SSX 3

Strengths: Gameplay is smooth, and physics are very realistic. Very fun to play with a group.

Weakness: Game segment load times are very long. Haven't figured out to use 2 player option, not in manual.

My six year old and I play this game with the aid of a surround sound stereo. We can entertain not only ourselves, but house guests too, because of the look and sound of this game, and the way it engages we players. My son suddenly is a 'dude', and does face plants and rips it up (his words - he has never actually snowboarded).

SSX 3

Strengths: Great graphics, huge courses, lots of tricks, solid controls, online play (only on PS2).

Weakness: Online not that deep.

SSX kind of came out of nowhere when it debuted with the Playstation 2 in 2001. EA has since carried the momentum from their BIG brand and expanded their lineup (Street, Sled Storm, etc.). But I think SSX symbolizes what's at the core of the BIG brand. Fun arcade games that have a surprising amount of depth. The courses are absolutely beautiful and huge in SSX3. Even though the entire game takes place on the slopes of one mountain, there's a lot of variety. There's even a mode later on in the game where you'll be able to sled storm down the entire mountain and it won't be broken up into segments. It's very satisfying to be able to pull off tricks in this game - they're an absolute blast since the controls are so responsive. A new addition to SSX is the online mode. This just extends the replay of an already great game (although the online mode could have used a few more features). I believe SSX3 will appeal to gamers of all ages and skill levels.

SSX 3 (PS2)

Strengths: graphics, combos, characters

Weakness: None

I played SSX tricky for the PS2 and loved it... so when SSX3 came out, I bought it right away. This game features the same over the top snow boarding tricks and combo as the previous SSX games. You chose a character and hit the slopes. In SS3, all the slopes reside on one mountain with 3 peaks. You unlock slopes and character upgrades (skills, clothing, etc) by winning races, performing tricks and collecting items.

You can play this game in free-form mode - just you on the slope racing and performing tricks, or can enter a race or trick competition against other computer controlled characters.

Although all the slopes are on the same mountain, there is a lot of variety on the slopes. And races from the top of the highest peak to the bottom can last for 20 minutes.

I would highly recommend this game - it is one of my personal favorites.

Still holds up

Strengths: Great control, varied environments, ton of stuff to do, cheaper than Blur.

Weakness: If you didn't like the previous ssx games, this won't convert you.

I've played ssx 3 for both the cube and ps2, and while I spent more time with the cube, I have to say the controls on the ps2 are easier to play. The other main difference was online play for the ps2, but I have no experience with that.
If you haven't played any of the ssx games, this is a great jumping on point that eases you into the controls but has long and deep learning curve. Strongly recommended, especially with it being readily available in most bargain bins.

best of the series

Strengths: great gameplay with continuous theme, long long runs that have a lot of great lines to run in them

Weakness: typical ea "synergy" music, only 2 person online

This is a fantastic game that is really the epitome of the series. The game is all on one gigantic "mountain" that you slowly progress to the top of and combine runs to get longer and longer and harder and harder. The final run is about half an hour long. Its a lot of fun and there are lots of different things to do and customization. The typical great gameplay of SSX combined with some great incentives makes for very addictive gaming. Pick it up and enjoy

dont eat yellow snow

Strengths: Great controller response, cool tricks, very smooth

Weakness: NA

This game is loads of fun for everyone. Normally I play very involved, deep, and slow games (FF series for example) and my family hates it since it is so boring to watch. However, when I picked up this game and started playing, the family was all around having a blast and enjoying it all the time. I've definatley had a blast playing it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys snowboarding, Tony Hawk games, or just plain fun arcade type games.

SSX 3

Strengths: very enjoyable; crazy tricks are fun to watch; cool graphics; great characters; lots of customization possible; great music

This game is a very fun one, and one of the things I like most about it is that it is totally unrealistic. The physics of the game are very good, so it IS realistic in that sense (which is good), but the tricks are impossible. Many of them involve removing both feet from the snowboard (which = DEATH or at least serious injury when snowboarding in real life), but they are a lot more fun to watch than realistic tricks would be.
So, if you want a game that is a good simulation of what snowboarding is actually like, this is not it. But if you just want a snowboarding game that is loads of fun, this is it.

