Not all that bad of a game if you enjoyed Gun

Strengths: Graphics, Gameplay and sound

Weakness: Voice acting

Actually quite a good game. I needed something new and even though the professional reviews were quite average, thought I would try it anyways. I have enjoyed each and every minute of this game. It has a very unique style which is a hybrid of Gun and COD2. You get to control two different characters which is fun. Cut scenes make sense and are not overdone. Graphics are really good... looks a bit like Oblivion. Beautiful landscapes and atmospherics effects. A great shooter with variety and substance. I recommend it!

Answer this call

Strengths: Graphics, original setting, 2 playable characters

Weakness: jumping controls are imprecise for platform puzzles

Call of Juarez is a first person shooter set in the old west for XBOX 360. It features beautiful graphics, two playable characters with distinct styles, and slow motion gun battles. The story follows a young man wrongly accused of murder, and the man set out to bring him to justice. Overall this game is worthy of your money if you enjoy fps.

Pretty Fun But There Are Better Options On The Xbox...

Strengths: Fun singleplayer.

Weakness: Does not stand out in the crowded first person shooter genre.

Call of Juarez is a decent game. It does not truly excel in any one category, but it also does not do anything drastically wrong. Call of Juarez provides a pretty fun singleplayer experience, but it gets lost in the mix of excellent first person shooters for the Xbox 360. There is nothing that really makes this game stand out above the others but it is definitely worth a purchase if you can find it in a bargain bin for around $20. If you are looking for an online shooter, stick with Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 instead.

Call of Juarez

Strengths: Pretty good romp in a genre (Western) not used too often for video games

Weakness: Entertaining but not outstanding

Call of Juarez is a western-themed action/adventure game. Of course, your primary method of combat is a six-shooter. This is made somewhat more interesting by the use of a bullet-time mechanism (called "concentration mode") in which time slows down so you can take out several enemies quickly. There are also stealth segments, and environmental puzzles to solve. Of course, there is also the obligatory Western horse riding (and combat thereupon). There are some minor technical issues but overall the game looks stunning. The story is cinematic and ties the action together really well. To top it all off, there is an online multiplayer component that is pretty full-featured (7 game modes, nearly 20 maps). if you are a fan of Westerns and have been itching for a decent game (Gun came close not too long ago but it was a next-gen port) then this is the game for you.

CALL OF JAUREZ

Strengths: great voice acting and background music

Weakness: platforming and stealth segments are bad

CALL OF JUAREZ is a first person shooter for the xbox 360. In this game, you are able to play as two characters, each with their own unique abilities and weapons. One is Billy Candle , who has been wrongfully framed for murdering his parents, and the other is Reverend Ray, his uncle and dad’s brother who is now hunting Billy down for revenge. Billy has the ability to use a pistol, a whip, and even a bow and arrow, but despite these weapons , his stages are the less fun ones to play. This is because of bad first person jumping and platforming , which also requires whip swinging to and from ledges a la Indiana Jones. This would not be so bad except the bad camera angles and wonky controls almost always cause you to mess up your jumps and fall and have to do it all over again . Billy is also handicapped with stealth stages, where you are poorly armed and must slowly, and I mean slowly, sneak past many guards who are also moving slowly, thus making the stage take forever. Reverend Ray’s sections are more fun and action oriented, because he gets to duel the boss characters and has a slow motion “concentration mode” that helps you aim and kill your enemies. This game also has a decent multiplayer mode, with different soldier classes and you can also use horses to fight from and ride around with. Overall, it is a pretty good game and I recommend getting it.

Call of Juarez

Strengths: Western story game, graphics, and again western thing

Weakness: not so good control and dull gameplay

I love western things, whether movies or games. Basically I think this game is good and I enjoyed playing this game. Its graphics and sound effects are good, storyline is rather long and fun to follow. But its game control is not so good for a first person shooter game and gameplay, such as sneaking, is very awkward. However, western style game is so rare, and I think both this one and GUN deserve to attract gamers who love western-related story. Overall, I loved to play this game.

Call of Juarez - Old West Shooter

Strengths: Graphics, multiple characters

Weakness: Jumping (not quite there), "sneaking" levels.

The game has GREAT Graphics and some fun weapons in Many different settings. Some were better than others. All the "sneaking" levels were a pain and outright boring. Loved that you have choice of two characters. I Loved the GUN game and this was right up the same ally. If you could forgive GUN's shortcomings then you'll like this one also! Like GUN, it is also a play once and be done. I don't see myself picking it back up once finished. The online play was fair, not the greatest by my FPS standards but also worth the play.

