One of the best!

Strengths: excellent 2D graphics, Well thought out storyline, great voice acting, Excellent map editing, wonderful online gaming,

Weakness: The graphics are a little outdated, though still quite adequate

Starcraft was my second real RTS (after warcraft 2). It literally blew me away the first time I saw it at my friend's house. The three races are perfectly balanced, and the stories of each blend perfectly into one large one with no contradictions (unlike the one-sided storylines of command and conquer games). The battle chest contains the Original Starcraft and its expansion pack, Brood Wars, which continues the excellent storyline from the original. Brood Wars adds two new untis for each race, and further developes and expands upon the storyline. The two strategy guides (One for Starcraft and one for Brood Wars) are excellently written, and contain a basic tutorial for the Map Editor, which is very easy to design. The single player aspect of the games is well though out, with a gradual learning curve. However, none of the missions are too easy (excepting the first few ones, which are tutorials) to have some replay value, and they all contribute to the story line. The difficulty ramps up sharply for the last several missions, and Brood Wars keeps the difficulty enjoiably tricky. Starcrafts Battle.net online gaming service is excellently administrated, and many patches are available for Starcraft, including the ability to save and watch replays of your games. All in all, this is an excellent game, and is worth playing and replaying many times.

good bang for ur buck

Strengths: Great for any body that likes RTSs, it got great 2D graphics and one of the best online RTSs ever with great servers and chat rooms...and o ya the campain editor is awesome.

Weakness: nuthing much to say about it except there r bunch of KKK ppl online...

this is one of the RTS games that is really easy to get into but really hard to master the complex strategies that the game offers. it has a very fun single player where u play as three diff races that r unique in their way and all have their strength and weaknesses. but the real catch to this game is the online multiplayer, thx to the map editor the game ships with, user can create unlimited amount of game variations. on top of every thing u get a big bang for ur buck, cuz not only this is a great game with its expension pack but it also comes with two very detailed strategie guides for the two since now the Battle chest is this cheap, ppl who r lookin for a great real time strategy game this is it!!

One of the best RTS game

Strengths: Game and its expansion in one package for good price. Different approach that differentiate itself from Command and Conquer style. Multiple maps available without download.

Weakness: It is created for Windows 95/98 era, XP and/or Vista might experience some compatibility problem.

StarCraft is one of the most notable RTS game, other than Command and Conquer series, created by Blizzard. The game had a slight different approach to, and contributed, the RTS genre, that separates it from the Command and Conquer style of playing. The multiple unit/technology/building training/construction at the same time was one of the features that Command and Conquer series did not have at the time. Ability to upgrade the unit/technology/building was also something that Command and Conquer series lacked. StarCraft have multiple maps, for multiplayer and skirmish mode, readily available upon installation without the need to download extra maps. The Battle Chest have both StarCraft and its expansion, Brood War, in one package and at fairly good pricing range. The expansion, Brood War, continues the story after the events of StarCraft, and adds more missions and units as well as maps for player(s) to enjoy. The graphics and sounds are outdated, but for a 10 year old game and expansion, it is still pretty good.

Both StarCraft and its expansion were created for Windows 95/98, therefore, users of Windows XP and Vista might experience some compatibility problem, though Blizzard probably had resolved the problem with patches already.

StarCraft has been one of the Blizzard's best selling game, other than its WarCraft line. StarCraft has also made changes to the RTS genre that was dominated by Command and Conquer. After 10 years, it is still one of the best RTS game around and with Battle Chest, gamers can experience the game along with the expansion at the same time without the need to make extra purchase.

The first game in the Starcraft duo, you are put in control of 3 different races, Terran (humans), Protoss (aliens), and the Zerg (evil aliens). Each of these races have their own set of units, building, and upgrades that you can deploy in real time strategy combat. The game offers three campaign modes, one for each race, that introduce you to the story. You can also do quick battles where you...
