Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door (GC)Strengths: Great graphics and sounds, offbeat storyline and action Weakness: None apparent Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is a sequel to the N64 game. It's an RPG story with Mario off rescuing Princess Peach, through some very offbeat action combat sequences and plot. It looks great and sounds great, and it's another must-have for the Gamecube. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: This game is so good, you will find yourself playing it more than once. Weakness: This game should have more challeging. Paper Mario: TTYD is a sequel to the original Paper Mario on the N64. Like in the past Mario RPG games, this one does not disappoint. It has everything to satisfy a gamer. 61% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Mario franchise...they have almost never gone wrong. Even better...mario rpgs...NEVER have gone wrong. This game is one of the best RPGS out and also is very funny. Weakness: Hmmm...don't know. First came Mario and the Legend of the Seven Stars(SNES), then Paper Mario (N64), then Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (GBA) and now this: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Like all its predecessors before it, this game has the humor and the ease of use that make this franchise such a great game. Personally, I prefer this RPG series over even Final Fantasy! (Notably one of the best RPGs ever made for any system. I know many people will disagree with me on that, but I just prefer games without too much depth but at the same time without too much superficiality. I think during other parts of my life...why think too hard on a game you know?) The length of the game is usually just long enough to keep me interested and not keep me in the house for too long. I don't have to become a couch potato to ever beat these RPGS. But the game is not so short that the story is undeveloped. Overall, this game along with the others I have mentioned are totally recommended by me. When you see a mario RPG, you can't get disappointed. 60% of readers found this review helpful. Paper MarioStrengths: Everything especially the music/sound effects Weakness: Nothing This game was really fun throughout the whole thing. There were times where it went kinda slow, but then it started up again. Every time I replay it there is something new to find. I also loved the drawings and characters. 60% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Wow super fun with paper.Strengths: Great sense of humor. Colorful and vivid graphics. Great sound. Weakness: None. The thousand year door. What does it do and what happens when you pass through it. You will have a good laugh playing this game. The dialog and story pokes fun at Mario and all of his cohorts in this great adventure. The first paper Mario game was great the this is just as good. Wonderful music and sound effects as you fight bad guy on stage in front of an audience. Lots of mini-games and coins to collect. Go get Paper Mario now. 60% of readers found this review helpful. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Excellent storyline, graphics are great, fun Weakness: None, this is a great game If you like RPG turn-based fighting and the zany characters from the Mushroom Kingdom, this is the game for you. The cartoon like graphics fit this title perfectly as you control Mario, and a host of other wild characters that will join your party along the way, in a quest to save none other than the always in trouble, Princess Peach. 58% of readers found this review helpful. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Paper Mario Fans (N64) will LOVE this game. Weakness: None Nintendo/Paper Mario Fanboys will enjoy this game to say the least. This is the second of the Paper Mario series and it will not disappoint. With stunning visuals and exciting gameplay, this game is worth every penny. With its recent price drop under $25 this is a game that you surely will want to pick up. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper MarioStrengths: 1. Mario's spring jump; 2. Yoshi can run fast Weakness: 1. Mario doesn't talk; 2. All the goombas look alike For this review's strength's ad weakness's I decided to straight to the source, my 10 year old son. He's played most of the way through the game and has thoroughly enjoyed it. He also purchased the game guide after playing about halfway through to get more detail about all of the surroundings. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Worthy of the lineageStrengths: Depth, humor, and fun factor Weakness: Audio is weak to nonexistent, not a traditional rpg Each of Nintendo's consoles have now had a Mario rpg game, and while Paper Mario is closer to its 64 version than the Snes, all three share a surprisingly deep and robust game experience. At face value, Paper Mario seems like a watered down rpg, a lite version of the epic Square/Enix offerings. Yes, the combat engine is different, yes navigating the world almost feels like a sidescroller, but different in this case leads to a rewarding rpg. Characters, quests and backgrounds ooze Nintendo style and there are a huge number of references for gamers familiar with Nintendo. The main problem I found was characters remain silent; for a world so vibrant, this continued ignoring of sound stands out all the more. It does not kill the game, but Nintendo should have included it. A word of warning though, this game is not for all, especially if you disliked the 64 version or dislike many of the Nintendo offerings because they are "too Mario." The title, and cover, should make this abundantly clear, though. