Convenient way to get your Xbox Live Marketplace...

Strengths: Convenient, more secure

Weakness: Entering the numbers with the controller

As said in title, this makes purchasing Marketplace points much easier and secure. This is very ideal for those like myself who prefer not to use their credit card on Xbox live.

Points can be used to purchase everything from new items for your character to bonus levels to TV shows and High Definition movies.

Xbox Live's currency.

Strengths: Point-based system is superior to cash.

Weakness: Set denominations require you to purchase more than you may want.

Most of the criticism of these point-based cards is unfounded and a bit limited in foresight. As opposed to cash, you can frequently find these cards at retailers on special where the discounted price will lower the cost in real money in respect to the the number of points purchased. As a result, this lowers all of the prices for game expansions, movie rentals, or even themes and pictures (if you buy those sorts of things). I am definitely happy Microsoft went with the point system and look forward to continued purchases at a discount.

Declaring War on Dollar Bills

They say you can never have too much money. Likewise, you can never have enough Xbox Live points, the currency used to purchase content through Xbox Marketplace. As any Xbox 360 fan undoubtedly already knows, Marketplace is the gateway to games (in the form of demos and arcade games), movies, pictures, and more. Of course, most of these things cost money, which is where these dandy "points" come into play. Sixteen hundred points is equivalent to $20, and while it won't get you very far, it will let you get your feet wet. Just make sure you find the best deal, because it's criminal to pay more than $20 (before applicable tax/shipping) to acquire them.

Currency for Xbox Live Marketplace

Strengths: Good for some great stuff

Weakness: None

Xbox live points are the official currency for buying anything at Xbox Live market place. This prepaid card system is much better than providing the credit card info on Xbox Live.
There is some real cool stuff that one can purchase using these points. It include arcade games, picture packs, themes & even movies & television shows.
One can also buy downloadable content for games like new maps & expansion packs.
With constant exciting editions to the Xbox live library - this points card is a must buy

XBOX Live 1600 points card

Strengths: Don't need to give Microsoft your CC number.

Weakness: Too pricy for 1600 points, may be 2400 points for same price then worth it..

A much more convenient way to buy online content such as xbox live arcade games, movies, music, etc through xbox live market place, without having to actually purchase the content online and handed out your CC number to Microsoft.

Extend the life of your games

Strengths: Numerous downloads to enjoy

This is a good idea from XBox. Many games have additional multiplayer maps or single player missions and content that can be bought using Live points. The points will not expire and stay on your account. A good purchase for someone looking to make their games last longer.

Xbox Live 1600 points card

Strengths: Use to purchase Xbox Live Arcade games and other downloadable content on your Xbox 360

Weakness: Have to enter lengthy code, not really a big deal though

XBox Live 1600 points cards (which retail for $20) are used to purchase downloadable content on the Xbox 360. This includes Xbox Live Arcade games, downloadable content for regular 360 games (like new maps and expansions), and for renting movies (for download). The cards are a fairly easy and convenient way of adding points (except for the need to get one at a store). The advantage they have is the potential to get them on sale or cheaper via coupon or promotion. Thus there is the potential of getting Xbox Live content at cheaper than the typical retail pricing, which is always nice. Contrast this to the Sony Playstation 3 store where you can only purchase content via credit card directly on the site - thus meaning you will never be able to get content cheaper unless they drop the prices online, which is unlikely for most things.

Xbox live points make it easier and more convenient to buy online content and xbox live arcade games. Using a points card can be more secure than having to provide a credit card to purchase points through the xbox live market place. If you are going to download new content buy a couple cards from a local retailer and use them when you need them.

The Only Way to Go

Strengths: Easy to find, Cheaper than Wii points

Weakness: Have to scratch lightly or Card is useless

Since there is no alternative, to buy stuff like Movies, TV shows, and extra things on the X-Box marketplace you need X-Live points. Brilliant for Microsoft, kinda sucks for gamers. But since you need it, $15-20 bucks isn't that bad. You Can use the Live points on Zune Marketplace and vice-versa.

XBOX Live Microsoft Money

Strengths: Secure, & not giving Microsoft your CC number.

Weakness: Pain to enter number with controller!!! Point conversion ratio created to confuse you on what you are spending. The (purchasable) additional game content should be FREE!

1600 points = $20, will get you 2 alright games. Should be about half as expensive if they really want to give us a deal on them. As we did already purchase the console. One of these cards will get you started but not too far. Oh and you may end up with points left over. No option to cash it out either, must just buy more...

Does what it does

Strengths: Allows you to purchase additional game content.

Weakness: Point structure is a tad cumbersome.

This baby allows you to purchase game additions. These could be new levels, characters, maps, weapons, songs, etc.

That's basically all there is to it. One thing I should mention is that the point structure is a little bizarre. When you've bought what you wanted you may have some points left over. But, it may be a strange amount, like 40 points. And since the smallest items are usually 100 points, you are basically stuck with that 40 points sitting in your account.

Besides that little quip, these are just fine.

Its 1600 points for XBOX Live Marketplace

Strengths: Its the XBOX Live Marketplace currency.

Weakness: Weird denomination of numbers so that Microsoft ends up with a free loan since you can't spend all in one go without buying more points. Great business tactic on MS part but bad for the consumer.

1600 points for XBOX Live marketplace is the currency used to purchase downloadable content, movie rentals, TV shows, XBOX Live Arcade games, themes, gamerpics, etc. on XBOX 360. I prefer picking up a 1600 point card than purchasing the points directly from MS on the Live Marketplace. There are lots of great deals at stores that will sell them for $5-$15 dollars cheaper than buying them online. For example using Pricegrabber.com to search for these deals. I give 1600 point card 5 stars since it usually ends up saving me money and getting me some digital goodness from the XBOX Live marketplace.



Just remember this card can only be used to purchase items on a XBOX 360 at the moment.
