World in Conflict

Strengths: graphics, single player story, multiplayer action

Weakness: high PC requirements, short single player mode

World in Conflict is a PC game about the Soviet Union invading the United States in the 80s. As such, the weaponry is all modern day - humvees, tanks, helicopters, infantry.

The graphics in this game are outstanding if you have a computer powerful enough to have the settings on high.

The single player story is great - with cut scenes used to tell the story - but its a little on the short side.

But the multiplayer action will keep you coming back to this game. The multiplayer games are fun and intense.

Overall, I would highly recommend this game.

This is a MUST-HAVE

Strengths: Extremely realistic details, especially the smoke and the terrain. Highly addictive gameplay, widescreen and dual monitor support and free online play! This gotta be a must-have for all gamer!

Weakness: It needs the disc to play which is kinda annoying if you only have one optical drive, and the story mode is a bit short in my opinion but other than these, this game is perfect!

Make sure you have vista and a powerful DX10 card like nvidia 8800+/amd HD2900+ to fully enjoy this game because some eye candies are only available for dx10 cards.

World in Conflict (Full Product, DVD-ROM, PC)

Strengths: Graphics, gameplay, did I say graphics?

Weakness: None

This game is great!!! It combines the RTS and FPS into a fantastic battle between communists and Americans in a modern invasion of the US. Interesting storyline, and even more captivating detail. Be aware, though, you need a powerful computer to play this game and to see all the details, but its worth the investment.

World in Conflict

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: None

This game plays much like a modern version of Company of Heroes. Though not identical, it shares the same tactical layout. Control points, artillary bombardment, air dropped support units, etc. All in all a very enjoyable and challenging title. The graphics are INCREDIBLE. Smoke, lighting, explosions, among the best I've ever seen. Strongly Recommended.

Time to upgrade your rig

Strengths: Game play, graphics and strategy.

Weakness: Stringent system requirements.

I recently upgraded my rig to a Quad Core and 8800 GT, so this game runs smoothly at high settings. Be warned that this game will tax your system to the hilt! Beyond that, game play strategy is suburb & fresh. I've spent countless hours and days playing this game. The campaigns are great albeit a bit long. I recommend downloading the demo of this game from the maker to see how well it plays on your system and how you like the game. I highly recommend it!

World in conflict

Strengths: the best strategy game ever

Weakness: a little bit short storyline

I think this is the best strategy game I have ever played. Taht's it! Its storyline is so interesting, its gameplay is addiction, and its graphics and sound effects are fantastic. Its online play is free and fun to play. What I can say more... Just play it and you can feel what I am talking about. Keep in mind one thing: I play this game with 8800 GTS 512mb -SLI graphics card. In this setting its graphics are fantastics. But one of my friends played this game with 8600GT and I felt that its graphics became deteriorated badly.

Can't we all just get along?

Strengths: Gameplay, innovation, graphics, setting, multiplayer, everything.

Weakness: Demandind on systems, so you're warned.

WiC is awesome. They took a hackneyed concept like a soviet invasion of the US and made it compelling by the realism, urgency, and quality of gameplay. It feels like a war between two superpowers. Further, the game ahs inovvative new ways of organizing and recruting troops unlike the tired (harvest, build, attack, repeat) formulas of the past. It's a compelling game and one of the best RTS's in a long time.

World in Conflict

Strengths: Graphics Story Innovative Resource System

Weakness: Campaign Length

Although I prefer FMV cut-scenes (E.g. C&C series), I really liked the voice in between missions. It gave the game a much more dramatic feel. I just wish the campaign length was longer.

The graphics in this game are amazing, and the resource system is innovative. I'm used to the standard RTS resource gathering paradigm. The time-based system in this game is refreshing.

Fun game

Strengths: Great graphics and gameplay

Weakness: Need a decent system to run at nice settings

I'm not a huge gamer by any means, and I don't like playing FPS much. I am very picky about games I get into since I don't have time to play all the time (as I'd like to). I like to get into a good, solid game here and there and this one fits the bill.

I've always enjoyed games with strategic-style gameplay. The graphics and stunning detail in this game make it more fun to play. The audio quality is great. Again, as a non-gamer it took me a while to get used to how to use the commands and buttons.

The only problem is I haven't had more time to get into it!

Great game

Strengths: Awesome graphics Great game play Incredible effects Cool weapons and units Pretty interesting story (what if WWII didn't end?)

Weakness: No building. You purchase units instead of building them. 3D view takes a bit to get used to especially coming from Starcraft.

Nuke alone is enough to buy this game. This is like C&C times 10. The action get pretty frenetic at times.
This game should suffice until 2009 when Starcraft II comes out.

Great multiplayer RTS

Strengths: Updated regularly, Integrated VoIP, Clan/group invite system, amazing graphics, no resource gathering

Weakness: Need at least an ATI X800 or better video card to run at MINIMUM settings. Still at minimum the graphics look great.

I've been playing this since the open multiplayer beta, and have had a blast. There are four roles you can pick: Infantry, Armor, Air, and Support. Each one is a very different role, which gives you a fresh take on the same game. Each role is fairly well balanced, and as I listed in the strengths, the game is updated regularly. If there is an imbalance, that is usually handled in an update.

The other good part of WiC is the ranking system. You don't just advance on the leaderboards with a ton of play time then just sit around at the top. New players are able to climb up in the rankings by playing games regularly. If you don't keep playing, your leaderboard status goes down, making room for new players.

There is also a badge system and lots of statistics, just like with Battlefield 2, so you have something to look at after all of the hours you've played. It keeps track of all of your kills, time played for each role, and each side (NATO, USA, or USSR), tactical aid used, etc.

Also, there are NUKES. Aside from nukes there are many other different types of Tactical Aid you can drop on enemies, or to help your fellow players. The other major advantage to this game is that you get reinforcement points built up over time, and don't have to worry about mining resources like in Starcraft, Warcraft, or C&C. You focus on KILLING, not mining, and that makes the game more fun.

Grab the game, it will pay for itself in fun in just a week or 2.

Wold in Conflict

Strengths: Excellent graphics, exciting game play, well done story line.

Weakness: Steep system requirements to enjoy the highest level of detail.

The game will play acceptably on a Core2Duo system with a Nvidia 7900 or above graphic card. The DirectX 10 features are nice, but they don't make or break this game. Perhaps, for me, the best feature of this game vice the many other quality war RTS's is that you don't get bogged down with building infrastructure. If your units are getting depleted just call in reinforcements. You call for the tank. You don't have to build a tank.
