Vivendi Universal HomeWorld 2

Strengths: Great Graphics, excellent sequel to the game of the year

Weakness: space background could use a little work, gameplay takes a little while to get used to

This game has never ceased to amaze me. The Clarity and brightness of the graphics and the overall feel of the game is just extremely smooth. I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a good game to play. It has so many different elements of strategy and flexibility of a space sim mixed with real time strategy. Get this game, you wont regret it

Vivendi Universal HomeWorld 2

Strengths: Beautiful ships, background, and space objects. Fun, huge battle. Nice user interface. Moddable.

Weakness: Lame single missions storyline. Dumbed down strategy. Annoying changes that's supposed to make the game 'better'

After waiting for years for this product, I was initially blown away by the amazing graphic. Gun turret rotates and kickbacks when it fires. Blazing trails of ships engines (though it becomes annoying in a huge battle, can't see anything with all those engine trails all over the screen). Explosion really rocks! Bits and pieces flying around and appropriate sound effects (cap. ships creaking before breaking apart, pulsar cannon hiss, etc.) Yes, the visual is amazing if you have the machine and card to run it.
My biggest complain is the short missions (15) and the strategy part. I think to please everyone, developer Relic (pressured by Sierra, I'm sure of it!) dumbed down the strategy. The fun of micromanaging your fleet in the older homeworld version was gone, no more X, wall, circle, etc formation. The defensive state does not work, friendly ships will chase and attack enemy ships across the map, eventhough it's just a small scout ship! The missions become two huge fleet slugging at each other, wearing at each other, the winner is the one who can stay the longest.
To be fair, I love the new subsystems in capital ships, where you can target just the engine, research module, weapon module, etc. But, then they're not very useful in those single missions, just delaying the inevitable destruction of the ship. The ship class divisions/types are also interesting, for example fighter class is fast and good against other fighters, but not against frigates and capital ships.

Vivendi Universal HomeWorld 2

Strengths: Amazing visuals and graphics. Excellent gameplay. Modder-friendly. Easy to learn controls.

Weakness: Not the Homeworld2 it could've been. Dumbed down strategy as stated in a previous review. Overly difficult SP, even having had the recent 1.1 patch to address this. Storyline is lacking, and no manual

Homeworld2 is an amazing RTS game. Despite the fact it's not as great as the game would've been if Sierra would've kept their noses out of development, it still manages to awe and excite me much like Homeworld did. The graphics look wonderful, and so do the amazing large space battles that occur. The game was designed with MODs in mind unlike Homeworld, so expect to see many great MODs to be released (Many already in development).
Unfortunately the two biggest weaknesses to the game has to do with how they "simplified" it. Too much micro-management was removed from the game, making it not only easier, but unfortunately doesn't leave you much to do during most skirmishes. Formations are probably what I miss most. The other problem is the storyline, or rather, lack there of. The story seems to have been pulled together quickly, as may actually be the case considering the problems Sierra (distributor) was causing for Relic (developer). You won't be provided with the amazing back story found in the large Homeworld manual, in fact, you won't find any manual at all. What little back story you get will be seen when you start the Single Player portion of the game.
Overall though, if you liked Homeworld, or RTS games in general, you will like/love Homeworld2.

Vivendi Universal HomeWorld 2

Strengths: good interface awesome graphics good story

Weakness: need very fast computer to play it can become slightly repetitive at times

I have now played Homeworld 2 for quite some time and I can say I thoroughly enjoy it. For those who have played the original homerowld game, I defeinietly recomend it - it's worth it - much better graphics, improved interface, same intersting story. I especially enjoy the fact that ships can now be build in squadrons and controlled that way, too. For people that have never played Homeworld, but always wanted to play a real-time strategy game - I definitely recommend it - if you have a decent computer. The tutorial is very well done and the AI is quite capable, so that you can set up your battles and enjoy the visual spectacle.

Vivendi Universal HomeWorld 2

Strengths: Nice graphics a true strategy game

Weakness: the backrounds look like there 16bit the singleplayer is vary hard the game has no difulculty setings not as good as the first homeworld you have to play a level atleast 3 times to beat it

When i first played the the first homeworld i was amased it was so great in every way the graphics for the time was amasing the story was so deep it was a great game it made the best game of the year. Now im playing homeworld2 4years later its not as good as the first but a true strategy game i meen its the hardest game i ever played thats what a strategy game should be but when you make a game so hard you need a good story to back it up to keep you going but homeworld2 don't have a great story nor a vary good story the pasing in the game is a big problem the first homeworld had great pasing not true in homeworld2 its all about fighting and war the voics in the game have no emotion and that herts the story it feels like your all alone in the game however the online play is much better than the first its vary fun.in all if you are a RPG fan you shouldn't get this game but if you are a strategy or a shooter fan this is a game you can be proud of.

Homeworld 2

It has been four years since Homeworld, one of the greatest Real Time Strategy games, was released upon the gaming world. It brought something new to the table that no other RTS game had done before, true 3D gameplay, an epic storyline, and awe-inspiring graphics all wrapped into one package, and it had gamers screaming for more. It took four years to create a proper sequel to this game, but was...
