Raptor 74GBStrengths: Fast, reliable Weakness: Price coming down, but still up there I replaced a Maxtor Maxline with this drive and boot times dropped by 20 sec. Games like Oblivion load quicker. People complain about this drive being noisy, but if mounted on silicon stops you can't hear a click. Maxtor warranty =1 year, Raptor = 5 years, what's to decide. Raptor 10000 rpm harddriveStrengths: 10000 RPM, 3 year Warrenty, 16mb, incredible seek time. Weakness: price, space This is perfect for a system drive. I cannot express it enough, and western digital makes it so you have 3 years. Maxtor used to do that but ever since they went to one year i have completely moved to Western digital. Satisfied Rapter UserStrengths: Makes a lot of hard drive intensive processes go much faster. Simply the fastest drive on the market that isn't SCSI. Weakness: Loud during times of hard drive activitiy (which is not too often). Expensive when you look at $/GB. Doesn't speed up regular computer performance too much. This drive is for computer enthusiasts who are looking for the faster drive available on the market. You will see a performance difference in any activity that is limited by the hard drive, like Windows loading up, and antivirus scans. I haven't noticed too much of a difference in normal daily actions like playing games, or surfing the web. But I am still happy with the performance i got from this drive. SPEEDYStrengths: Lightning speed compared to my old IDE hard drive. Weakness: None Bought the Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB Hard Drive for my new Core 2 DUO build. I came from an IDE hard drive so the speed is very noticeble with the Raptor. Application runs much faster and smoother than my older machine. i could download, playing mp3, virus scanning, and playing online game all at the same time without any lagging. Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10,000 RPM...Strengths: Amazing drive. It has very low seek time, 16mb cache for even quicker access Weakness: louder than a regular drive If you're looking for a main drive to put the ol' OS/important documents on, and you don't want to bother with a RAID solution, this drive is a good pick. This is a great DriveStrengths: Fastest SATA drive on the Market. the 74GB ADFD has 16MB of Cache, unlike the 8 MB of its predecessor. Weakness: During Peak Usage, is louder than your normal 7200 RPM drive. When idle, there is no difference from a 7200 RPM Drive. Installing Windows on SATA drives means more work. (Which is Microsoft's fault) This is a great drive, and I was able to buy it for $100 which was a steal. Super Fast Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB...Strengths: Super fast load times. Worth the extra money for performance. Gives an edge in online gaming:) Weakness: A bit louder then most drives. Pricey, but worth it. This is one of the fastest drives you can buy. It makes loading windows and games very fast, especially since I get the good vehicles:) Will be running 2 in raid in my new super gaming computer. Wild drive, you're such a wild drive!Strengths: Faster than the average hard drive, 16MB cache. Weakness: Can be a little loud compared to a lot of other hard drives. It thinks loud... Not good for lots of storage. I don't know why a lot of stores put this drive on clearance. Either they are just trying to clear our for new versions or it did bad. I don't see how it could have done bad though! I have enjoyed both of these that I just bought a few weeks ago. I popped them into my newly restored gaming rig and set them up in a raid and boom! My system is now much faster than the old system hard drive that I had been using. Each one were already faster than my older drive, so making them as a raid just made them even faster! The only think I wish is that I had gotten the 150 instead of 74. I seem to be easily running out of space being that I have a lot of games on my system. I think it will be fine though if you just add another drive for storage if needed and use this drive as a system drive. Affordable server grade storage deviceStrengths: Speed, seek time Weakness: loud, SATA 150 I have been thinking whether a dual 7200 RPM RAID-0 setup or a single 10k drive is faster. After a bit consideration, i chose a single 10k drive. The seek time for this drive is way lower, although the burst speed might not as fast as a raid-0 setup. If you do a lot of video editing, this drive is definitely worth buying. The main downside however is the noise it produces. Otherwise it s a perfect drive. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

WD Raptor fliesStrengths: 10,000 RPM. 5 yr warranty. 16MBcache Weakness: None yet I bought this well packaged retail harddrive from BestBuy. It comes with a SATA cable that has nubs that attach securely to the back of the drive. This is much nicer than the flimsy cables that come with most drives. I usually buy Seagate drives. This one seems beefier than the 7200.10 Seagate perpendicular drive I compared it to. The Seagate burst speed was 210 and the Raptors was only 126 but I did pull the jumper on the back of the Seagate forcing 3.0 so I don't know if that was fair. the sustained speed was 76.7 for Seagate and 82.6 for Raptor. I don't notice any improvement w/ Raptor over the Seagate in gameplay of HL2. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Raptor is the bestStrengths: Access time, Throughput Weakness: A bit louder compared to Seagate 7200.10 Gonna have six-eight of them in RAID5 - probably the only choice on consumer non-SCSI market. Western Digital Raptor WD740ADFD 74GB 10K RPMStrengths: It is fast and you can't go wrong with a 5 year warranty!! Weakness: The price and is a tad bit louder than my old drive, but that can be expected from a 10K RPM drive. I bought this since my main HD died. I am basically going to use this as a main program drive/boot. It also helps that it has a 5 year warranty just in case. This raptor does wonders with my gaming rig. If you are going to use this for intense HD use (running multiple applications that needs to frequently access to the drive) this drive is for you. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Great Drive
Strengths: Fast. Runs Windows and applications just a fast as my previous 36 Gigs 8 megs cache Raptors in RAID0.
Weakness: None. A little quieter than the first versions of the 36 Gig Raptors.
Got it from Newegg. As always, fast shipping. Rebate was not precise because it called for "Completed SelectWD claims form." Has to call both Newegg and Western Digital to clarify. WD said to just ignore that requirement.
Paid $160 - $20 Rebate.
