Eidos Deus Ex 2: Invisible WarStrengths: Uber good graphics, great lighting effects, in fact the best i've seen yet. game play stinks of good old deus ex. Ragdoll phyics is cool. game has mass replayablity. Weakness: Game is a huge system hog, the game does not save your graphic and keyboard settings...the only way to get it to save is to edit the .ini files read only to not read only. Game tends to crash. This game is great after all the editing that you have to do at the start. I wish edios would have released DX2 after cristmas and actually finshed the little things that could turn off the casual user. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Eidos Deus Ex 2: Invisible WarStrengths: The graphics are OK. Weakness: The controls are confusing. The story and graphics are pretty good just the controls sort of prevent me from really enjoying this game. The game runs smoothly on my 1.6ghz, 512mb, and ATI AIW 9800 pro 128mb system. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Rushed GameStrengths: Strong story and decent RPG elements. Weakness: Skill system was taken away, game is short, and it's just too easy. Deus Ex Invisible War disappointed me. To be honest, it seems like the game was made in a rush and it wasn't all that fun. The weapons were unique and I liked the mods, but what's the deal with ammo clips? All of the weapons use one kind of ammo and most of the weapons use up way too much of it. I think it was a big draw back that if you run out of ammo clips...you're pretty much done for combat wise. The main story is way too short and the maps are small; there are a limited amount of side quests as well. Even though there are many draw backs, there are good things in the game worth looking at. The bio-mods are unique and give the gameplay a fun twist. The story is good and you will encounter some familiar faces from the original Deus Ex (won't spoil it for people who haven't finished). The visuals are beautiful and the sounds give it a good enviroment. Overall, I had a good time with it the first time through...but I didn't bother playing it a second time. But, if you're a big fan of the Deus Ex franchise and you need a new game, maybe you should consider picking it up. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Eidos Deus Ex 2: Invisible WarStrengths: Good graphics, good gameplay, multiple ways of playing, from stealth to open assault, from killing about everyone to killing absolutely no one. Weakness: Story is somewhat lacking when compared to DX1, and the character development is more limited, but still interesting. Definately a console title, rather than a PC title (even if it's for the PC too.) A good game overall. It could have been better, but some choices had to be made, and it was apparently decided for it to be cross-platform rather than just PC. The settings are varied and the story builds upon the story of DX1. Recommended for the gameplay, and the replay value and challenge if you want to go through by not killing anyone (really hard). Deus Ex: Invisible War
The first Deus Ex was met with oodles of praise and was considered by many to be one of the best games ever made. Now the sequel, Invisible War, has been released and is being held up to high standards set by the first one. Does it deliver? Well, it doesn’t offer up much of an innovation from the first game as it still provides the same brand of FPS/RPG (FPRPG?) gameplay with very few changes... Top

Eidos Deus Ex 2: Invisible War
Strengths: Greatly improved graphics from Deus Ex 1. Good sounds. Good character interactions. Good control
Weakness: Game is far too short! Many features that made Deus Ex 1 interesting and realistic have been "dumbed down" for this sequel detracting from overall feel and play. Story line feels uninspired.
Despite being a well engineered sequel to a fantastic game, as sequels tend to do, this game falls short on expectation. #1 gripe is game play length; far too short. Perhaps it's having been "trained" to play by the first game, in which case the sequel should take features, stunts and skills to a new level in order to extend the experience. The shared ammo, automatic code entry and all other shortcuts are misguided attempts at improving game play. The interface and features of Deus Ex 1 should have been left largely alone. The only exception is the "passive" versus "active" biomods, which I truly thought was a genuine improvement. Otherwise the storyline was somewhat predictable, your options for playable paths not altogether as seperate as expected with no inspiring cause to "fight for" as the climax approached. Graphics and sounds were great, music was a tad boring (an easily forgivable failure in this genre, though great music tends to help), characters were unmemorable and it simply doesn't feel true to the original plot and events.
On the other hand, straight combat is very well done. If it weren't for what feels like a shortage of "interesting" weapons, for shoot'em-up points alone this game is worth it. More of a rainy Saturday time-killer than an immersive all-nighter (the first Deus Ex was the latter).
