Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Strengths: Good story that will keep Kingdom Hearts fans happy until the release of Kingdom Hearts II

Weakness: Card based battle system = UGH!!

In Chain of Memories you once again take the role of Sora and embark on an adventure that starts where the first Kingdom Hearts finished. I guess you can call this game a prequel to the sequel. The graphics are great for a Gameboy game and this is the first Gameboy game to have 3-D FMV in it, the video looks really good too. The sound is good also and is similar and sometimes exactly the same music that came from the original PS2 game. Now for my gripe, why did Square use a card battle system in this game? It just makes the game boring and way too easy at times and there is not much strategy needed to fight most enemies. For the most part this is a good game that anyone can pick up and enjoy, but it is definitely geared towards those who are already fans of the PS2 game.

Kingdom Hearts: CoM (GBA)

Strengths: Good Graphics and Disney Characters!

Fun game to play and recommended to everyone who played the original Kingdom Hearts on the PS2. If you are a fan of this series then you need to make sure to check this one out before Kingdom Hearts 2 releases.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Strengths: Excellent graphics

Weakness: Weak battle system

I liked Kingdom Hearts at first but after just a few hours the game got on my nerves. Sora and his two Disney pals return with a new card based battle system that is actually pretty cool at first. You use cards to attack, use magic, summon, etc. What made it cool was that the game play out in a sort of 2D beat em up fashion. Shortly after however, I got bored killing off the same Heartless creatures using the same tactics over and over again. It didn't help that the levels you travel in (once again based off of the Disney classics) are nowhere near as inspired as the movies.

I never finished the PS2 version but it seems like the story is largely the same since your trying to find your memories by reliving them. It didn't matter too much since it wasn't very interesting to begin with. Only worth a rental.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA)

Strengths: Different combat system

Weakness: Bit too much of a 'kiddy' feel

I enjoyed this game fairly well. The card-based combat was different and didn't detract from the feel of the game as much as I thought it might. The graphics are good, and the story seems solid. The inclusion of classid Disney characters made the game feel a bit too 'kiddy' for me.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Strengths: Fun Gameplay, Excellent story that takes place between Kingdom Hearts 1 and the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 2

Weakness: Gets boring cause sometimes it feels like you're just playing to advance the story, looks like its kiddy oriented but can get quite challenging - parents be warned when purchasing for younger kids

Kingdom Hearts Chains of Memories makes an excellent transition from PS2 to GBA. Don't let the card system deter you, its very much action packed and feels just like your playing KH. The best part about this is it fills the void between Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, so if you're a Kingdom Hearts fan its almost necessary to play this just so you know everything thats happens and don't miss anything from the storylines.

Kingdom Hearts

Strengths: Disney Characters, nice boxart, fun game

Weakness: short

Following up on the great original Kingdom Hearts for PS2 is this game for the gba. It is a fun game, but it is short, only about 7 hours long. I do recommend it though. The box has a nice shine to it and all your favorite disney characters are there. Pick this one up.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Strengths: All the characters you remember, bridges KH1 and 2 nicely (I assume)

Weakness: Card battle system is flawed

Remember Kingdom Hearts? Fun action RPG with the Disney and Square characters? Well, now there's a sequel on the GBA, but it's a card game, and not a great one. They tried to mix card battling with action-based fighting, and it didn't work so well. If you love the source material, you'll be able to stick it out, and maybe even get into it, but just as a stand-alone game, the concept isn't too sound.

the painful game of this series

Strengths: a good story and good graphics and a new charicter to be

Weakness: hard and annoying!

the game starts off where KH1 left off. sadly a card game isn't what people think is a kingdom hearts game the system of battle is a hard thing because in the other game you didn't have to buy attacks and in this game you must customize everything from your deck to you style . In the other game you find a weakness and you use it but in this game you have to make a whole new deck for each boss!

but you need it to understand KH2

Kingdom Hearts 1.5

Strengths: Strong storyline and graphically strong for a GBA game

Weakness: Card playing, visit same places as Kingdom Hearts 1.

The story begins directly where kingdom hearts for the PS2 leaves off. I'm 3 hours into the game and I found that the game is easy to just pick up and play, especially if you have played the game on the PS2. You can get stuck with going back and justing destroying the heartless without remembering that there is cards involved but you have to save some attacks and watch what cards you are using up during play. If you havn't played and finished Kingdom Hearts 1 I would think that you will get a little confused with the story in Chain of Memories.

Chain of Memories

Strengths: Interesting characters. Pretty good mix of gaming. Experimentive combat system.

Weakness: Experimentive combat system.

Chain of Memories is a decent game with interesting characters and an interesting combat system. There's a card systenm wheer you fight with a deck of cards to influence yoru attacks and abilities. it also has a card travel ssytem where the cards can influence what rooms you enter. It's different. The card system is definately different. But as with most first attempts, you'll eaither like it or hate it, and it does have its flaws.

Also, this game is a bridge between kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. So I definately suggest that you play Kingdom Hearts before playign this. If you didn't like Kingdom Hearts, than skip this as well.

Kingdom Hearts Advance Game

Strengths: This game combines both adventure and fighting which is an awesome mix.

