. Hack: Infection

Strengths: Addictive

Weakness: Unbelievably repetitive

.Hack is a 4 part series -- this is the first installment. The graphics are decent - nothing special. There's little detail and the animation is only adequate. The music isn't that great either -- there's some good tracks but most of the time, the sound is uninspiring. The gameplay is addictive, but it can be ridiculously repetitive. The combat and the dungeons all feel the same and there's really no personality to any of the areas. The characters have no development and the plot is almost entirely filler or unimportant. Overall, the game is pretty mediocre.

A great game for fans of .Hack

Strengths: Playing in "The World"

Weakness: Combat can get repetitive

This is the first in a four part series that starts exploring "The World", the online MMO game that is the center of the .Hack series. The story concerning this online world, and the effect it has on the real life players, is told in an interesting mix of anime, manga and video games. The more you explore the various anime series, the more questions you have. The games, and included anime bonus dvds, answer some of those questions but raise new questions of their own. For fans of the series, I think this is a must buy purchase. For others, I'm not so sure. The simulation of playing an online MMO is interesting -- you log in and out of The World, read message boards, and receive and send emails with other characters in the game. Like other MMOs or RPGs, you battle monsters to gain experience and ever more powerful loot. On the down side, the combat consists of the main character hitting the attack button a lot -- only late in the game did it seem like spells and coordinating the other NPCs that you meet became necessary. Once you complete this game, you can take your save game data and import it into the second game in the series. I enjoyed this game, but it might not be for everybody.

.hack//INFECTION

Strengths: gameplay

Weakness: None.

.hack//INFECTION is first part of a four-part dot hack gaming project that is related to anime series .hack//SIGN. Both settings are in a massive MMORPG system called 'The World'. In reality, this game is a RPG game that has its story unfold in 'The World'.

As mentioned earlier, there are four volumes of the game. When you finish .hack//INFECTION, you can make use of the game save to play second part - .hack//MUTATION. The last 2 parts are .hack//OUTBREAK and .hack//QUARANTINE.

Each volume comes with an anime DVD that looks at a story in the real world people who participates in the 'The World'. Each DVD is about half an hour long.

.hack: Infection

Strengths: Ability to transfer your saved data from one installment to the next.

Weakness: Story is slow, and doesn't really go anywhere. Starts to feel like a repetitive hack and slash.

Infection is the first installment (of four) in the .hack series exclusively for the PS2.

This game is definitley not for everyone, only fans of the series, or RPG enthusiasts will want to pick this one up; but it is a good change from the regular turn-based gameplay you find in many other RPGs. For the most part; it's a pretty fun and decent game, but it does get repetitive after a while. The game takes about 15-20 hours or so, depending on your skill level and how you play it (collecting items and such). Worth picking up if you can find it for less than $10 now.

.hack//Infection

Strengths: Great gameplay, plot and graphics

Weakness: None

.hack//Infection is the Part I of 4 in the dot hack video game series related to the .hack//SIGN anime series. It is a stimulated MMORPG with a great story plot and addictive gameplay. The characters are well designed. The battles are very interesting but can become repetitive after a while.

.hack//Infection should appeal to gamers who are into RPG, and those who enjoy the anime series and want to get more fix from the "World". The other three parts of the game series are Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine in that order.

.hack Infection

Strengths: Interesting interface, lots of stuff to collect

Weakness: Relatively short

.hack Infection is the first game in a four part series. It is a real-time action RPG that acts as a simulated online RPG. This is a very interesting take on a game and is a good way to introduce players that don't normally play MMORPGs. The story of the game has your character trying to figure out why his friend was hospitalized by something that went wrong within the game. It's a pretty decent storyline.

The gameplay consists of you going to different areas, fighting different creatures, exploring dungeons, and finding the rare items. This can get somewhat repetitive and you'll need to fight a lot of weaker enemies just so you can handle the more powerful enemies in the dungeons. Even though it's repetitive though, it can get extremely addictive.

It's definitely worth a look for RPG fans that are interested in MMORPGs but don't want to actually play online.

Could've been much better

Strengths: Cool story and graphics (when you first see them)

Weakness: Battles and the graphics after you've been looking at the same ones over and over again

Not sure what to say about this game. It started out pretty good, but then after playing it for hours and hours, I realized I was starting to grow bored of this game. The battles were unbelievably repetitive and it just didn't grab my attention anymore. I finished the game, but only out of completion's sake. If you're into RPG's, you might want to pick it up, but otherwise, don't bother.

Good not online RPG

Strengths: great story, immersive world.

Weakness: none

This game is the first in a four part series that simulates an online game world. It is an action RPG. You take the role of Kite who tries to uncover why his friend has gone into a coma. The gameplay is good, the story is great, and the characters are awesome. The game is short but very good. Great game.

. Hack: Infection

Strengths: + nice character designs + intriguing premise + nice voice acting, same as the anime

Weakness: - LOTS of repetitive battles - no level designs -

In some level .Hack//Infections is a good game. The idea of playing in a simulated MMORPG is fresh, the story where your trying to solve a mystery (your best friend suddenly falls into a coma while playing the online game) is intriguing, and the characters are well designed.

But all this potential is ruined by the repetitive battles. Because this is an action rpg (more like a dungeon crawler) and not a turn based rpg, every battle pretty much plays out the same way; you enter battle and just keep pressing the attack button and heal whenever necessary. The battles in .Hack are even worse than other action rpg's due to the difficult enemies. You can't even progress through the story unless your at a certain level so you'll be spending hours on end just travelling to different areas in search of battle. And to make it worse the environments are plain and are reused over and over again hence the genre dungeon crawler i.e. your moving from dungeon/room to dungeon/room and everything looks exactly alike.

Maybe if you're a fan of dungeon crawlers or MMORPG's you'll enjoy this game, otherwise steer clear from it.

. Hack: Infection

Strengths: Great Graphic, Interesting 1 of a kind Storyline, 1st of a 4 part series RPG! Cool Bonus DVD Anime.

Weakness: Battle system get old quick, Confusing intro, Story just the same as the anime.

.Hack Signs. Well this game is based off the Hit Anime from Japan! This Series will be broken down into a four part series. where the forth final game was just release a few months ago. So if you want get into this? better yourself a good 100+ hours and about agood $150 to get all 4 games. Not to confuse some of you this game takes place in a Online world, in whihc you are not online at all. it's just the story takes place in a online world.

Pros: Very Suck you into kinda story, It will asking you wanting for more after the 1st game, Great graphic! but nuthin mouth dropping as Final Fantasy X. Music is decent. Very cool bonus anime DVD included.

Cons: Short game, Battle system will get old! very fast, you'll be saying to yourself, oh NO not agian! vopice acting is kinda bad if you watch alot of anime, you will notice. Ending is kinda bland....

Overall: *** 3 OUTTA 5 STARS *** GOOD STORY, But nothing new here.

Hack Infection

Lets face it; the RPG Genre has gotten really stale over the years. It seems like every RPG game that has been released is just a carbon copy of the one released a few months before that with better graphics and a different set of characters. So in comes .hack, its goal is to try to innovate this genre and take it to a new level, by combining both online RPG's and offline ones into one game. Can...
