Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Winter Assault
Last year, THQ released their great RTS based in the Warhammer 40K tabletop game universe, and the game instantly garnered some critical acclaim. Even earning a few PC Game of the Year awards, Dawn of War was a brutal and intense strategy game that translated its subject matter very well to the PC gaming medium. Now, the game is receiving a proper expansion pack in the form of Winter Assault.... Top

Dawn of War Winter Assault
Strengths: Fun campaign, the imperial guard are good
Weakness: The campaign is too short, questionable value with Dark Crusade out
Winter Assault is the first expansion pack to the great RTS Dawn of War, adding two new campaigns, a new race, and new units/technologies to the old races. The campaigns are divided into order and disorder, the order campaign letting you play eldar and imperial guard, the disorder campaign letting you play chaos and ork, the space marines play a minor role in the expansion and aren't playable. Though the multi-race campaigns are pretty fun, they're both pretty short and not particularly replayable. In the skirmish and multiplayer front, Winter Assault adds the imperial guard race, on top of interesting new units and techs for all the old races. Overall Winter Assault is a very good and worthwhile expansion pack, the only drawback now is that with the newer Dark Crusade stand-alone expansion pack released (And letting you play every race in singleplayer), is Winter Assault still worth picking up? On the whole, I would say no. Unless you want to play imperial guard online, the campaigns alone don't justify the purchase unless you're a big Dawn of War or Warhammer 40,000 fan. For it's time though, it's a fantastic expansion.