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Fantastic game. Weakness: A little slow to start. After the amazing Paper Mario, Intelligent Systems comes right back at us with a stellar sequel. Mario fans will love it, RPG fans will love it, and fans of both (that's most of us, right?) will be hard-pressed to find a more enjoyable game. It may take a little while to really get going, but once it does, it's a great time indeed. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper MarioStrengths: Brilliant game design, graphics and sound Weakness: Kinda drags in certain parts of the game Paper Mario was much better than I thought it would be. Nintendo has managed to craft a gem that incorporates a unique and fun battle system with an engaging storyline. Though I'm not really the biggest fan of the 'paper' graphics, Nintendo really did the best job possible creating top quality graphics with them. Some of the scenes in this game are visually brilliant but it's nothing less than expected from Nintendo. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

paper mario the thousand year doorStrengths: i like the sound fx. it is very challenging. Weakness: when i said it was challenging, i meant challenging (a little too challenging!) other than that, i give it 5 thumbs up! paper mario is a exiting/funny/challenging game. i liked the sound fx and the charactars but most of all, when it shows bowser! i like paper mario a lot!!! it's awesome!!! 25% of readers found this review helpful. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: The sidekick dynamic is entertaining and helps keep your interest. Weakness: Too much dialogue. Gameplay gets repetitive after a while. It has mario and he is paper and stuff. Its pretty sweet being all papery. (I like the presentation and style of the game). Rehash of old Mario concepts in an rpg setting - though very well done. 20% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Easily the best RPG for the GamecubeStrengths: Unique combination of RPG and platforming elements, interesting and well-written characters, level design is phenomenal when done well Weakness: Occasionally lazy level design Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is a wholly excellent RPG that can be easily recommended to any gamer. The main strength of Paper Mario lies in its unique combination of RPG and platforming elements. The addition of classic Mario platforming to the RPG genre greatly enhances exploration, making it much more interesting than the typical wander-across-a-world-map-and-get-attacked gameplay that is common place in many console RPGs. Paper Mario is at its best when the designers take advantage of this. Unfortunately, there are a couple of instances in the game where you'll be finding yourself walking back and forth over the same flat, straight terrain doing fetch quests. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Paper Mario 2Strengths: No random battles, smooth animation gives a cartoon feel. Weakness: Timing defense can be tricky. In the days of galore, way back when SNES ruled the world, I played a little game called Super Mario RPG. It was incredible; after the break-up of Nintendo and Square's relationship, I was skeptical about Paper Mario for N64. While it wasn't the best game I've ever played, it certainly surpassed my expectations. Paper Mario 2 improves on its predecessor, and there is no excuse not to play this game. Mario is back in another RPGStrengths: Everything Weakness: None This is another RPG game Mario is in. First of all the story is intersting. As usually Mario is saving Princess, but this time we get to see it through the views of Mario, Peach, and Bower. The battle system remains the same from the first game, which is a good thing since it works great. The graphics and soundtrack are also very good. Overall this is a must have for any gamecube owner. Great, Funny RPGStrengths: Funny, likable characters, clever breaks from the usual action between chapters, you can collect stuff (if that's your thing), fun battle, plenty of secrets Weakness: Um... I don't know...it's a very solid game If you loved Paper Mario 64, then you will like this game. Once again Peach gets into trouble, and once again Mario goes on an epic quest to save her and the world. Like in the first Paper Mario you have party members who all serve a exploration function as well as fighting in battle. A change from the last game is that now your party members also have health and magic points. Battles now take place on a stage, so be careful or a light might fall on you or something. Also, your audience is important because you can show off to them for more star power. Also hecklers might throw rocks, and fans presents. Peach's between chapeter mini levels are back. I'm liking them more and more as I play. The collectable and useful badge system is back in place. You can equip badges to give yourself enhancements or new powers. All in all, I'm very charmed by this game! Plus I love Goombella! She's so fun! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Well designed characters, not too difficult scenarios. Full of fun to play with. Weakness: Too much conversations sometime. A familiar character with a fun story, I think the new Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door gave another reason to keep the love of Mario. The game brought us well designed graphics and experience full of fun. There are also lots of new ideas make the game really outstanding. You just feel relaxed and enjoyed with this game. