Perfect for the portableStrengths: Great game for on the go. Very well designed and executed. Lots of playabillity plus online game. Weakness: Can be complicated to learn. Justc a CCG game The Marvel Trading Card Game for PSP is very good. It is well designed, well executed, and a lot of fun. I was suprised at how much I actually enjoyed it. Ultimately, it's just a CCG Card game. But it's done very well on the PSP. It's also perfect for the portable since you can go to sleep mode and then pick it back up whenever. There are some parts where the rules can trip up a player, but it just takes experience. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Unapologetic to its core
Strengths: Literal translation of a card game; Marvel Universe
Weakness: Intimidating scope to newcomers; esoteric in Marvel-ness
If you are a card game fan, you will find this game a perfect fan service to remedy the ills brought on by lesser games. In fact, as a PORTABLE card game on any portable system, it beats it handily. Ratcheting the acclaim further, it is comparable to the Eye of Judgement PS3 in its game mechanics, losing only due to the limitation of the former's graphical prowess.
PSP games have always been unfairly lumped as derivative but that is not a bad thing. Case in point, this Marvel game takes the card game genre to its perfected core which results in a game that is perfect in what it is. Without resorting to gimmicks or adding unneeded features that dilute the basic gameplay. Adding in the diverse Marvel Universe helps bond the player to the characters as we all have affinities to at least one character, if not all.
By its sheer unbending adherence to the rules, newcomers to card games will need to excercise extreme patience when proceeding to play this game. It does not have ramping difficulty levels - rather, the finesse comes from experience playing it. If you also hate Marvel, the game's complexities will be even less forgivable.
Adopting this game is an acquired taste. Those who have the diligence to probe the game deeper will find a timeless PSP game that lives up to the very best any portable game out there can deliver. A classic in the making, in top 10 lists 5 years from now. Get it before it disappears.
