Fatal Frame II Refined

Strengths: Better Graphics than the Playstation 2 version, and Better Sound with True Dolby 5.1 surround creates a truly scary game.

Weakness: A bit on the short side, and can get a bit repetitive.

If your deciding on whether to get the PS2 version or the Xbox version, Hands down it's best played on the Xbox. Although it can be beaten in under 15 hours, there's plenty reason to play trough again to achieve the multiple endings available.

Absolutely creepy

Strengths: Great graphics, some nice spooks, interesting story, and creepy atmosphere.

Weakness: Slow gameplay, character runs at a walking speed, more adventure/story oriented and not enough action. Voice acting is entirely too soft on my T.V

If you're a fan of the horror genre, do not pass this series up. With Silent Hill and resident Evil being the only popular of this genre, Fatal Frame, I can safely say, falls right below them, which is a good thing. Relatively short game, clocking in at 10 hours. Has an extra survival mode you unlock, though, which will add a bit of replay value. If you're not familiar with the series, go out and rent a copy, as the retail are relatively hard to find.

Tecmo gives Xbox a nice update a year late. . .

Strengths: New first person, mission & survival modes, new costumes, one new ending, strong story, lots of atmosphere, solid audio

Weakness: Port of old PS2 game, cheap final boss, slow character movement

The original Fatal Frame saw a nice update with extras on Xbox a year after the PS2 release, and Fatal Frame 2 does much the same with its Xbox Director's Cut version. You get a new first-person mode, several new costumes and one additional ending. Still, you probably don't want to pay full price for a year-old game with limited extras.

Fatal Frame 2 takes the familiar camera vs. ghosts game play from the original game but gives the player a village to explore. The story of twin sisters and sacrifice works well here, but you'll still have to deal with frustratingly slow character movement and a very cheap final boss. Series fans will likely still want to play through this adventure though.

Series fans will likely enjoy this, and even beginners will find it entertaining without too much difficulty at first. An M-rating means there's more blood this time, but it's not much different from the first game. Most stores now have this new or used for $10 or less, so anyone looking for a unique survival horror title in the price range should consider a purchase.

Best Version of Fatal Frame II is on XBOX !!!

Strengths: 1 heck of a creepy game, new 1st person view & support 480P only on xbox.

Weakness: Some HDTV will look a bit weird on 480P.. all vary..

Fatal Frame II is one of creepest game I played. Think of japanese horror film Ring & phone into a game, it has all the dead silence and suspense you can expect from a movie into a game. There was many times where I just playing for a day or two ( yep that how scary it was too me) my Girl Friend will stop watching me play it also. 1st person view is nice, but i still perfer 3rd person. all 1st person shooter fans will be happy.

scary game!

Strengths: very creepy atmosphere

Weakness: character moves too slow

PROS: one of the scariest games you will ever play; a big improvement over the last game; ghosts will pop out of nowhere and attack and scare you; addictive "collect a ghost" by finding them and taking their picture; camera now has infinite low grade film so you will never be "unarmed"; this version has a "first person mode" that can make the game even scarier because you have more limited peripheral vision, making it hard to see ghosts if you are surrounded; sound effects and voices of the ghosts make this game even creepier

CONS: camera combat can be clunky at times; character runs too slow

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Director’s Cut

Since its inception, Tecmo’s Fatal Frame games have been providing a unique experience in the dime-a-dozen survival horror genre with fresh gameplay aspects and an extremely creepy story. Last year on the PS2, the second Fatal Frame title, Crimson Butterfly carried the series nicely with a very frightening look and feel and a brooding sense of atmosphere. Now, just in time for Halloween, Xbox...
