Great Space Sim

Strengths: Excellent Graphics\Sound. Plenty of diverse game play options. Combat system lets you customize your fighter to your liking.

Weakness: Learning curve for new players. Demanding system requirements.

First, There is now a playable demo out for this game so go download it and see what you think.

I have been playing for over a month and have not had 1 problem related to starforce cd protection. Starforce is a driver and does get updated from time to time so keep yours up to date. Many new games require it so I wouldn't let it determine what games I purchase...

Egosoft released an updated manual online that is fairly comprehensive. Any questions I had that weren't answered there I found in the official forums.

The game evnironment is very well done. The bump mapping effects along with the professional texturing creates an immersive and realistic space environment unlike anything you will see in any other space sim.

There is a learning curve to this game but that is because there is so much you get to do.

First there is combat from taking on the khaak and Xenon to possibly starting conflicts with one of the other competing races for space/territory. There are 6 classes of combat ships all of which you can purchase and operate. They range from small fighters to Battleships and Carriers. There are various weapons along with a good variety of missiles and torpedoes. I think the combat gameplay to be a blast since it takes practice and skill to become good at placing your shots at the enemy.

Secondly, you can build a trading fleet to trade with various stations. No, you don't have to trudge along in some slow freighter to trade instead you can give orders to the ship remotely. There is even a ship upgrade that will allow you to setup automatic trading.

Thirdly, you can also build the stations which produce the raw materials and the finished goods consumed in the X universe.

There is also a story-line mission in addition to the free-form play.

The game is demanding so be sure your system can handle its demands. If your not sure d/l the playable demo and give it a whirl.

X3

Strengths: none

Weakness: Star-force, poor manual,no working demo...

The Star-force CD protection that is installed on this and other games, renders this game unplayable. The game crashes due to this CD protection and the only way I found to play
this game was too install a special “code” given to me by the star-force CD protection group. If you have this game and can not get it to get passed the opening CD protection screen.. contact star-force here:

I am all for Game manufactures enforcing some type of protection on their software. However, Valve (makers of Half-life 2..etc) has no problem with their protection.

Other major problems of the game… No Tutorial.. very poor manual.. no working demo (what they call a demo is a movie…)

Do not buy unless you are into pain…..

X3 Reunion

Earlier, I mentioned the game being unfinished; and so it is. It's reasonable to expect some minor changes in a game manual before the product appears, but X3's manual is so far off course as to require an entire manual of correction—which is not provided. But worst of all, in my opinion, is the absence of an in-game tutorial. X3 is the most complex simulation of its kind, yet. It has more...

X3 - Reunion

Julian Brennan … age 21 … attitude? Yes. … fighter pilot and privateer. There is a whole lot of space out there and Julian wants his piece of it … and then some. But do not mistake this for merely a let’s hop around the galaxy-type of game. X3 – Reunion, from Egosoft and Enlight, is not the type of game that can be easily placed into a comfortable niche and then forgotten. This is a...
