Strengths: Street Fighter games in one

Weakness: It's classic Street Fighter

This is a great game. I love the Street Fighter series, but you will only like it if you already appreciate it. I can't see a new gamer picking this one up and enjoying it because it's so old school. I personally will never get sick of this stuff.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

Strengths: Two of the best games ever, excellent soundtrack, incredible playabilty

Weakness: No online play, nothing new since both games are at least several years old

Included on this DVD are two of the Of the best fighting games ever. Hyper Street Fighter II is essentially a compilation of the Street Fighter II series rolled into one game. You can mix and match different versions of the characters. Be it SFII: World Warrior Guile against Super Turbo T-Hawk. The best part is that the game balance isn't thrown out of whack so you can still enjoy the same classic SFII game play.

Third Strike was the third entry in the SFIII series (noticed a recurring theme here?) and the most refined version of Street Fighter to ever hit the market. SFIII most significant admission is the parry system, where you essentially perform an ‘offensive block against an opponent's attack. It requires incredible precision and dedication to use properly but it's very rewarding and opens the door up to some sick mind games. The control has also been tweaked to utter perfection to the point where if you can't pull off a move, it's clearly human error. A nice street style soundtrack rounds out the package with graphics that still animate better than nearly every other 2D fighting game.

The only serious flaw (if you want to even call it that) I can find with these games are their ages. Both of these bad boys are pre-21 century games and Hyper Street Fighter II certainly shows it's age in that regard. After being on the market that long, many people might have already had their fill of these fighters.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

Strengths: Offers the latest versions of Street Fighter 2 and 3, includes the animated movie

Weakness: Animated movie is edited, is 2 games really a collection?

I'm the biggest fan of Capcom and in torn with this so called Anniversary Collection. They really could have and should have offered more. Theres not much to say here, you get the option of two games with not much to unlock. Basically you'll want this to relive some classic moments and for the multiplayer. There should have been some Street Fighter history in here and they could have offered up the original Fighting Street. There's just not enough here to really appeal to those other than die hards.

A great bargain

Strengths: Solid controls, two great games, SFII anime movie also included, great soundtrack

Weakness: VERY cheap AI, no online play, there should be some more games on here in order for it to be considered a "Collection"

Throughout the years, Street Fighter has become the mold for which most all fighters have been cut. This game gives you this classic fighter plus its long awaited sequel. Not only does it give you every version of the game, it also allows you to play with every single variation of Characters from EACH game.

Street Fighter 2(All versions)
You can’t go wrong with the Street Fighter Formula and the PS2 controls. Fighting is always intense and challenges you to come up with new ways to defeat old opponents. What’s better than trying to beat the hell out of the original Street Fighter 2’s RYU with Super Street Fighter 2’s Akuma? (That’ll teach him to Hadoken me to death!) The fact that you can basically play a virtual DreamMode of Street Fighter by having all the new Versions and palette swaps of your favorite fighters verses every other version of Street Fighter 2 is like having a LAN party with arcade machines all in one console.

Wow! What an upgrade. I swear, you can see the Hadoken’s coming out of the fighters SOUL with this much animation. Seriously, this game runs smooth. The fighting is just as great as previous Street Fighter except it runs much smoother and the difficulty is set a little higher. This game alone would have been worth the buy, especially since it’s a fighter that American audiences were quite deprived of.

The AI can be cheap….VERY cheap. Making it frustrating for even the seasoned vet of the series. The fact that difficulty doesn’t matter when trying to unlock secrets is a big plus, especially if you’re like me and want everything in your fighters unlocked so that you can concentrate on what’s really fun.

If you love Street Fighter and get this game, there is no reason whatsoever for disappointment. With the inclusion of the Street Fighter Animated Movie (albeit toned down) this becomes the ULTIMATE collection game. If you like Street Fighter, this should already be in your library. What are you waiting for? Go out and buy it!

Street Fighter - everyone knows this game

Strengths: -Compilation of 2 games(in which one of them is a compilation itself) -Comes with Street Fighter II animated movie! -Get to play with all your favorite characters

Weakness: -Online play could have been included(Was in xBox version) -There's nothing new in the game(but you don't really expect this)

Those of us that have grown up playing NES and SNES will appreciate this chance to play with our favorite characters. It's time to relive our cherished moments with Ryu and Chun Li once more =]
There are basically 2 games included in this :
Street Fighter Hyper Collection and Street Fighter III,
The first is basically a collection of all previous street fighters, and III is a more graphically intense game with some of the Street Fighter character - a game that the US audience never got a chance to see.
I'm happy to have picked this game up. Would've been nice to be able to play with a friend in Chicago online, but at least i can reminesce with a buddy from around the corner.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

Strengths: Solid old school gameplay, cheap price for 2 games.

Weakness: Unbalanced difficulty, NO online play, NO behind the scenes extras.

