Bionicle Heroes

Strengths: Decent game using Lego Bionicle license

Weakness: Nothing special

I gave this game to my son (age 7) to play and he enjoyed it for a time. It was fairly easy for him to pick up and get through without much help on my part. The game is fairly extensive and there are a lot of collectibles to keep you busy beyond the main game. It is a third person shooter, essentially, and the combat is done well enough but gets repetitive after a while. If you know someone who likes the Lego Bionicle toys this is a good game for them as they will know the characters. Otherwise it is simply an average third person action game.

Bionicle

Strengths: Nice cover Might be fun for kids

Weakness: Everything else

Can't say I had much fun with this game at all.
I thought it might be worth picking up ($10), but i was wrong. So wrong.
If you are an achievement junkie, they are pretty easy here. If you are a big fan of Bionicle - I'm still not sure if you would like it.

If you have kids around, then it might be worth the pickup - but otherwise , stay away. Graphics, sound, gameplay - it is all sub-par.

Fun for kids, pretty tame for adults.

Strengths: Kid friendly, Simple gameplay, Decent graphics

Weakness: Short playtime, Tedious objectives

Bionicle Heroes is a great game for kids because of it's simple and relatively short gameplay; there isn't a need for a lot of invested time to complete it. The opposite is true for adults, who will find it too simple and not worth the time (except for the achievements). It has certain charms that would appeal to some people, but for most it wouldn't be a first choice for playing.

Bionicle Heroes (XBOX 360)

Strengths: (1) Fun, kid-friendly game for the younger crowd (2) Decent graphics

Weakness: (1) Repetitive and simple gameplay

Bionicle Heroes is a good game for the younger, preteen gamer. It is an action packed shooter, with a little more depth and strategy than the usual kiddie-fare. It also features "safer" violence since you are only blasting apart lego-made creatures and robots - it is a good 3rd person shooter for kids that treats them seriously enough without presenting them with the gore or adult themes of most games of this type. It is apparent that the game was given more attention and development than the typical licensed, youth-targeted game. Your main character must utilize different masks which grant the wearer different powers and guns - essentially giving the player control over different characters and the ability to switch specialties at anytime. Overall, it is an enjoyable game for kids who are looking for something a bit more serious than the usual game based upon an animated cartoon.

Fun for All

Strengths: Fun gameplay, pretty lengthy gameplay

Weakness: Gameplay is repetitive

It is nice to see a kid-friendly title come to the Xbox 360. The graphics are pretty good with the exception of a few blurry moments during the game. The choice of bionicle characters also makes the game play interesting with each character possessing different abilities. It helps to be familiar with the Lego Bionicle world, but it is not a requirement to finish game. Overall, this is a cute game that the whole family can enjoy.

Bionicle Heroes

Strengths: if you can find it cheap

Weakness: repititive and dull

Bionicle Heroes is a lego based game. It is very similar to Lego Starwars but not nearly as good. Bionicle Heroes is mostly for kid. The gameplay is repetitive and dull and not very fun. I guess if you are a fan of the series and can find it at a very bargain price you might like it.

Definitely not a heroic effort

Strengths: May appeal to fans of the series. Can be found cheap.

Weakness: Does not appeal to anyone else.

I bought this game only because it was cheap, twelve dollars, thinking maybe it would be worth it at that small amount.
Nothing in this game appeals to me. My six year old nephew, who is a fan of the series, seems more interested, however.
Graphically the game is on par with early next gen releases. The story, gameplay and controls are lacking.
I can't recommend this game to anyone over about 10.

Not Quite Lego Star Wars

Strengths: Lego Based Gameplay, Easy Achievement Points

Weakness: Pales in comparison to it's kin

I picked up Bioncle knowing that it was very similar to Lego Star Wars, which I found to be one of the greatest 3rd Person Action games on the 360. What made that fun wasn't just the lego aspects, of collecting parts, and using legos as tools in the game (both of these are present in Bionicle), but it was the Star Wars Universe which brought the game over the top. As an action based game, Bioncle fell very flat in the narrative department, and the gameplay didn't build on what was existing from Lego Star Wars. The only real benefit is that it's an easy 1000 achievement points.

A fun, but simple, shooter

Strengths: Good graphics, fun to play, a bit mindless (which is good and bad)

Weakness: Maybe overly easy for many players, a bit mindless (told you it was good and bad), feels like it drags on at points between save points, some parts don't make sense

Not being particularly familiar with the Bionicle license, I mostly ignored this game upon its initial release. But after hearing some good reviews and finding out it was done by the people behind Lego Star Wars, I figured it was worth checking out. And for the most part it is.

