Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3Strengths: it has the best graphics since any dbz game. Weakness: story to short. This was the best dbz game I saw in years its graphics are outstanding it has the most wide selection of dbz characters including ones from movies the controls and moves are simple enough for a 5 year old to understand other than the short story this game has no downfalls did I mention you can fly during story mode at super speed or regular speed this is a must have game for dbz fans. 88% of readers found this review helpful. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3Strengths: Graphic, fighting system Weakness: N/A The best dbz game so far. It's much better than Budokai 1 and 2. The fighting system is improved dramatically if comapared with its previous versions. There're 30+ characters to choose from and you can play story mode on 10+ characters. Also, there're a lot of transformation skills that can be acquired during playing, such as Super Saiyan 4 Goku. This is a must-have game for dbz fans. 75% of readers found this review helpful. Budokai 3 ReviewStrengths: controls, characters, gameplay, sounds, graphics and DragonBall Z experience. Weakness: game view angle(just like Budokai 1 + 2, and difficulty this is a good game for DBZ fans but it's too much like the first 2 budokais but there is a large amount of characters.I'd give this game a 5 out of 10. it just didn't add up to wat is in the new one or sagas 67% of readers found this review helpful. Best of the series, but still needs workStrengths: Great new moves, optional branch points in story, graphics Weakness: Music If you've played the previous games in the series, you will agree that this is definately the best one yet. They've taken the good and made it better. The fighting is as intense as ever. There are some new moves and power ups as well as the ability to train in order to get stronger. The graphics are the same as before which were good to start with. One of the great things about the game is when you play story mode with certain characters a second time through, it gives you other paths to choose besides the original (ie- you may not have had a chance to fight Cooler instead of Frieza, etc.). However, not everything is great about this game. While there are a few minor details here and there that may annoy you, my biggest complaint is the music. It is very basic and does not go with the music from the show. While it doesn't take away from the game, I think having that music would definately add to it. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Best in SeriesStrengths: Graphics, Gameplay, Great for Fans of the Series Weakness: None As a fan of the series and anime show, I must say that game is AWESOME. It has fun modes like fusion/SSJ4. It has great stuff like Dragon Rush, I suggest anyone out there pick this game up, you can get it for $20 or so. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3Strengths: Cel-shaded graphics, tons of characters to choose from, seeing the cartoon come to life. Weakness: Static storyline elements. I haven't played a Dragon Ball game since the 16-bit SNES days (through imported cartridges) so it was a pleasant surprise to see my old friends kicking alive and well on today's generation of hardware. What I discovered was a fun brawler that was just as addictive as the 2D fighters that I used to spend hours playing. This game follows the anime somewhat and it feels like an RPG because you get to travel from place to place (though an overworld map) as you progress through the storyline. There are a ton of characters and they are all faithfully recreated in glorious cel shaded format. All the American voice actors are featured in Budokia 3 although much of the story is conveyed through static shots of the characters. I wish they could have implemented animated sequences or even use the game engine in real time with lip synching. But the bottom line is that this game is a ton of fun because you can reenact all the crazy fireballs and moves that you see on TV. 33% of readers found this review helpful. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3Strengths: A great licensed game, surpisingly deep, lots of characters, better than DBZ: Sagas! Weakness: Limited slots to give character moves, Dragon Rush Most games based on Dragonball are terrible, but fans of the series still find ways to squeeze some enjoyment out of them. The first Dragonball Z: Budokai appeared on the ps2 a few years ago and was awarded mediocre reviews by the press. The second title fared better and managed to improve on mostly everything despite having a terrible 1p story mode. The third game arrives in full force with lots of new additions, such as being able to teleport that gives the gameplay a much needed shot in the arm. 29% of readers found this review helpful. One of the best Dragon Ball Z game out thereStrengths: Improved graphics. Nice special effects and cinematics. Decent voice over. More characters than before, with characters from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT to enjoy. Weakness: Combo system using buttons is not easy to do at times. Camera views could be better. One of the best Dragon Ball Z games ever made. They have improved the cel-shading characters as well as the environments around, which made the game more stunning than before. The special effects and the cinematics has also made the game better than its predecessor. More characters have been added into the game, give players more to choose from. The combo system, however, is not really the best, it does not always use the same combinations and if the wrong button is pressed, the whole combo will be out of the window. It can be very annoying. Camera views remain fairly the same as before, which some times can be hard to tell the relative position of the oppnents to your character. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Graphically intense fighting gameStrengths: Really great energy and spell effects, fast pace, learning curve manageable. Don't need to know much about the DragonBall Z story to get into the action. Weakness: Not many! My 10-year old son is into DBZ, so this game was a no-brainer Christmas gift for him. I expected it to be a weary RPG or something similiar, so was unprepared for the fact that it's really just a 3D fighting game...but with amazing graphics and effects. Lots of eye candy during the fights, in some ways more impressive than the Soul Caliber series (to my eye, anyway). I found it easier to learn the moves than with the Tekken or MK games. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Best fighting game in anime styleStrengths: Great graphics and gameplay Weakness: Story rather short DBZ Budokai 3 is the best game in the series. The combat system is improved over the previous versions. The graphics is excellent while retaining the anime style. There are many characters to choose from and unlockable contents. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3
I can not believe that it has it already been a year since the last Budokai game was released, which means that the year 2004 is quickly approaching its conclusion. Since the Dragon Ball franchise is one of the most lucrative things around, it makes sense that the developers would create another game in the Budokai series. This year it has many things in it that make it a lot better than the... Top

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3
The team at Dimps deserves a lot of credit. In the span of three Holiday seasons, it's managed to take a fun but flawed weekend rental and turn it into something a lot more enjoyable. I'm speaking, of course, about Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 -- the most recent in the fast line of Atari's head-to-head brawlers that's consistently improved year after year. If anything else, this recent installment... Top

Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3
Most people don't seem to know that creating a solid anime game isn't merely the result of throwing together some character reference cel-shading and voice acting. There are more crap anime games than kids ready to trash Ashlee Simpson's singing. Bucking the trend, Atari's Dragon Ball Z: Budokai series has dedicated itself to fidelity. True, Budokai 2 muddied the waters, but Dragon Ball Z:... Top

A Dragonball Z fighting game with no (real) flying
Strengths: Number of characters and unlockables. Nice cel shading. Limited skill set adds some strategy.
Weakness: No jumping or flying. Limited selection at the beginning. Dragon Universe unlocking gets monotonous.
Dragonball Z Budokai 3 took some time adjusting to. The gameplay mechanics are 3D based with somewhat simple controls. The majority of the gameplay revolves around the Dragon Universe which is the source for unlocking the majority of content and characters for this game. While the unlocking process was fun at the beginning, it started getting monotonous. Pick a player, play through the Dragon Universe, unlock new character and skill, repeat.
By the way, where is the flying in this game? You can only fly if you knock the player into the air. After playing some of the Super Famicom Dragonball Z games, flying should be a given in any Dragonball Z game.
