2nd best fighting game on Xbox 360Strengths: Graphics, Online play finally Weakness: Stages are dull like always, online play with countries half globe away is laggy. This game plays and feels very much like the original Soul Calibur for Dreamcast and Soul Calibur 2 for XB, GC, and PS2. That's a good thing because those two previous games were among the best in the series. In Soul Calibur 4, Namco adds more characters, tweaks the gameplay a bit, gives more customization, and finally includes online play. Everything is for the better. However it's still technically lacking at few parts compares to the still best fighting game on 360, Dead or Alive 4. First, Soul Calibur series' fighting stages has always been boring. Basically, you fight on a flat platform with either ring out or walls. This is so two generations ago. Was hoping the latest on more powerful hardware can add some spice to those dull stages. Unfortunately, nothing has changes. Second, the game loads pretty fast but it still seems to take longer than Soul Calibur 2 on the original Xbox. Finally, the biggest problem is with the new online mode. If you are playing someone online that's relatively close, there aren't much lag. However, if you are playing someone in Asian countries, there's a great deal of it. I have several friends in Hong Kong and we play DOA4 all the time with no major lag. SC4 however gets quite a bit more and becomes frustrating when your button presses show up a second later in a juggling combo. Overall, the game is good and deserves 4/5 stars. If Namco can optimize the netcode for worldwide play, then it would nearly tide the current fighting game king on the 360, DOA4. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Soul Calibur IVStrengths: Nice graphics, Star Wars characters, lot's of playable characters and customization. Weakness: Fighting get repetitive, Xbox D-Pad problems. I always have liked the original Soul Calibur games over the other fighting games because of the weapons. This game is over the top for the sheer amount of characters and the addition of Yoda and the Apprentice. The graphics are top notch and game play is very smooth. The arenas do get repetitive and you play the same character quite ofter considering how many there are. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Soulcaliber IV
Soulcalibur IV is more of a Tekken Tag-style collection than a true sequel. All your favorite characters return, plus many you probably don't care about, a couple newcomers you'll love, and several clones you'll wish didn't exist. Top

Soulcalibur IV
Strengths: Great graphics, online matches with friends, custom characters
Weakness: Short story mode, cheap players in ranked online matches
Soulcalibur IV has a lot going for it with its huge roster of characters and great graphics and gameplay. Being able to create custom characters to use is a lot of fun, especially when fighting online with friends. Star Wars fans will fins a few familiar faces with the inclusion of Yoda and Darth Vader's Apprentice in the Xbox 360 version. The PS3 version gets Darth Vader instead of Yoda but supposedly both systems will get the other character at some point via an online purchase. The fighting engine in Soulcalibur IV is really good and fun when playing but far too many people play really cheap in online ranked matches to make it any fun so it is best to play with your friends online. The Tower mode is a fun diversion but it is not very clear at times as what you need to do to unlock items so it can get very frustrating. Still, if you are looking for a fighting game, you will not find many that are better then Soulcalibur IV.
