nonstop actionStrengths: Graphics on par with some next-gen games, awesome sound, fluid controls, nonstop action Weakness: Too short, no multiplayer The game is by no means innovative, and instead is fairly average and straight forward; definitely not original. But it pushes everything you know in FPS and takes it to a higher level. The graphics are the best I have seen on the xbox. The soundtrack and effects are amazing and intense. Environments are highly destructible, making the shoot outs much more fun to watch and play. The game is a joy ride while it last, which is only around 12 hours. Black OpsStrengths: Really cool weapons to use. Lots of Destruction. Custom Soundtrack. Fun Weakness: Fairly short. No multiplayer or Co-op. Reloading is annoying. Lame FMV cut-scenes. Black is a FPS from the makers of the Burnout series. The game is set in a real world type of warzone. Levels are varied and the graphics are decent. The game plays well and the Xbox version even features custom soundtracks. The game is fairly short however and there is no Multiplayer or Co-op. Black (resubmitted review from October '07)Strengths: Excellent graphics on par with some early Xbox 360 titles. Extremely fun gameplay with many aspects of the game's environments being destructible. Weakness: Lack of multiplayer hurts the game's replay value. It is also fairly short. Black is an excellent First-Person Shooter from Criterion Games (the developers of the Burnout series). It is an all out frag-fest where you take on the role of a 'black op' agent caught up in a tale of international espionage. The plot is presented in live action cutscenes that set up each level. Black (XBOX)Strengths: (1) Solid graphics and effects on the XBOX (2) Exceptional (for its time) environmental and collateral damage Weakness: (1) Storyline is passable (2) Enemy AI is lacking Black is a cool little thrill ride for the XBOX that did some impressive things for its time. The main draw of Black is the straight-forward gun-fest in which every bullet makes its presence known when it impacts an enemy or the surrounding environment. Mass carnage ensues as you continually pump round after round and chunks of concrete fly or enemies stagger back. When the dust settles about 5-6 hours later, however, you have reached the end of the single player scenario and experienced a simple, fun and linear experience. This game emphasizes the feeling of causing massive destruction and succeeds at that and providing a bite-sized chunk of fun. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

BLACKStrengths: great variety of guns Weakness: none BLACK is a first person shooter game for the X box. it is the quintessential first person shooter so if you played games like Halo, Doom, or Rainbow 6, then you have played this game before. But what makes this one rise up above the rest is that the creators focus solely on the guns themselves. You are given, heck , even encouraged to have free rein and just pump everything you see full of bullets. In every stage, all of the environments are destructible and actually destroying them at times plays a crucial part in the game play. This is because of the many times you'll be all by yourself faced with many, many enemies and vastly and numbered and outgunned. Yes, you will sometimes have A I controlled teammates to help you , but most of the time you are on your own. It is very satisfying to suddenly confront three enemies and you shoot the heavy object above their heads and send it crashing down into a satisfying pulp. You get a standard arsenal of guns like pistols, machine guns, shotguns, and even rocket launcher that handle realistically. The game also has excellent voice acting and helps enhance the action ambiance. I highly recommend this game, it is a lot of fun and is a great stress reliever because it allows you to blow everything away. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Black for XboxStrengths: Incredible environments and great graphics. Amount of destruction you can cause with the numerous weapons. Smart AI and good challenging gameplay. Weakness: No real storyline and a bit on the short side. I bought this game after hearing about all the rave reviews and how fun this game was. A mindless shooter with great graphics and sound sounds like a sure bet to me since I'm a big fan of FPS (first person shooter) games. Needless to say I was not disappointed at all. Black is one of those games you can just pick up and play at anytime and don't need to sit there for hours to play through the whole game at once. It's just that fun where everytime you play it, it feels fresh and enjoyable. The graphics help the fun factor by being believable and quick, although there are occasional slow downs when there's a lot of debris and action on screen at once. The game is made by the same producers that brought us the Burnout series (another great series for arcade racing fans) so I was a little unsure at first as to how a racing game producer could put out a FPS game. All in all I must say that this is one of the most satisfying FPS games I have played in a long time and hope that they come out with a sequel on the newer systems (I can only imagine the awesome graphics and gameplay possibilities!). BlackStrengths: Graphics, sound, gameplay, story Weakness: short single player mode, no multiplayer From the creators of Burnout, comes Black, a FPS focusing on all the carnage of guns. The graphics and sound effects are amazing. The gameplay is identical to every other FPS you have ever played but this is no run and gun affair. You have to get cover---try to go Rambo and you will not survive. The glaring weakness of this game is it longevity. It will take you only 6-7 hours to complete and there's no multiplayer mode. BlackStrengths: graphics Weakness: no multiplayer Black is a fast paced first person shooter. It has really good graphics. The environments are destructable. Black can be pretty short. I don’t care what anyone else says, the eighties were a great period for films. During the eighties, Arnie (the Governator) was at the top of his game, Die Hard made Bruce Willis a force to be reckoned with, and even Stallone was making semi-decent films. The mindless summer action film as FPS. . .
Strengths: Excellent graphics/audio, interactive environments
Weakness: Weak storyline/AI, no online/multiplayer support, limited replay value, short overall length, no blood/vehicles
Black can aptly be compared with a mindless summer blockbuster film in that it's got lots of flash and excitement but is over quickly and will soon be forgotten. That's not to say that Black is a bad game. The solid graphics and audio and destructive capabilities of your weapons on the environment keep things interesting for a while.
Unfortunately, Black has no online or multiplayer support at all, so you can't share your adventure with anyone. The enemy artificial intelligence is quite weak, and you won't see any blood in this M-rated title or operate any vehicles either. The adventure is over after a mere six hours as well, and there isn't much reason to go back.
While this may sound disappointing, Black does offer a lot of visceral excitement in terms of visuals and sound during its six-hour campaign, so if you like first-person shooters (or simply want to show off your old Xbox system's capabilities), Black is an adventure worth checking out. For $10 or less, you'll easily get more for your money than the average summer action flick can offer.
