McRae 05Strengths: Graphics, CARS Weakness: None This game was pretty good. Again, I'm not a real racing fan, but I played this one for about 20 hours. The cars in this are really cool, you can customize, and drive. The graphics are awesome, and you handle well in the cars. I enjoyed this title, and would recommend to anyone. Always a master technician when it comes to physics engines and simulation, the English company once known for its Game Genie has created a Colin McRae to be proud of in this generation. Excellent Balance to a Rally Sim Style game
Strengths: Excellent Gameplay, Wide selection of cars and tracks
Weakness: May have a steep learning curve for some
Unlike most racing games, McRae '05 is focused soley on Rally simulation. With that said, if you haven't played a rally game, throw all of the preconcieved notions out the window, this game is more about your driving skill rather than the ability to go fast.
Track design is full of twists, turns, bumps, jumps, and varying terrain that not only test your ability to maneuver through them, but also test your ability to set up your car to handle the course. If you handle everything well enough, expect to win by having the best time, since you do not compete head to head with other cars on the track.
Graphically the game is one of the better racers on the XBox, not as polished as the key piece Forza Motorsport, but very close to it. The sound is only average, with little to no variations of engine sound, the navigator however is well recorded even though there is a thick British accent.
If you haven't played a rally sim, you will find the learning curve for this game very steep, the tracks are challenging to players of all skill levels, especially when factored with the availability of car classes. Don't pick this up if you're expecting an easy to jump into racer, but pick it up if you want to be challenged behind the wheel.
