SNK vs. Capcom SVC: Chaos

Strengths: Classic fighting game, variety of characters from different series

Weakness: Graphics, Xbox Live, Animations

SNK vs. Capcom SVC: Chaos is a port of the Neo Geo game that retailed for over $300 upon release. Thankfully, this version is now available on the Xbox for approx. $50, but it may not even be worth that much.

One of the best features I thought would excel on this game was the new online mode via Xbox Live. However, after playing a few matches online, I no longer am as excited as I was before I played it. First off, the matches sometimes suffer from lag. Also, you are not given the option to rematch your opponent right after your match is over, instead, you are brought back to the main menu screen. Both of these features really make the Xbox Live function less then desirable.

Also, the graphics are outdated and some of the animations are choppy. There are a variety of different characters available (from King of the Fighters, Street Fighter, and Darkstalkers series). Also, most of the moves are intact and it also has the classic nostalgic feel to it.

Overall, I would recommend this purchase for fighting fans and possibly a rental.

It's not quite Marvel vs Capcom, but not bad

Strengths: More interesting character selection than Capcom vs SNK, Good selection of unique hidden characters, Online Fighting

Weakness: A bit unbalanced, a lot of movesets echo Shoto-based motions, menus a bit unpolished

I'd played just a bit of this game in the arcades, and finally had an opportunity to pick up the Xbox version of the cheap about a week ago. My thumb doesn't always agree with the Xbox's d-pad, but what I've played so far I've enjoyed. It definitely seems a little unbalanced compared to some of the other fighters SNK have put out, but as long as you're not fighting someone only out to win by any means necessary, it can still be quite a bit of fun. I was disappointed that Capcom vs SNK was almost entirely comprised of "normal" fighters (it was basically more like Street Fighter vs King of Fighters), so it's great to see that SNK's version of the fight mimics their original Neo Geo Pocket release, with several unusual characters like Megaman Zero and Mars People (an alien from Metal Slug).

Probably not best if you're really picky and technical about your fighters, but if you tend to stick to Ryu when you play Street Fighter, you'll be able to adapt to several of these characters quite quickly, and get some decent battles out of it. I haven't taken it online yet, but I've heard the experience is very smooth, so I can't wait to do so.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos

Strengths: LIVE play, 36 fighters from previous Capcom and SNK games

Weakness: Can’t they keep the old-school fighting game style and not make the graphics look so pixilated????

Although this game is SNK versus Capcom, it’s mainly King of Fighters versus Street Fighter. The game starts with 24 available characters but 12 more can be opened up throughout game play. Controls are traditional fighting controls but the game play feels slow, especially compared to the turbo series of Street Fighter or the Marvel Versus Capcom series. If you’re going to spend the money, buy Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO instead. You’ll get more characters for the money and better game play.

Old School 2-D fighter that is adequate and brings...

Strengths: 24 characters isn't to bad, Nostalgia factor, keeps classic 2-D fighters alive, Online.

Weakness: Graphics are unimproved, old school sound, not much of a challenge, dated look and play won't bring younger fans aboard.

I usually like my 2-D fighters to be located in an arcade box with beefy buttons and controller stick. The xbox's pad isn't really built for fighters. Fans of the Neo Geo console and Capcom fans shouldn't be to dissapointed with the characters, but the game doesn't move 2-D fighters forward in anyway. Very bare bones techniqes and moves made me rather play the flashy Guilty Gear series. Online to beat up friends will give the title life off the shelf. If all it does is bring old school fighting action to next gen consoles for the younger generation to experience then i'm behind that. But only for $10 or less.

SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (Xbox)

Strengths: XBL-capable, decent old-school 2D fighter

Weakness: Bad graphics, laggy online play

SNK vs. Capcom is a rehash of an older 2D fighter brough to the Xbox. It's updated with XBL-compatible play, which gives it a bit of extra life, though offline, it's not quite as good. The graphics don't look that great compared to other Xbox 2D fighter ports, though they do the job. Online play is a bit laggy, which can cause some issues on slow connections, and even on fast ones.

For the 2D fighter fan, it might be worth looking for, though for only on the cheap.

Snk did what?

Strengths: Snk still sprites and online

Weakness: The fighting system is weak and gameplay boring.

I enjoyed Capcoms versions of capcom vs snk I/II but Snk's version is so weak compared to Capcoms versions that it kind of makes me mad. I was hopping snk style fighting but I got snk fatal fury 1 style fighting. The online is decent compared to others but theirs not a huge community still playing. Overall a decent game at a $10 or below price range.