I'm an old school Street Fighter 2 fan. Games have become so complicated with all their complex controls that I often find myself lost with the video games of today. As a result, I sometimes like to relive the past with games such as this. The difficulty of this game is ramped up way high, even on the easiest settings. Back in the day I played the arcade version of this game quite a bit (also the SNES 16-bit versions); however, I don't recall it being this hard. Novices of Street Fighter will be sent packing home, crying to mamma - yeah, it's that difficult. Sadly the inclusion of online play was reserved only for the Xbox version. So unless you have friends over a lot, you'll likely get bored of this game. The bonus Street Fighter 3 game and Street Fighter 2 Japanese anime (highly edited and in low resolution) are nice extras. I doubt this game will attract any new fans to the series so this is strictly for diehard Street Fighter addicts.

Street Fighter

Strengths: An excellent fighting series on a current generation console, the ability to fight different versions of characters from Street Fighter 2

Weakness: The graphics should have been upgraded, no online play.

I picked up this game just to give me another reason to pack up my old systems. With the Street Fighter collection on PS2, that's just one less reason to own the originals. The transfer to current generation was interesting. The SFII game contains all the different versions of SFII. This allows you to fight different versions of the same character, depending on your preferences and skills. However, when this was ported over to PS2, the graphics were not upgraded and so you find yourself staring at the old backgrounds and animations. While some may enjoy the nostalgic value this brings, I personally would have preferred a graphic upgrade.

The SFIII game is a port from the Dreamcast. The graphics and animations are definite upgrades from SFII, but could still use some work. Despite the graphics, gameplay is smotth and very competitive. The soundtrack is awesome as well.

If you were a street fighter fan of the 80's & 90's, you will definitely enjoy this game. Unfortunatley, rather than compiling all of the Street Fighter iterations, they left out a few and added a poor quality Street Fighter Animation movie. While I appreciate the attempt at variation, I would have preferred the games instead (I mean- this is a collection, isn't it?).

Weakness: no online for PS2 version

Although 3rd Strike has existed for a long time now, it's still probably around one of the best fighting games out. This, along with a sweet version of Street Fighter II with a new arranged soundtrack (and the original SF anime movie for some reason), makes for a great deal.

This is a great game for any hardcore Street Fighter fan. The two games are 2D and still have that old school look to them. The fighting system is rather simple unlike some of the newer 3D fighters. This collection has Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III on the disc and also includes an edited version of the animated movie. This 'collection' could be better if more Street Fighter games were included in this release as well as added online play.

Two of the all time great fighting games in one...

Strengths: All the great gameplay you remember. Two games for one low price.

Weakness: Not online mode for the PS2

What is there left to say about Street Fighter? If you've followed videogames at all in the last 15 years you should have at least heard of it. In the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection you get two things:

Street Fighter II, which is the game that revolutionized a genre. This is the Hyper Fighting version which is an amalgam of all the other Street Fighhter versions and you can choose different iterations of all your fighters. Ever want to see World Warrior Guile go up against Turbo edition Bison? You can get it here. The core gameplay remains the same, which is to say great. You get about 20 different fighters each with their own moves such as flying kicks and fireballs. You can take it one on one against the computer to win it all or what is even more fun, play for hours on end with your friends.

The other game you get is Street Fighter III, which is the next evolution in the series. You get new fighters such as Alex and Hugo and new gameplay techniques. One such is the parry which in a way changes everything. Instead of simply blocking ou can opt to parry which will allow you to retaliate with a hit right away. It adds a whole new depth to the gameplay. You also get aout 20 fighters here, and old school favorites Ryu, Ken and Chun Li return.

The only downside to these games are, especially in the case of Street Fighter II the graphics are really old. They aren't as fancy but that shouldn't be why you're playing these games anyway. It should be about the gameplay. Another thing missing from this is online support. It's hard to imagine this game without it, but it's not here and a little disappointing.

Otherwise though, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection is a solid game. Any fans of fighting will do themselves well to pick this up.

Worth it just for Street Fighter 3: Third Strike

Strengths: Great compilation. Two games for the price of one. Street Fighter 3.

Weakness: Why couldn't they replace the movie (edited and dubbed) with the original Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha 3. Crazy difficulty level in Street Fighter 2.

Street Fighter 3: Third Strike alone is worth the purchase. The gameplay mechanics and controls are great. The parry system and usage of only one super arts per fight makes a fighter play strategically. Definitely, no button mashing here.

Hyper Street Fighter 2 while good, can be annoying due to the increased difficulty level. Even playing at a lower level can be frustrating, but overall still a good compilation of the Street Fighter 2 series.

Very disappointed that Capcom wasted the space with the edited and dubbed version of the Street Fighter movie instead of including the original Street Fighter and Street Fighter Alpha 3 series. Inclusion would truly have made this the one and only Street Fighter Anniversary Collection.

A great classic for the PS2

Strengths: Well tuned fighting system, probably the best slection of fighting styles in one game.

Weakness: 2D graphics are not as flashy as 3D fighters.

Two games included in Street Fighter Anniversary collection, Hyper Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Third Strike has the nicest graphics of all the Street Fighter games. They looked great on the Dreamcast, and look just as good on the PS2. Of all the home game systems the Playstation 2 has the best controller for this game. The difficulty for the game will be tough on new players it would be better is that could be adjusted. Hyper Street Fighter is a great combination of Version 2 and earlier versions, but for me I prefer Third Strike.
Overall an excellent game but it does not show off 3D graphical effects that are common in the newest fighting games.
