no spawn here...Strengths: Darkness powers and good story Weakness: A.I. is not too bright The believability of the darkness characters mixed with this hellacious demonic force fits together in a really interesting way; the music in the game is ambient background that helps set the appropriate mood; the gameplay is very enjoyable, even if it isn't really challenging; and the presentation is top-notch. Play in the DarknessStrengths: Good Gameplay. Interesting story. Weakness: While a good fps it's not exceptional. The Darkness is a good example of the genre. It looks good, plays well, and has an interesting story. However, it doesn't rise to greatness, which is tough when there are so many great FPS on the 360. It's worth a play trhough but I would recommend a bunch of other FPS's before this one like Gears, COD4, Vegas, etc. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Decent FPSStrengths: Uniqueness, graphics, gameplay Weakness: Short single player game, weak multiplayer Fun, unique twist on the FPS genre. The single player game is a little on the short side, but still definitely worth playing. Cool NYC environment to explore. Using your various powers of darkness to destroy enemies is very cool. I, like many others, got this game on a combo deal with Bioshock and so was well worth the price for me. I wouldn't pay the full retail sticker price for it, however. Just rent it if you're really interested in the dark side. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

The Comic was Done JusticeStrengths: Graphics, Story, lots of sidequests Weakness: Can be glitchy at times The Darkness is a first-person shooter (FPS) based of a comic book for the XBOX 360. You play as Jackie a mobster who has a hit on him from his Uncle. Soon after Jackie realizes he has the Darkness festering inside of him. This gives Jackie many various supernatural powers. The game plays like a typical FPS, except that the Darkness changes a few things. You can toss around black holes, swing objects around at enemies, impale them, call on the Darkness guns, or even summon some helpers. The graphics are top notch and the voice work brings some life to the characters. The game has some flaws in that some actions don't work unless you repeat the button presses a few times. I give the game 4 stars for being a pretty good first start at a Darkness soon to become a gaming franchise series. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Vivid darkness...Strengths: Fun, unique "darkness" abilities Weakness: Short, not great multiplayer The Darkness is a fun first person shooter with enough uniqueness to make it worth playing. A very gothic, villianesque theme makes it interesting. The multiplayer is only so-so, and the single player is fun while it lasts. Rent it. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Good deal with BioshockStrengths: Fun once. Weakness: Not worth purchasing without getting the good deal with Bioshock, otherwise just rent it. The game is a fun play, but not really worth $40 to purchase it by itself. If you buy it with Bioshock as an extra and that is a good deal! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

OK GameStrengths: Good action Weakness: Short, Boring This is a pretty fun game to play through once. The darkness abilities are pretty cool and the gameplay is pretty solid. The game is short and the online mode is pretty stupid. Worth a rent. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

DarknessStrengths: This game is like Chronicks Of Riddicks; which is a good thing. It has similiar graphics and gameplay is very good. Controls are very easy memorize. Weakness: It's too short and online is not that good. I don't think price is worth it. It's is a good game overall but it could have been longer. The story is kinda boring but it's still cool. The price I bought it for was a very good one. I got this along with BioShock for $50 from www.amazon.com. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

The DarknessStrengths: Story, graphics Weakness: Controls, darkness powers Pretty much a very good game. The Darkness is a demon that you start to control in the middle of level 2 that allows you to dispatch enemies with some cool effects. Even eat hearts to gain bonus abilities. Great idea - poor execution (The Darkness - XBOX 360)Strengths: (1) Great graphics (2) Decent storyline Weakness: (1) Lots of "am I doing the right thing", wtf is going on?? moments (2) Darkness powers badly programmed/implemented (3) Poor enemy AI (4) Even worse helper (darkling) AI I have a feeling that The Darkness needed about 6 more months of play-testing and bug fixing. This game comes from the development studio that made the excellent Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay so I know they have the potential to do much better. The gameplay idea, graphics and storyline are really good but everything else was poorly or not fully executed. You spend the first part of the game starving for ammo, yet you are required to shoot out the many, many light sources in the game. Early on you can control an eel-like dark tentacle to perform stealth-kills and solve simple environmental puzzles yet too often the darn eel drives like a bus, refuses to bite an enemy and disorients you by climbing up walls. The main reason to destroy light sources in the game is because the light drains your Darkness power, yet you have no way of guaging how much Darkness power you have at any given time (same for your regenerating health) and you will often have your powers drained unexpectedly at the worst times. Another major fault lies with the targeting system and poor hit detection. There are plenty of glitches where you are clearly hitting an enemy or light source yet the game does not accurate detect the hit. There is also a problem with your aiming snapping to light sources - there are many in the game and this makes it even harder to register a hit on an enemy when your reticule keeps moving to a nearby light. Later, you gain a power that helps you snuff out lights but it is also a hit or miss affair. It's hard to feel like a dangerous, possessed hitman when you can't even knock out a light with your flailing tentacle. Also, there are many situations in the game where you will be unexpectedly killed with no feedback given to let you know what you did wrong, if you are damaging an enemy, or to provide you with any clue as to what you should be doing. Overall, this is a game with an enjoyable story and graphics if you can get past the frustration and lack of fun in the gameplay. I give this game credit, at least, that I was motivated to suffer through the glitches in order to finish the story. One thing that strikes me as strange, though, is that the main character never shows any surprise or shock about being possessed? He hardly acknowledges this major development. The Darkness
The Xbox 360 has seen its share of first-person shooters, some of them good (Call of Duty 3) and some of them very disappointing (Perfect Dark Zero). Still, how many first-person shooters allow you to look for a woman’s lost bracelet in a subway station or devour the hearts of your enemies? The Darkness, a game based on the Top Cow Comics graphic novel of the same name, comes to the Xbox 360... Top

Strengths: great graphics, great voice acting, good story
Weakness: multiplayer not so great
I really enjoyed this game. The dark powers you get are work great and are very fun to use. I thought it was weird that even though there are different guns in the game, the pistols you start with are the probably the guns you will use for most of the game. The story is great and the awesome voice acting just adds that much more to the overall experience. The game does have online multiplayer, but I didn’t spend too much time with it. It works, but it just didn’t do it for me. I think the single player is where the game was meant to shine. This game is definitely recommended.