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Funny dialogue, great gameplay, overall it's a lot of fun Weakness: None Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is one of the funniest RPG's I've ever played. The whole "paper" aspect of the game is what makes it stand out from the rest and just goes to show that games don't need massive 3D environments or realistic graphics to be good. This game includes some references to the classic Mario games which adds a bit of nostalgia for older gamers. Overall, this game is a lot of fun for everyone and I would definitely recommend it if you enjoyed games such as Super Mario RPG for SNES, the original Paper Mario for N64, or Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for GBA. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Innovative ideas, good animation Weakness: Nothing Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door is a great RPG game that takes many great ideas that are new and adds them into the game yet it also makes you wonder why these ideas haven't been done before in an RPG as they are usually rather simple yet very fun ideas that are what games this game so much fun. Gamers who have played the 1st Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64 will remember such things as hitting the button right as you land on an enemy when Mario jumps on them to get another stomp to do more damage and Paper Mario TTYD retains pretty much every from the first game while adding to it. One of the things that is new to the game is that you will have an audience watching you as you battle and if you do well the audience will grown and the more people in the audience the faster your technique meter will build up, you also have to watch out as sometimes bad guys in the audience will throw stuff at you and you will have to spot them winding up to throw something bad at you so that you can run down and hit them to prevent them from getting you while at other times someone in the audience will toss an item up to help you during battle. Another thing added is that you can press the A button at certain times during your attack sequence and your character will showboat and the effect is that your technique meter will raise faster from doing this but you will have to figure out when to press the A button for each character during attacks. They have also made it so that you can have special transforming skills while moving about though the game for example you can roll up in a tube which will make it so that you can fit into smaller spots which will help you advance though the game at times and at other times it will also help for finding secrets. They also have a ton of extra stuff to do in the game and extras to find at just about every corner within the game! I would highly recommend Paper Mario to anyone that likes RPGs or Nintendo and especially both as Paper Mario TTYD is easily one of the best RPGs on the current systems. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Innovative combat system, variety of worlds to explore, great dialog, catchy music, interesting visual style. Weakness: Slow walking speed makes backtracking a bit of a chore, one optional area is quite repetitive. Paper Mario 2 is the sequel to one of the N64's best games, and it lives up to its predecessor. As in Mario Sunshine, Mario has ventured away from the Mushroom Kingdom, this time in search of a kidnapped Princess Peach. He soon uncovers a sinster plot that involves the fate of the world, and everything is leading him to the mysterious Thousand Year Door. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: fun storyline, excellent graphics, unique game, nintendo quality first party game Weakness: a little slow and simple, I'm not a big fan of turn based games It is a fun game with a unique presentation. The graphics look great, even though its trying to present something simple. The story is a little slow to get into at first, but then it quickly picks up and is a lot of fun to play. I enjoyed my time with it and you will too. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: RPG action with Mario! Weakness: Simplistic graphics are cute, but don't show much advancement over the N64 Paper Mario. An RPG with Mario? Absolutely! Take Mario on this terrific RPG adventure to "save" the Princess as well as stop "evil". Again. The RPG elements are all there, building up your charcater and skills through experience, picking up adventure items, simple puzzles and lots of exploration and pseudo-random encounters. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Full of action, and I usually always knew what to do next, so the game progressed very well. Weakness: Minimal voice-work, so there's lots of reading to do. There are some pretty funny lines thrown in there though! This is a great game. The graphics are very nice, and the game actually takes advantage of the fact that you're made of paper by giving you the ability to turn sideways, fold into a plane, etc. The combat system is the same as the previous game, and it works well. The story progresses well, and I definitely find it hard to turn off the power while I'm playing this game. Also, the music is upbeat and catchy, but not so repetitive that it gets stuck in your mind for hours and hours after you play. I'm very satisfied with this game. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Mario, childish, fun Weakness: no For those Mario fans of game cube games, the Paper Mario:the thousand year door is a must have in your collection. I play for only 1 day and love it so much. Personally, I am not so into the 3D game world, so I especially like the 2D setting of Mario in the game. But don't think it is at the old 2D level years ago, the background is 3D. That is a pretty good balance in game visualization. The story is routine: rescuing the princess from the evil, but the process is a lot of fun. Most people think the game childish, but that is just what I like it most. After all, You just want simply fun from a game. