Way better than the pink DS!

Great gaming system and the perfect gift for my fiancee for she and I would fight over using my DS due to the fact that she loved playing her mario brothers games, so I decided to buy this DS. I admit the extra money was frustrating but when you factor in the Nintendo Dogs game and a rebate from my local FYE, It all worked out! :) Plus the pricegrabber.com review bonus was a plus!

Overall she loves it! Best gift I have gotten her so far!

Great device, nice bundle

Strengths: Sturdy and durable, quality display

Weakness: Nothing significant

I stumbled upon the Gold Zelda bundle and bought it for my son. I admit, I wasn't tremendously impressed with the device; it seemed too small, and I wasn't convinced it would stand up to punishment. What I hadn't anticipated was that my three-year old daughter would really enjoy playing with her brother's DS Lite (much to his dismay). When my local target found a box full of the Metallic Rose DS Lites with Nintendogs in the stockroom and put the units on the shelf just as I was walking by, I knew it had to be fate. (My wife, on the other hand, thought it was a pretty outrageous thing to buy for a 3-year old).

My daughter, who loves dogs, absolutely loves her DS lite -- it's even better than her brother's because it has the paw print on it. Furthermore, while I think it'd be a stretch to say she really understands the game, she does enjoy watching "her dog" and trying to interact with it.

My fears about the sturdiness and durability of the device have been put to rest. My daughter, as expected, is pretty rough on her DS Lite, but not only is it still functioning perfectly, it's not really even showing any signs of wear. As for my original thoughts that the DS Lite was *too* small, well, I still think it feels insubstantial in my rather large hands, but it seems to work just fine for both my son and my daughter.

On the whole, I think the DS Lite is a great device, and while I normally think the whole *new color* scheme is a pretty pitiful way to make money, I think both the Metallic Gold and the Metallic Rose holiday bundles with their packaged games are good values. I know they've made my children happy.

Strengths: It comes with a game. it came with an extra wand the same color. it's a great gift for a girl.

Weakness: Boys will not really like it's color. but other than that it's just a nintendo ds does the same stuff as any other and is great.

My girlfriend loves it. I bought it for her for christmas and she barely puts it down. She loves the little paw print on it cause she's a dog lover and the game is perfect.

Great, fun portable gaming console

Strengths: Portable, long lasting battery life, fun games for all ages, bright screen, fast responses, touch screen interface. Support multi-player via built-in wireless network.

Weakness: none so far

I was considering both Nintendo DS Lite and Sony PSP for my two young kids aged between 8 and 6. Sony PSP was very attractive because it has a large screen and can be used as a media player.

After talking with a store employee and doing some internet research, I decided to to go with the DS Lite because it has a friendlier touchscreen interface and it has games tailored for younger kids. I also read that PSP's battery life only last for about an hour or two, while DS Lite battery lasts ~8 hours.

I went with the special edition version, instead of the vanilla version, because it has a nicer metallic finishing and comes with a nice NintenDog game. I was impressed with the graphical quality of the game, and my kids really like to have a virtual pet that they can take care of and play with it. The game was quite interactive. You can bath it, walk it, feed it, and train it to do tricks.

Another nice thing about the DS Lite is that one can share the same game with multiple DS Lite consoles via a built-in wireless network. DS games are designed to allow multiple players to either compete or collaborate in the game setting. My kids had a lot of fun playing DS Lite with her friends.

P.S. I must confess that sometimes I stole their DS Lite and play Mario DS 64 game. :-)

DS Lite Metallic Rose Bundle w/ Nintendogs: Best...

Strengths: Cool color for girls, comes with a free game

This edition is great for girls, especially ones that like dogs. this console also comes with a free game, which is a nice bonus. my daughter loves the voice activated commands. at first she had a hard time training for her voice commands, but she got it after a few tries.
Overall I recommend this product for girls who like dogs.

Great system and game!

Strengths: Great-looking, fun to play

I bought this for my 6-year-old daughter's birthday and she just loves it! It is a perfect color for a little girl -- pink and shiny. And the "Best Friends" game is her favorite!
