We Love This Wii Game

Strengths: Fun to play with a group

Weakness: None

This Wii game contains all of the winter sports - kind of like a Winter Olympics game. We love the Ski Jumping and the Luge. My husband is a Wii addict - he says he is working out and this is just another Wii sports game for him and our boys to "work out" with.

Would buy again!!

A pretty fun game

Strengths: Lots of different challenges and winter sports, makes good use of the wiimote

Weakness: The game can be challenging to figure out how to use the controls correctly

I've been looking for this game for a few months and FINALLY came across it at my local Best Buy. I snatched it up and went home and played right away. I LOVE the figure skating (kind of like a DDR but using your wrist instead of feet) the ski jump, and the bobsled. The slalom skiing is extremely challenging...still haven't figured that one out. For the price ($29.99) I really think this is a great addition to my Wii collection. Some of the events are hard to get a grasp on and it gets confusing to remember the right way to use the controls but I'm sure over time it'll get easier. Overall, it's a fun game and well worth the price.

Winter Sports for the Wii

Strengths: Nice variety of events and challenges

Weakness: Rather difficult to master the controls for each event.

The graphics for this game are fairly decent, and the events themselves can be a little tricky to master. It's pretty enjoyable to play with other people, but you can also play solo and try to break the records for each event. Nice game, and it replays pretty well.

Winter Sports: The Ultimate Challenge.

Strengths: Sledding and Ski Jump were fun. Glad I got it on sale for $20.

Weakness: Its an OK game at best.

I bought this game for the figure skating component. You don't really control the skater, as you have to correctly time the remote or nun chuck movement to perform the varoius tricks the skater has lined up.

However, I throughly enjoyed all the various sledding events. VERY CHALLENGING, because the remote must be moved ever so slightly for the sled to make the turn correctly.

Ski jump was fun because you have to leave the ramp precisely and controll the jummper in mid-flight to get the greatest distance.

Winter Sports Ultimate Challenge

Strengths: 9 different Winter Olympics events with some half-decent graphics and occasional good fun

Weakness: While not as bas as some of the cash-in games out for the Wii, it is nothing special

Winter Sports Ultimate Challenge is one of a slew of games looking to cash in on the very popular Wii pack-in game, Wii Sports. Since none of these games can quite capture the spirit of that innovative game, they usually go for a slightly different angle. This one, obviously, has gone for the winter sports niche. The games control well enough with some that are better (downhill skiing) and some that are worse (curling). The graphics are passable and the game is entertaining in short bursts but likely won't captivate you in the way Wii Sports does. The games are playable in single or multiplayer and there is a campaign mode for single player but the core gameplay consists of the same 9 games so there is very little depth or variety. No one has come close to duplicating Nintendo's effort on Wii Sports and this game is no exception.

Winter Sports: The Ultimate? Challenge

Strengths: Nice variety of sports, engaging competition, moderate graphics, some control schemes are excellent.

Weakness: Some control schemes are loose or unintuitive. Some of the sports are repetitive.

I purchased this for my boys (6,8) after they had run through the full gamut of sports on Wii Sports. This seemed like a novel shift to sports that could really utilize the Wii controllers, and in some ways it is very successful.
Ski Jumping is one of the favorites and they both like the bobsled/luge games. Though initially shying away from the figure skating ('that's for girls, Dad!) they both ending up having fun with it and like to 'cheer' each other on.

Overall I think it was a good purchase and a nice addition for our Wii library.

I'd recommend this if it were $20 or under.

A challenging game that tends too get old...

Strengths: Fun game with multiple people. A little challenging.

Weakness: Only 9 events - Alpine skiing, ski jumping, figure skating, speed skating, cross country skiing, luge, bobsled, curling, and skeleton.

Winter Sports: The Ultimate Challenge, is a fun game to play alone, or with a group of friends. It features a career mode, where you compete in all of the events, from the opening to closing ceremonies. There is also a campaign mode where you enter single events in order to break records and such. Considering there are only 9 events, the game gets old pretty quick. I would recommend only renting this game over purchasing it. 3/5 stars.

Did not meet my expections!

Strengths: Price

Weakness: Hard to master controls

The one extra word "Winter" makes a world of difference as this game has neither the fun nor "playability" of Wii Sports. I have no doubt that if Nintendo had written this game, it would be a LOT better. While the controls and movements for each event are relatively simple, we have yet to master them. The only event that had the immediate playability that I expected was Ski Jumping. The controls/movements for Figure Skating are really contrived and I have yet to figure out how to build up a good head of steam at the start in Luge/Bobsleigh/Skeleton. Though I only paid $20 for this game, it is the only game in my collection that I regret buying.

Wii Winter Sports

Strengths: I really love how you can do a career in the game and win medals like in the real Olympics. I also love how there are so many games you can choose from.

Weakness: It is a little confusing on how to set it up.

Overall I love this game. My family and I get a kick out of it. The medal ceremonies are like the real thing. The cross country skiing is a really good work out, but my favorite is figure skating.

Winter Sports: The Ultimate Challenge

The sequel to last years chilly RTL Winter Games 2007 has arrived on Wii at a budget price. While the name is about as generic as they come, the game isn't all that bad. Some of the sports are definitely stinkers, but there are some reasonably well done events that use the Wii Mote in new ways. But, like the name, the game is fairly bland. There are 9 different sports (15 disciplines) to play and...
