old, but fun

Strengths: Great custimization, fun robot battles

Weakness: older game, strange controlls

OK, this one is kinda old, but still a good game. Only problem is, for every good thing this game does, the newer ones in the series do better. Its fun to build and customizer your mech, but its more fun in the more recent games. Simply said, buy this if you are a collector, buy the new games in the series if you like big robots. OK?

Good for it's time

Strengths: 2 player versus battles

Weakness: Playstation graphics, takes a while to get use to the controls (can't use analog stick)

If you're looking for giant mech/robot action then this game will wet your appetite.

It's actually quite old, having been released in 2000, but the game is still fun to play. Beginners may have a tough time with the sluggish controls but after a while you should get use to it.

FROM Software's legendary "core vs. core" series...

Strengths: Beautiful graphics, solid gameplay, fully customizable "cores" and new missions to accomplish.

Weakness: Like it's PS1 predecessors, it's still just as hard to control your Armored Core. The missions are also a bit repetitive.

After a couple of years in development, FROM Software finally manages to debut their highly popular "Armored Core" franchise on the PS2 home console.

Luckily, they also made this game a direct sequel to the popular 'robot versus robot' game series which has maintained a cult following since it's debut in 1997 on the original PS1 system. With that being said, there's an actual number followed by the franchise name, truly indicating that this game is indeed a bonafide sequel and not just another 'side story'. (No, "Project Phantasma" and "Master Of Arena" were NEVER considered to be "Armored Core 2" and "Armored Core 3".)

As with the previous game titles, fans who played the original games will immediately feel at home with not only the universe that the Armored Core series is set in, but the overall gameplay, aesthetics and control options that this game has to offer.

Like the other Armored Core games, players have the ability to fully customize and arm their "Armored Cores" (referred to hereafter as "AC" or "ACs") with new weapons and old fan favorites such as the dreaded laser rifles and powerful grenade launchers.

If you've played any of the previous AC games, then this title will be right up your alley. If not, you might want to track down the original titles for the PS1 ("Armored Core", "AC-Project Phantasma" and "AC-Master Of Arena") so you can get a general idea of how the gameplay and overall setting is portrayed.

Average Mech Game

Strengths: 2 player mode.

Weakness: 1 player mode.

This can be found incredibly cheap and there is a ton of fun to be had with the 2 player mode. The 1 player mode is pretty borring. If you have a buddy, and want a cheap game. Try out Armored Core 2.

Armored Core 2

Strengths: Complex gameplay where you control MECHS!

Weakness: Dated gameplay

I loved Armored Core 3 and bought Armored Core 2 because of it. Big mistake for me. You see Armored Core 2 is not a bad game but it's dated and that makes it hard to get into. This is the type of game that you'll have to set aside a fair amount of time to commit too and get familiar with the vast amount of customization and complex control scheme that uses every button on the controller.

I couldn't even use analog controls, it's something that really makes you appreciate the polish of more recent games.

Armored Core 2 is a good game but with at least two follow ups released in the US, it's best left with the hardcore fans only.

Armored Core 2

Strengths: Graphics

Weakness: None as far as I can tell

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm not a big mech game fan. I usually don't enjoy robots and mechwarriors and mech assaults and those types of games. This one was actually fun though, the graphics were gorgeous and the gameplay was outstanding. I'd absolutely buy this one again.

Armored Core 2

Strengths: Customizable mechs, lots of replay value, and gameplay.

Weakness: Controls, graphics, and it feels like a PSX/PSOne game.

Armored Core 2 is a action/adventure mech game for PS2. You are a Raven who takes on missions to make money, to then buy parts to upgrade your AC. The game has the same control scheme as the first armored core for PSX/PSOne which means no analog stick usage. It also looks like it was produced for PSX/PSOne, but they shifted the project over to PS2 since it was coming out. As a launch game this is to be expected, but it still doesn't make it right. Even with these faults it is still a fun mech game for PS2.

Give the game 3 stars for being a decent mech game for PS2.

Armored Core 2

Weakness: controls

The good: there were a lot of new parts and the improved graphics. The video's are also pretty good. The bad: the arena is difficult and the controls suck. Also, the enemy is hard and you lose points very fast. This game was good and bad. It is worth $10 though.

Armored Core 2

Strengths: Looks good for its time. Challenging. Complex.

Weakness: Sluggish Control Scheme.

Armored Core 2 is yet another Mech combat game. A very complex one. At times, the fun of the game is bogged down by the sheer complexity and challenge. You can customize your mech in hundreds of ways with different parts. You can fight in arenas or take on missions. There's lost to do and fiddle with. But the glaring problem is the control scheme.

It has a level of realism and complexity that can make the mech sluggish to control. Which is what the game intended, but can get in the way of the fun. Especially early on as you have the worst mech parts and learn how to play. But after several, and I mean several, hours of play you'll get the hang of it. Now, you may be wondering why is it worth the hassle? Because that's part of the charm of the game and its challenge. It's quite rewarding to adfance and tinker with your mech and become better at it.

The game looks and sounds great even though it's quite old. If you're looking for a challenging mech game that focuses on realism and variety, this it it.

Armored Core 2 (ps2)

Armored Core 2 packs so many options and so many missions and so much ability to create that I can't ignore how much it does well, even if I can't escape my misgivings about its control scheme. There's a vast amount of fun to be had with this game, even if you have to pry it from its grasp some of the time.
