many extra features. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Awesome game Weakness: You dont' really ever use the Touch Screen This is basically Mario 64 redone, with more characters and MINIGAMES!! The minigames are the best. Try the first one in Wario's section with the Bomb-Oms. You start as Yoshi and have to unlock the other characters, you can switch between them out of levels to get different stars. This game and the Nintendo DS are both MUST HAVES Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Super Mario 64Strengths: Port of classic game, portable, graphics Weakness: Not much innovation, port of existing game with nothing new Ever played Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64? This is the same game with a few additions. The main difference between the two is in the controls and the fact that it is portable. With the Nintendo DS touch-screen functionality, you can move your character by touching the character and dragging him across the screen with your finger or with the included stylus. Of course, you can also use the normal controls via the D-pad. The graphics are similar to that of the Nintendo 64 version. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top