SVC Chaos

Strengths: Older style fighting game, A+ in my book

Weakness: If you're new to video games you won't appreciate this

SNK vs Capcom is a nice mix of classic fighting along with a well rounded strong cast of characters. The special arts are all very cool, including old school moves. This is an SNK Neo Geo game and it's very interesting to see the Capcom characters done in Neo Geo art. There are also a bunch of old school secret characters to unlock...decent game if you like the old school stuff.

An okay fighter for fans of fighing games

Strengths: Classic recognizable fighters from one of the best fighting game series ever

Weakness: Online support execution, other 2D fighters do it better

SVC Chaos is a mixed bag. On one hand, I wanted to like it so much. I wanted it to be my favorite fighting game ever. I mean come on, the 2 best fighting game franchises ever in one game, where you can be one of many different fighters from either series! On the other hand, the developer did a poor job with implementing Xbox Live support – something that could have elevated it to the AAA list of fighting games. Other 2D series have caught up and upped the bar for quality in this style of figher.

Just be forewarned about its flaws as this game could have…no should have been so much better.

SVC Chaos

Strengths: Lots of Characters to choose from. One of the few 2D Fighters coming out these days. High replayability since you can play it on Xbox Live.

Weakness: Outdated graphics. Suspect collision detection. Controls are somewhat sluggish on the Xbox controller.

2D fighters have become a rarity of late, and as they slow down to a trickle every new entry seems a copy of a similar game you bought a few months earlier. SVC is in no way a bad game. It just doesn't bring anything new to the table. One big advantage it has over older 2D fighters you played before is that you can play this one with your friends over Xbox Live. Other than that its a decent unremarkable fighter. Casual gamers probably would want to pass on this title. Hardcore SNK fans however will get their money's worth from it. If you enjoy fighting games and have friends with Xbox Live then you can do a lot worse than pick this game up.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (Xbox)

Strengths: A crap load of characters. 25+

Weakness: Graphics and sounds are not up to what it could be.

If you love the SF or SNK fighters you will like this game. If you don't have a clue or slightly know who I'm talking about then stay away. Awesome special moves that aren't at all dificult to perform. The story is a complete waste and is very, very short.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos Good Idea Or Not?

Strengths: Old school fighting action, 24 characters at the start, 2D fighter that is Xbox Live

Weakness: Not as fancy as some other fighters, Dosen't really do anything new

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is a 2D fighting game developed by SNK with characters from both the Capcom & SNK universe squaring off.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is not the fanciest fighing game on the block but it's still decent and can be enjoyed by fans of old school 2D fighting. The graphics & sound may be lacking some compared to some other fighting games but it still ain't bad to the point of making gameplay any less enjoyable. Although the game isn't the best put together game on the market it is still well done I think it's just that it dosen't have as much of the fancy combo heavy stuff that some that some of the other 2D fighters have now adays so to some that may make it not worthwhile but for those that still enjoy a fighting system that is abit simpler it's a fun game. The one other thing about SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is that you can play on Xbox Live which makes the game a good choice for fighting game fans since 2 player is where it's at for any fighting game. I would recommend SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos to gamers that stil enjoy older SNK fighting games and to others interested but ain't sure I would suggest renting it to see how the simpler fighting action fairs in their eyes.

Shouldv'e been better

Strengths: Nice cast of characters, redrawn fighters

Weakness: balancing, not as responsive as it should be

SVC Chaos is a game that has potentail but falls short. If you have played Capcom vs SNK 2, then avoid this one unless your a fighting game completist. The character selection is great, however it is also unbalanced. The collision system, vital to any fighting game, is also awful. In the end, a average fighting game, that would of been great with some more tweaking.

An average fighting game from SNK

Strengths: Good selection of fighters

Weakness: Graphics are bad

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos brings characters from both SNK and Capcom and pits them against each other in a 2D fighter. The gameplay is average with somewhat choppy gameplay and controls that may be fusturating for some. The graphics are very bland and plain. For an XBox game, the graphics should have been much more vibrant and detailed. I only would reccomend this game if you need to own every Capcom or SNK fighting game released.

SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom comes to XBOX!

Strengths: Online play via XBOX Live

Weakness: Visuals are dated in comparison to other 2D fighters such as Guilty Gear

As always, it is great to have the SNK and Capcom rosters take it out on each other. This time, however, it is SNK's attempt at it.

In terms of gameplay, the game is a lot more basic when compared to Capcom vs. SNK because you don't have to select a wide variety of fighting styles. Also, considering this is a XBOX release, some might find trouble with using the XBOX controller. That is, however, a personal issue and not one that hinders the actual gameplay.