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Awesome graphics; an instant classic in terms of quality gameplay Weakness: none as far as I'm concerned Paper Mario 2 is actually the third Mario role-playing game, and easily the best. The game is long and challenging in parts, but never so much as to frustrate. The characters are well-developed and surprisingly multi-layered, and the game really shines with great sides quests that enhance the central story arc. Highly recommended to everyone. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Fun battle system, Engaging, humorous story line, Fresh Graphics. Weakness: no voiceovers, just scrolling text... bought it earlier in the day, and couldn't wait to play it for myself to see what the hype is. i'm not a big RPG fan, but this game actually kept my interest! although it's a bit slow right now, but like all RPGs, i'm sure it'll progessively become funner and funner to play (if 'funner' is even a word). Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: The writing and dialogue are well done. Creative chapter designs compared with the previous Paper Mario and will keep you interested until the end of the game. Soundtrack memorable. Weakness: There is a lot of backtracking in the game, which is annoying sometimes. A few of the interactive action commands in battle are difficult to pull off. The plot revolves around an old map Princess Peach has found, which leads to a great horde of treasure. However, Princess Peach is kidnapped as usual. In the process of rescuing her, Mario must locate 7 crystal stars and open the thousand-year door. The game is a RPG, but without the random encounters found in other similar games. The battle sysem is unique because it takes place in front of crowd on a stage. The fighting is turn based, where you and your companion can use normal, magical(Flower Power), or special attacks which requires audience appeal. The game encourages timed button pressing while battling to increase your attack, dodge, and etc. capabilities. The game is not very difficult until the end where the battles become a little nerve racking due to the constant damage you are taking from every battle. In all this is probably one of the most fun games I've played all year. Took me approximately 25 hours to beat. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Another great Mario RPG, elaborate storyline, bright colorful graphics, unique 2D paper-based gameplay, battle before a live in-game audience Weakness: Oversimplified RPG elements, minimal use of voiceovers, lots and lots of reading, too easy for RPG veterans, somewhat short for an RPG Like Super Mario RPG and the original Paper Mario, Paper Mario 2: Thousand-Year Door takes Nintendo's familiar Mario World characters and places them in a colorful 2D world with 3D elements using a simplified RPG system. Nintendo makes better use of the paper-based gameplay this time around by allowing you to fly as a paper airplane, slide through tight spaces as a paper sheet or roll as a paper tube. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Great graphics, fun twist on RPG gameplay, loveable characters. Weakness: Childish storyline I have grown extremely tired of the RPG genre. Ever since the 32-bit era, stories have been told and characters have been developed and customized in vastly more interesting ways than books of on-screen text and menu-driven combat. That said, Paper Mario is a breath of fresh air for the genre. Unlike the monotony of a game such as Xenosaga or Final Fantasy X where, in many cases, battles can be won by following a simple cookie-cutter strategy every time, Paper Mario forces you to keep concentrated on the battles by requiring well timed button presses to optimize the damage given. Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year DoorStrengths: Excellent game, only if you like Mario type stuff though. Weakness: Same as 64 with better graphics and sound I liked this game a lot. I also liked the N64 version of it. This game is so incredibly fun, and the best part is my girlfriend would play it with me. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
Strengths: Very good, long storyline with lots of surprises. Great RPG action with lots of differnt moves, items and enemies. Grahpics are quite good.
Weakness: Way too much dialouge. Slow to get going at first. Some levels may be a bit linear.
Personally, I loved this game. The story was very deep, with tons of surprises and mysteries. There are quite a few side missions to keep you busy. The boss fights are great and the crowd interacts with the battles, which I thought was very neat. There are seven partners for you to acquire in your party, and they all have a unique set of moves. There were eight chapters in all of pure RPG, and the main goal of Mario is to find out what is behind the Thousand Year Door, But don't get too excited, as the secret is revealed to you part way through the game. The art style was well crafted, and the graphics are great, but not all gamers may like the cartoony style. There are 124 different enemies, but some are just upgrades of weaker ones. There is a ton to do in this game, and you won't be able to put it down. If you don't already, go get Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