SSX 3

Strengths: Superb Graphics, SOlid gameplay, great soundtrack, race on a mountain!

Weakness: May be considered too "niche" by casual gamers (because it's snowboarding), some might not be a fan of the music selection

SSX3 is the quintessential snowboarding game. Forget physics and realism. If gamers want realistic snowboarding they should go do it in real life... EA BIG's SSX series has sought to rejuvenate the dying snowboarding genre in a hyped up and innovative way, and SSX3 is simply the best of all of them. The soundtrack is great, and like in the previous installments, the music adjusts to your playing (fading out on you jumps and slamming back in on your landing, for example), and features a great lineup of artists, including Fatboy Slim and N.E.R.D. Some may not be particularly into the selected music for SSX3, but it's hard not to at least tap your foot to most of these beats.
The insane trick system of the original games is back, allowing you to basically max out a type of power bar and do string of fast moves and ridiculous tricks much in the way Tony Hawk's trick system operated. The tricks are not only easy to pull off, but they generally look very cool and will help you succeed in the game.
Probably the coolest feature in the game is the ability to snowboard down an unlockable mountain. I still have yet to play this whole thing (I haven't had the time) but I'm telling you, EA BIG actually created a digital (though admittedly plain looking) mountain for you to snowboard on! This is not a track! You choose the direction you want to go down and you cut the slopes. It's really quite amazing. Features like that are what makes video game history in my opinion. If you've waited for a good snowboarding to come along , this is it- easily the best of the SSX series, and certainly one of the best sports games to be released.

SSX 3

Strengths: open gameplay, huge trick, long playing time

Weakness: somewhat repetitive

This is a very fun game. It improves on both previous versions and the levels are much bigger now. The gameplay is still very fun and the tricks are very cool. A casual gamer would like this , not only snowboarders.

SSX 3

Strengths: easy to control and also encourage to get next level and extra characters

Weakness: hopely having more music

I played SSX w/ ps1 long time ago.. and i got ssx3 for ps2. i enjoyed ssx3 with fun, easy to play, and smooth graphics. to get more characters and different games i need to put lots of effort and time but just enjoying downhill is pretty enough for basic user.

SSX 3

Strengths: Great updated graphics

Weakness: No trick tutorials that I can find. Only one mountain.

This is a great game, so don’t get me wrong. I do enjoy it although I think I do like SSX tricky’s different courses rather than having 1 mountain with different paths. Don’t ask me why, it just doesn’t seem as fun. The graphics updates are great and the tricks and super uber tricks are very nice, but I think I may be stuck on SSX tricky.

UPDATE: Just found out yesterday that if you hold down Triangle and X while the game is loading it will give you the option of turning on "Progressive Scan"! This is definitely a great plus and I have verified that this does in fact work! If you have a 16:9 HDTV this should be a great benefit to you. One note though, if you enable widescreen and you have a 16:9 set, make sure to select "Anamorphic" and not just turn on widescreen. Selecting Anamorphic will allow you to utilize most of your television viewing size.

SSX 3

Flying down the peak, the snowboarder jumps into the air and spins around three times. He grabs the board from several locations, switching seamlessly between each move like it was a natural reflex. Crossing the finish line in record time creates an overabundance of excitement from the audience. Everyone is amazed by what this guy has done. But all you can say is, "His form was a little off." SSX...

SSX 3

Generally speaking, when a game is released across all three console platforms, one version ends up sneaking ahead of the other two in some way or another. In the case of EA's superb SSX 3, it's PlayStation 2 owners who are really going to get the most out of the slopes and their snowboards. As the third game in the popular EA SPORTS snowboarding franchise, SSX 3 manages to elevate its game to...

SSX 3

When one looks around at the freight train of games with 2s and 3s attached to their in 2003, it seems this year could easily be dubbed The Year of the Sequel. The perception thus leading one to believe the titles of 2003 are just sequels, more of the same - same concept, more levels, extra widgets, colored goatees, etc. True, to a certain extent, this. But there are two things these short-sided,...
