Not worth a minuteStrengths: The southern accents in the game. Weakness: Everything This game was absolutely horrific. I actually spent the time to sit all the way through this game and I hated every minute of it. You start off by selecting on of a few characters (each has different handling abilities) and then you carry different cargo with that character across several checkpoint races. The races are pretty difficult (I had to do each race about 6-10 times) and allow no room for error. Once you do commplete a level, you get to do a parking challenge where if you succeed, then you get an upgrade to your truck. There are 4 or 5 races and once you beat them, the game is over. Short and sweetStrengths: Fun 18-wheeling adventure racing Weakness: short, graphics are just blah, not much to do If you're looking for a racing game that you can beat in a day, then this is the game you're looking for. There are several modes in the game, but the most important is the arcade mode where you race through checkpoints before time runs out. You have to dodge obstacles and hit time markers (cars) to make it from point A to point B. hile this may sound a bit cheesy... well I guess it is cheesy. Nonetheless, it's actually a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the funs over as quickly as it begins. Between the arcade mode and parking mode (where you practice parking an 18-wheeler... also more fun than it sounds), it may take you a few hours. Beyond that, there's not much more to do. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

18 Wheels but how many hours of fun?Strengths: Parking Mode, Arcade feel Weakness: Short with not much to do, Steering wheel can't be done like the arcade game, nothing added over the arcade or Dreamcast version 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker is a fun game that has a very arcade feel to it much like Outrun does with limited time to make checkpoints, the difference being you are controlling a big bulky truck. 18 Wheeler is a port of the arcade game & Dreamcast game so it doesn't quite bring home the arcade experience 100% as when you played in the arcade it had a big steering wheel which also had force feedback to give you the feeling of actually driving a big truck. The one thing that they should have if they could have is add lots of extras as you only have 4 tracks to race though in the single player mode making the game rather short. You also have a parking mode where you have to park your truck in a certain spot without going outside of the parking spot when you put on the brakes which is actually more fun then it sounds like, a point mode which is alright but won't keep most interested for long & a 2 player mode which you could get some use out of if you have a friend that is also interested in the game. Overall I would suggest renting 18 Wheeler to anyone that this may sound fun to or is a fan of anything Sega that has that arcade feel from them but as the game is not very long I couldn't warrent a purchase to most unless they find it cheap, but it's fun while it last :) Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker
Originally an arcade-only game created by Sega, "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker" has now been ported to the PS2 console by Acclaim. This means that everyone who's had a desire to pilot a big-rig can do so without leaving the couch. 18 Wheeler includes four different driver/truck combinations that can be chosen from and each has very distinctive characteristics. For example, there's Asphalt... Top

18 Wheeler American Pro Trucker
One of the many wild and wonderful qualities about Sega is that it tries so many different kinds of games, it experiments with novelties and unproven concepts - with good and bad results - and it's, well, just kind of wacky with some of its games. The latest Sega game, brought to PlayStation 2 owners by Acclaim Entertainment, is 18-Wheeler American Pro Trucker, a racing game based entirely on... Top

18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker PS2
Strengths: Drive a tractor trailer at arcade speeds on public roads, destroy obstacles in your path, become king of the highway
Weakness: Straight port of the old Dreamcast game, time-based portions of track become frustrating
Make no mistakes going into this. 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker is a speed-based arcade game, so you won't get any simulation practice here for your commercial driver's license. You will be racing over public roads, smashing into other drivers, running over lots of obstacles, etc. in a number of time-based races to beat competing drivers. The graphics and sound are about what you might expect from an arcade game, and the game itself is relatively short, maybe 4-5 hours total. There are a few driving mini-games as well, but they won't give you much replay value. Still, most race fans will probably be happy with this for the right price.