The game is particularly not pleasant on the eyes. Capcom Vs. SNK seems to have much better sprite work and animation when compared to SNK vs. Capcom. Furthermore, the game is just dated when compared to other fighters such as Guilty Gear.

Overall, the game is decent and definitely would warrant a purchase for under $20 especially for fans of 2D fighters.

There are, in the end, better 2d fighters out there with online compatibility as well.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos

Strengths: Characters

Weakness: Slow, Feels Old

The best aspect of Snk vs Capcom is the amount of characters and the variety they have. However, the game isn't polished and feels really old to me. It doesn't really take advantage of the xbox hardware. The graphics and music are ok. The story is less than average.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos

Strengths: Pretty good roster of characters

Weakness: Controls horribly, looks and sounds bad

SNK finally releases a console version of SNK Vs Capcom...and it's a flop.

I can't begin to name everything wrong with the game. Graphically, this game somehow manages to lower the bar of graphics in a 2D game. Most of SNK's other fighters might not seem as graphically advanced either but this one is especially worse because it directly interferes with the gameplay. Pick someone like Balrog and the lack of animation is pitiful and severely cripples your control over him. What's worse is that the game has some serious problems with the hit collision that will mess up your timing for special moves and combos.

The game's saving grace is the roster. With characters like Hugo (yeah!!!), Shiki, the red devil from Ghouls'n'Ghosts, Zero, Mr Karate and Mars People, SvC makes the attempt to feature different characters than in Capcom vs Snk 2. It's for this reason that the game is worth checking out just be sure not to pay too much for it.

I've never played this game on Xbox live but I've heard nothing but bad things about it.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos

Strengths: It's a New SNK with Capcom characters in it. Fluffy 2D goodness. X-Box live play.

Weakness: It feels like a Street Fighter for SNES or genesis at times.

I like 2-D fighters, but this is worst one around. Capcom vs Snk 2 does it so much better than this. Compared to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (A Classic 2-D game) and Guilty Gear, SNK vs. Capcom is insanely slow, and does not have as many characters as CvsS 2 does. It's just okay. I hope that they do a sequel so that can improve on it a lot. It also has X-Box Live Play, but i don't have broadband, so I tell you anymore than that. This is just an okay game. Buy it if it's under 15 dollars.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos

Strengths: Old School 2D Fighting! Good Animation! Easy Controls, Fast Quick Gameplay! Street Fighter & King of Fighter character in one amazing game.

Weakness: Crappy story mode, Music Sucks! Need more modes in the game.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is a decent 2D fighting game at most! I mean There are tons of King of Fighters & Street Fighter games out. Unless your a Huge 2D fighting Fan, I don't really recommend this.

Pros: Pitting Popular Street Fighter & King of Fighter characters in one fighting brawl! Simple moves & specail can be performed, Nice tight controls even for XBOX, Animation is pretty good but can be better, Good replay value.

Cons: This game could use a triple Tag team mode, Game series is getting old, Music Score is just horrible & don't live up to this Gen system soundtrack.

Overall: *** 3 OUTTA 5 STARS ***

SNK vs Capcom SVC Chaos

Putting SNK and Capcom characters into the same fighting game has been done before, but this is SNK’s first attempt at it and the results aren’t stellar. It isn’t so much that SVC Chaos is a bad game, but more the fact that the other 2D fighters on Xbox are so much better. Serious balance issues, poor presentation, and a sloppy feel all work against SVC Chaos.

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (xbox)

I was in Tokyo not too long ago at a hole-in-the-wall game store, where there was a TV displaying a pirate Genesis cartridge that featured 2D fighting action between the unlikeliest of brawlers: the X-Men's Cyclops vs. Muhammad Ali, Vegeta vs. Michael Jordan, and so on. It was as undeniably awesome an idea as it was unfortunately terrible in execution. Sadly, that cartridge is what sticks in my...

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos

How would you define a hardcore gamer? Maybe someone that can recite the entire dialog from a Final Fantasy game. Maybe it’s a person that must always wear some type of gaming gear no matter where he or she goes. For me the definition of a hardcore gamer I look no further than the SNK/Neo Geo faithful. SNK has been around for several years but to me it wasn’t until SNK released the Neo Geo...

SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos (xbox)

After the demise of SNK a few years back, a bit of wind was taken out of the sales of 2D fighting fans who longed for greater improvements and upgrades to the 2D fighting games they sharpened their teeth on in the arcades, on Dreamcast, or wherever they could. Now that SNK has reformed, the new and interesting things it's doing aren't exactly all that new or interesting. But at least there are...
