Major League Baseball 2K8Strengths: Realistic Weakness: Difficult to master This is a good game for a real baseball enthusist. The game is ralistic, but for a person that just wants to play a video game, it may be a bit much to learn how to play it and have fun. The game can be dificult to play regarding the controls for hitting, running, etc. I would recommend if you are a die hard baseball fan. If you are looking for a simple 'let's play ball' just open the box and play sort of game, this one may be more than what you were looking for. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Fun but frustrating due to glitchesStrengths: Pitching, commentary, good graphics Weakness: Near-constant interruptions lost contact with controllers; difficult to master This game requires a lot of controls to work with, and mastering them is difficult for a novice gamer. Of course, you have much better control over the players - you can lead off, steal, slide, jump up the walls, etc. The graphics are good, but not outstanding. The running commentary (voice acting) is excellent - Joe Morgan has more insightful comment in the game than in real life baseball games. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Batter up!Strengths: Batting & pitching. Weakness: No Wii Connect 24 (on-line), 2K card system or minor league teams. It's not perfect, but it's a good start and certainly leaves room for improvement for the 2K9 version. Wiimote implementation is pretty spot on. If you can live with its shortcomings and hope they're fixed in the 2K9 version, I recommend you give it a swing. It's a very fun and playable baseball sim for your Wii. When you're ready for something a little more...Strengths: MLB licensed with official stats, unique player movements Weakness: Hard to master controls When you are looking for something a little more challenging than the baseball game in Wii Sport, then step up to the plate with MLB 2K8. While the commentary from Jon Miller and Joe Morgan are a quite a novelty, it is poorly timed or sometimes wrong. The graphics are decent and players (especially those with distinctive movements and batting stances) are easy to recognize. However, facial details are bad as well as crowd and other background details. Since the controls are more difficult to master, the absence of a fielding practice mode is a problem. Another nice feature: deep franchise mode - where you can call up minor leaguers. Too bad there isn't a way to update rosters and stats. Introduced at the $50 price point, prices have come down to the $30 level as the baseball season progresses. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Engaging and Fun to PlayStrengths: Current major league player information, announcing of the play by play, fielding Weakness: Difficult to master right out of the box- takes some time to get used to the controls This is a wonderful game for the wii baseball lover. All the current major league baseball rosters are listed which adds to the realistic feel of the game. The annoucing of the games is so realistic that you feel like you are at the ball park. The controls take a lot of getting used to. This is a game that has to be practiced so playing right out of the box can be a little frustrating. With practice the fielding and hitting is a ton of fun. For the Wii, I like the graphics and each offical ballpark is detailed. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Good for the MoneyStrengths: Pitching and Batting Weakness: Base-running and fielding I got this from amazon for about 25 bucks. A good price for a Wii game. I have enjoyed playing it. There are a few glitches and some difficulty with base-running and fielding controls but overall a pretty good game. I really think the commentary by Jon Miller and Hall of Famer Joe Morgan is a great seller for this product as well. It is pretty accurate with a small delay at time when an out is called after they are in mid-commentary. The pitching is pretty amazing with great detail. Instant replays of pitches are great and the artificial intelligence of the game seems to be pretty accurate. This game is overall a great buy and fun to play. Fielding and base-running can be difficult at times but it's really just a matter of getting used to the controls. MLB The Show for PS3 blows this game away graphically but 2K8 is very strong. Additional game modes: Exhibition, Home Run Derby, Franchise, Season. Disappointed to see Manny Ramirez was not an option in the HR Derby but luckily David Ortiz is. I also like the player specific details such as Pitcher mannerisms seen with Daisuki Matsusaka (Dice K). Wonderful game! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Major League Baseball 2K8
Wii has had no shortage of arcade baseball. From day one it had the Wii Sports incarnation, which was eventually followed by the likes of The Bigs and MLB Power Pros. Now Wii owners finally receive their first baseball simulation in 2K Sports’ Major League Baseball 2K8. The result is a product that feels like, well, a first effort. 2K8 on Wii provides a decent game of ball overall, but is also... Top

MLB 2K8 for Wii is entertaining, but should be...
Strengths: Only Wii baseball sim, pitching is fantastic, fielding is better than most baseball sims
Weakness: NO online whatsoever, batting could use some tweaking
MLB 2K8 is your best choice as a "true" Wii baseball game. Pitching has been implemented very well and batting is passable (despite the fact that check swings hardly ever work).
However, there is no online component at all. I don't mind not being able to play online, but there MUST be downloadable rosters in this day and age.
The game is fun, but hopefully the kinks will be worked out next year.