Bionicle Heroes is a third person shooter, but a bit simpler than many. I didn't know anything about the back story, but you sort of get enough to play the game. The game itself is very much like Lego Star Wars set in various environments. It plays a lot like the Lego Star Wars games which is a huge plus in my book. There are parts of it that don't make immediate sense without knowledge of Bionicles (like what the masks ARE) but you can pick it up pretty fast.

If you are a hard core shooter fan who can blow through Halo (or its ilk) with no issue, avoid this game-- it's probably too easy and doesn't take a lot of skill. But for a more casual gamer, or younger gamer, it's a pretty fun game. The challenge level is low but that makes it very accessible to people who may not normally play this type of game.

I thought it was a fun game in general, so I am giving it 4 stars. If it sounds too easy for you, though, it probably is and you probably shouldn't do more than rent it. But for a casual shooter that would appeal to a Lego Star Wars fan, it's definitely something that should be checked out.

Generic over the shoulder shooter

Strengths: It is very similar to the good Lego Star Wars games in most respects. The achievement points are very easy to get.

Weakness: Game is short, repetitive and easy. The camera and controls are a bit frustrating a times.

This game is very similar to the Lego Star Wars games, but the material for it is lame. It is basically run around a shoot everything. It is overly easy as there is no real way to die. You just lose a mask then walk few feet and pick up another one. This is a good kid’s game and nothing more unless you are an achievement fend.

Not a bad game but doesn't have charm of Lego Star...

Strengths: Graphics, gameplay

Weakness: no charm... not interesting

I bought it because I loved playing Lego Star Wars II, and thought it would be similar. While it is slightly similar, it's lacking in almost every aspect. The charm of the original Lego Star Wars games is totally missing. Graphics are good, but without the charm you notice they are not quite next gen. The cooperative 2-player that was so much fun in LSW2 is totally missing, and the gameplay gets old quickly. Nothing really holds your attention. While it's not the worst game I've ever played, it's hard to recommend to anyone who is not a fan of Bionicle toys.

Bionicle Heroes

This game is a very enjoyable game for those who liked Lego Star Wars or are a fan of the Bionicle series. The graphics in this game are pretty good. My only complaint is that the camera in this game can be sometimes frustrating. Overall, this game is very easy to pick up and play and is also fun.

Generic Action Collect Them All + Bionicle Stuff

Strengths: From the makers of Lego Starwars, so if you've played that, you know what to expect. Many levels, semi-interesting characters, etc. The mostly easy achievement points are a plus too.

Weakness: From the makers of Lego Starwars, so that means that in order to buy the super expensive items in the store, you will have to play levels over and over.

If you need a game to get easy achievement points or you just want a game that requires almost no brain processing, then check it out. Otherwise, the repetitiveness will drive hard on your nerves.

Lackluster use of the license...

Strengths: Decent visuals, uses gameplay mechanics established in Lego Star Wars, easy achievement points.

Weakness: Extremely repetitive gameplay, lack of challenge, gameplay mechanics established in Lego Star Wars (uninspired), unnecessarily difficult control scheme.

Generally speaking, Bionicle Heroes actually has some things going for it. It takes a lot of the elements established in Lego Star Wars as its own and isn't too hard on the eyes, but once you get past that, the title quickly falls a bit flat. Gameplay is repetitive, and uninspired, and while the style of game may have worked well with Lego Star Wars, it becomes quickly apparent that Bionicle Heroes has neither the charm nor humor that made the Star Wars games so beloved by fans. If there's a saving grace for Bionicle, it's that the achievements are easy to come by (a single play-through can net over 800 easy points for your gamer score), which is good, because you'll need some reason to wrestle with the not-so-intuitive control scheme. Bionicle isn't awful, but it establishes itself firmly in the most mundane type of mediocrity. Better for younger gamers, more seasoned players will be bored after 20 minutes, but the easy points are likely too hard to resist.

Not sure if knowledge of Bionicles would help

Strengths: Easy gameplay (similar to Lego Star Wars games), nice radar map included on game screen

Weakness: Controls a little weird at first, not sure what individual powers do

I'm not sure if knowledge of Bionicles would help play this game or not. I'm thinking that it might. I played through the first level and after a little playing around, I finally figured out the control system. I had problems figuring out which mask I wanted to use and when, but that's because I have no knowledge of Bionicles.

Overall, the game is slightly similar to Lego Star Wars in that you can collect bionicle pieces for killing enemies and destroying objects. This was a huge plus in the game play. Also, it seems like the achievement points may be very easy to get considering I picked up an easy 60 points in the first level alone and I wasn't even sure what I was doing. Pretty good game overall so far.

Bionicle Heroes

When I was growing up, games were marketed towards children more so then adults. Now that time has passed, my generation of gamers have reached adulthood and it's only natural that the majority of games being released are marketed towards this group of people. The thing is that the developers can’t neglect the children growing up in hopes that they will be hooked on gaming as my generation is,...