Weakness: The game gets boring when you need a certain card from 0 to 9 to open a door and you don't have the right card so you have to keep on battling until you get it.

This is a good game to play. The Disney characters are funny and make the game exciting. This is my favorite game right now. If you have PS2, I would recommend buying the PS2 version over the GBA version.

I (Heart) This Game

Strengths: Good action RPG. Innovative mechanics.

Weakness: The game mechanics are more theoretically interesting than playing with them. Weak save system.

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories continues the Kingdom Hearts goodness and story. Like the original PS2 game, it is an action RPG.

There are two innovative things about this game. The first is the map system. You 'create' the landscapes you enter using cards. This means that the game is different every time you play, and you can customize what kind of areas you want to play.

The downside to that is that everything looks pretty much the same. Areas are identical, except for small cosmetic changes. The structure of the game, too, is more limited than you might think. The story is laid out in a very linear fashion, handing out the keys you need to get to the next chunk in predictable order. That's good, in the sense that you can't ever create a map that you can't solve. But it's bad in that it feels like you've got this cool, customizable mechanic that is really just sort of half used.

The other innovative thing is the card battle system. Rather than just being a button masher, you get cards and use your cards to attack. The game is still essentially a button masher, because many fights are too complicated to actually allow you to strategically think about the cards. But, you do get the strategic elements of deciding what to put in your deck and how you want to go about fighting. It's actually a neat idea in theory and I wish it worked a little better than it does, but they get points for trying something different that doesn't completely change the game in a bad way.

The more emotionally attached to Kingdom Hearts you are, the more the story will mean to you. But much of the dialogue and situations are essentially gibberish. As an exploration of what memories are, it's not bad. But it's not exactly a compelling story or plot.

The save system is functional, but poor for a portable game. The regular save spots are far too infrequent. You can save anytime (that's good) but if you do, the game stops (that's bad) and when you continue, that 'save' is erased.

It's not the hardest game, or the longest, but it is a good portable RPG. Best to seek out PS2 Kingdom Hearts first to maximize the experience, but it's still a good game even if you don't.

Disney Meets Squeenix

Strengths: Classic and recognizable characters in new surroundings

Weakness: Control is a little clunky, but few complaints

This is my introduction to the Kingdom Hearts series, where the world of Disney meets the worlds of Square/Square-Enix - mostly Final Fantasy in its many forms.

In general this is a fun game, with a mix of card-based and normal combat. The cards should scare off anyone opposed to that sort of system as you essentially have an unlimited supply of them.

I found the controls to be a little sluggish in some ways, probably by design, but not a design I usually enjoy in games. The environment and other gameplay elements more than make up for this, however.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Strengths: Recognizable characters, very good graphics (especially for a GBA game), unique battle system, interesting story, two different play modes (each with their own story).

Weakness: Linear gameplay, repetitive levels, gameplay is tedious at times.

The story picks up right after the first Kingdom Hearts game and acts as a bridge to the second game. You travel the worlds visited in the first game trying to collect Sora's lost memories.

The graphics are some of the best that I have seen on the GBA and the music is also pretty good. The combat system is different than that of Kingdom Hearts with the addition of cards which can be combined during combat to deal enhanced damage. Although use of the cards takes some getting used to, I liked the addition.

The design of the levels, however, is a bit of a letdown. All the worlds look the same--the only difference between the rooms is the wall and floor tiles.

Overall, the game is fun and I enjoyed it very much. I would purchase it again.

“THE ULTIMATE CARD GAME”

Strengths: The highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories reigns victorious in that it has a diverse combination of characters from our childhood Disney favorites to our great friends in Final Fantasy.

Weakness: Its downfall lies in it's execution as a real time card-based battle game which can be quite cumbersome at times and this is further emphasized by the lack of new environments.

As a game that is considered to be the sequel to the 2002 bestseller, Kingdom Hearts and the prequel to the highly anticipated 2006 Kingdom Hearts II this title need to live up to a long list of expectations. Well does it? I can affirm you that it has made itself a name in the videogame hall of fame list. This is a simple title that strives where all other card games fail. It has an arsenal of characters that lunge at you in order to fuel the somewhat slow paced plot. As a card game that this title automatically lends itself to an intricate system of card battle which are pretty much the same throughout the game. The interesting part lies in the fact that it has a diverse cast of foes and the ability to customize any kind of deck to defeat them. A great plus is that this game is played in real time which means that you aren’t refrain from movement. You can actually run around during battle and when the battle ends you earn different cards. These cards allow you to determine what kind of room you will enter into. As a result there are endless possibilities and increased replay value. So pick up a copy today…with a MSRP of $19.99.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

Do you ever stop and wonder who the daring genius was that decided to combine two totally awesome on their own things together to make something entirely new? I mean, who looked in the cupboard and saw the peanut butter sitting next to the jelly and thought, “You know what, I wonder what those two things would taste like together?” There are so many examples like this in our lives where two...

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

I was totally charmed by Kingdom Hearts for the PlayStation 2. Though it had its share of problems, I was captivated by the mix of Disney and Square characters. The storytelling was more than enough to keep me satisfied. As you can imagine, I was super psyched for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. The thought of a new adventure with Sora and the gang on my favorite platform had me drooling....