Middle of the road shooter

Strengths: Unique setting Funs weapons, i.e. the Bible

Weakness: Better shooters elsewhere First person platforming is never a good idea

I like the Old West and Westerns, so Call of Juarez has a lot going for it in my opinion. The setting is fun and the characters, mission and weapons are unique to the time period. Even the multiplayer is fun and has special play modes (classes) that play up the setting. However, aside from the setting, there is nothing particularly special about this game. Given the high number of quality shooters for the XBOX 360, it is hard to recommend this game over the Call of Duty series, Halo 3, the Orange Box or even some lesser shooters like FEAR or Prey. Still I was able to pick this game up for cheap $10-$15 and it provided me with about 6 hours of fun, so I found it worthwhile. The only real negatives come from the poorly executed platforming/stealth levels. Again, nothing new here, but the game is a serviceable shooter with a unique Old West setting. Worth a rental or cheap pick up.

Decent action westerner

Strengths: Nice environments, interesting 2 character storyline, good acting

Weakness: some levels uneven, some characters look weird

Western games are hard to come by these days, so it's nice to see Call of Juarez try to do something interesting with the genre.

For the most part the game succeeds. All the environments are very well done, and the multiplayer matches are pretty fun, especially considering I wasn't expecting much from it.

The actual game is a fun actioner too, if not a little generic at times. They try to insert some stealth missions, which kind of fall flat.

The acting and cut scenes are pretty good however. If you're at all interesting in playing a game based on Westerns, you should pick up Call of Juarez.

call of juarez

Strengths: good use of western theme, fun gameplay

Weakness: hard to see sometimes, sneaking levels are boring

I’ve enjoyed previous western themed games so I thought I’d give this game a try. Haven’t put much time into this game, but I just think its ok. The environments look good, but the characters look a little off to me. It can also be hard to see during the night time levels which are very frustrating. Also, you play as two characters, Ray and Billy. For Billy’s levels you just sneak around and swing from trees. That part of the game was lame and boring. The game has its good points, but it just didn’t do it for me. I recommended some older titles like gun or red dead revolver instead.

Actually Good Western Game

Strengths: Great graphics, good game play, character switching keeps thing interesting.

Weakness: Voice acting.

Prior to buying the game, Call of Juarez didn't get great review so was hesitant to buy it. Then it went on super sale so had to buy it and happy that I did. The graphics are amazing, the other reviews say so but I was still astonish. Maybe, because it was the 2nd game I played after buying the xbox 360 console and haven't own a game console since the very 1st Nintendo. Have played games on PC but mostly Starcraft, Warcraft, Command and Conquer and Heroes of Might and Magic series so cartoonist graphics.
Anyways, my review may be bias since I recently bought the xbox 360 and got this game so cheap. So, I'm like a kid going to Disneyland for the first time, haha.
To continue, the game play is rather good and I didn't have any problems with the control like what other people said. Like how you can play 2 different characters during the game and getting different point of view. 1 you're running and 1 you're chasing that person. Actually, there isn't much Western games out there so playing this is rather refreshing. Kinda gives you a break from the constant glut of modern and futuristic games out now and in the future.
My only gripe is with the voice acting, it is terrible! I much rather it be in a different language then sit there and hear the dialogues.
Finally, if you can find this game for sale, like $15 or less, then it is worth it.

Good old western style game

Strengths: Graphics and old western action.

Weakness: Some of the levels are tedious.

If you played GUN and liked it as I did, then you will enjoy this game too. I liked the storyline, and the HD graphics look great. My one complaint is that some of the levels are very tedious. They seemed to be making the story longer by repeating the same things, just in different settings. But, I would recommend it.

Call Of Juarez

Strengths: Good graphics

Weakness: Nothing Special

Call Of Juarez is a Wild West FPS for the Xbox 360. If you are looking for something cheap (I got it for $7.99) to kill some time this will due. I found nothing special in the game so far but it has solid gameplay and is a change of pace from other first person shooters out. It has good graphics and pretty fun guns. I found the the story good so far as well. I dont see myself playing it over once I'm done though. Pick it up if you can find it for under $14.99

Call of Juarez

That dirty-faced, tobacco-chewing gunfighter pointed his rusty old six-shooter with his finger ready to pull the trigger when the man standing in front of him quotes a passage from the Bible that puts the fear of God into this brutal killer. And as the words of Ezekiel come to its conclusion, the man known as Reverend Ray McCall lays his vengeance upon the dirty gunslinger with furious anger and...
